Still left with a considerable amount to play around with. I'd get a small house which would be around $300000 which would be half or so. Rest would be in a decent car, a few video game consoles (and games of course) and a ton of manga. Everything else I could bring from what I already have. Anything else I need I can spend the rest. (The stuff left behind goes in chequeing account)

-ship 1 mil to my parents -pay off all current and future college payments (~100-200k depending on grad school) -save 500k-1mil for rent payments till i get out of college, then the rest on a house when i get a job -Probably about a million on cars...GTR, audi rs4 + r8, aston martin, corvette zr1, and some nice sedan/suv. Fuck i just realized my garage will cost more than my house -Another couple hundred grand on sick nice shit like a watch, clothes, basically rich people shit so i can be super ballin when i roll up to vegas in my r8 -the rest will cover random vacations/absurd amounts of alcohol/partying/gambling/etc -I will finish college and get a job to pay the bills and raise my kids. Life without a purpose is not a life at all. I will be able to do something i love though and not worry about how much it pays. -Probably give away some amount to charity or some shit. college for kids as well.

But seriously, I'd just invest them properly and help out poor people through different NGO foundations. I'mma kinda happy posting in teamliquid and playing different type of games. ![]() and yeah, no one will ever notice I won a gazillion bucks!

Take like 1 million of it, buy a nice new house, not too expensive, but something that will appreciate. New car, stuff like that. Half of that 1 million will probably go into a locked retirement fund or something. 1 million to family. And just be a lazy ass for a few years. Do some traveling. Eventually, I'm sure I'll go back to work/devote my life to something a bit more meaningful, and I'll always have something to fall back on if something were to happen (or if I just want to break for a while). It'd be nice. Lol, kinda mundane.

Either we at TL are overly optimistic concerning our financial self-control, or we are smarter than people who actually win the lottery. It reminds me of the poll that shows a high percentage of people think they are "smarter than average." I agree that there is obviously a disconnect between what one imagines they would do in a situation and what they actually would do if presented with the scenario, but if I were to play devil's advocate, I would draw your attention to the fact that the demographic drawn to competitive strategy games is likely more intelligent than average.

Also since most of the people at TL have been responsible thus far in their lives they have no idea what monster might come out when they place them selves and even as little as 10k directly in harms way, for the sake of experience. also it has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. out of the 10 most intelligent people i have ever known ( myself not included ^ ^) the top 4 spiraled insanely out of control, the top 2 of those are somewhat stabilized in a certain mediocrity trying to convince themselves the rest of their life is worth living, and of the other 2 , one is wealthy and stable, and the other is trying hard to get there. having very shaky results but still looks promising.
