I mean honestly, in what way does TL.net present enough opportunity for a buyer for it to be worth 2.84 million. Any other arguments you may have about why it would be worth more because it encompasses x amount of code and y amount of hits per day are stupid if you cant back up the statement that no one would be willing to pay even 1/20th of that price for the website... I hardly doubt they're raking in the money from the $1.1 add spaces up the top..

If nobody has interest to buy something it worths 0. TL.net is a great website for SC fan, but I don't think it worths a penny for someone who don't give a fuck about the game.

That said, TeamLiquid is a bit esoteric and not just anybody would want to take over ownership. The site caters to players & spectators of a game released twelve years ago. It provides"foreign" coverage of Professional Leagues based in a country that is foreign to most of its user-base because that country is one of very few countries to take e-sports (still a niche market as a whole) so seriously. The last time I saw video games being played on US TV that wasn't an advertisement or something on G4 (which is basically just a continuous 50/50 blend of spew and adverts) was Nick Arcade. Not to mention that the long awaited sequel to this aging game is on the horizon and it is hard to estimate what effect this will have on the pro scene & the SC:BW community. I imagine it is hard enough for someone who has been there since day one to project how to adapt to, incorporate or separate Starcraft 2 from TL.net upon it's release. Joe Average could not buy TL.net without knowing what to do with it. They could easily cause its community to die if their ignorance of the community & the game's history took the site in the wrong direction. Then those projected values (which could only expect to be paid by somebody in this niche) would plummet. Sites without community or target consumers are ad-space rented out by domain squatters or dead-links. Edit: Biff beat me to it with the TL;DR version.
