So yesterday, I went to see the movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats" with a couple of my friends. In my opinion it was an ok movie. Not something I would hate, but not something I would like to watch again either. Anyways, I ended up in a dispute with my friends during the final scene. To remind those of you who did watch the movie, at the final scene Bob is sitting in his office and decides to try out some "psychic" powers and runs through the wall in his office. A second later, a frame on the wall falls to the ground. Please note that Bob does not touch the frame.
My question is this: What really happens in this scene?
From my view, what literally happened is that Bob slams into the wall causing the frame to drop but at the same time, the director depicts him running through wall to be the final scene of the movie which criticizes people believing in psychic abilities.
My 2 friends disagree with me however. They both argue that Bob did actually run through the wall proving that psychic abilities did exist and Bob is a Jedi warrior as the conclusion to the movie. Neither of them have provided me with a reasonable argument as to why the frame dropped to the floor (one of them suggested that the force of the air as Bob ran through the wall was enough to drop the frame).
Team Liquid, I would like to ask for your input here. What really happens in this scene? I understand that I may have been biased and provided more support for my argument so I'd like to ask your honest opinion of you have seen the movie and not just an opinion based on my description.
I want to put this to a poll so please vote on your opinion of the ending scene if you have seen the movie:
+ Show Spoiler +
As a last note, to make this interesting, my friends and I have agreed to put this to a slap bet.
This poll alone is not enough to conclude the slap bet but the slap bet commissioner will put it into consideration. When it's concluded, I'll post here later how it goes
