This is something I feel would be a very good thing to learn
I am not interested in doing competitions or the sport aspect of fighting. I want to learn how to fight because I want to be able to defend myself.
If someone jumps me or stalks me I want to be able to outrun that person (so I run tree times a week). If I can't run away I want to be able to do whatever necessarily so I can gtfo.

why are you so worried about fighting? or confrontation? the majority of people spend their whole lives never having either happen

who said i'm so worried? I have insurance for my car, always had but I never used it. It's basically normal cardio workout that makes you feel healthy and strong.
Krav Maga is specifically designed to defend against attackers, with various kinds of weapons.I believe it's required by police officers to learn it? I'm unsure, but my cousin is training it anyway.
You only need to get into one violent confrontation for your life to get shaken up, and having weeks of practice on your side may mean to get to walk away without anything that'll scar you for life. They're not so uncommon that one can't justifiably worry about it.

You sound worried alright
Hehe. Well, I would exercise regardless. I only worded it like that to make make sure I have I came across as someone who wants to defend not attack.
Of course I have other motivations to run then this! I want to be in good shape because it feels good. It also feels good to have basic protection skills.
I do live in a crappy place. When I moved here my friend got me a machete in a move-in present=) I could tell 10 stories at least. So everyone thinks Krav Maga...
I think so also but one concern I have is that they might practice to soft?
well traditional martial arts has a much lower emphasis on the sport fighting but then again its kinda hard to find such places and some ppl dont like their styles of discipline.
on the side note...where does one learn krav maga?
