There seems like enough desire for another one. If you would like to join, just PM me with your name and ship of choice~ Once we get enough people, we will have to come up with a name :X We of course will be too late for this season's league, but maybe we can get some scrims in against other teams.

Some perks are better than others, and a considerable number of the more useful ones are unlocked later. There's a reason that pretty much everyone that has them uses repair/flex instead of either of the armour perks, flak tailgun over normal rear fire for bomber, and recoilless/heavy instead of normal biplane. Don't try and claim that the game is perfectly balanced in terms of plane choices.

they probably figured the game was more popular than ever with the league starting and figured this was like their only way to ever make some cash.. have to say im not too impressed with the programming too, playing on 800x600 all things on low and still it doesnt run smooth on my laptop (1.6 ghz, 1gb ram) ... sure i dont have no fancy video card but games 5 yrs ago looked about the same and they would run supersmooth or too smooth now probably >_<; boo for them >_<;

and looking at the blue perks, the two best ones (turbocharger and ultracapacitor) are the first two you get. I guess you could argue that Ace Instincts is better for true badasses, but no one's going to be good enough to get a real advantage from it unless they've played quite a bit. In which case they should just buy the freaking game already. I dunno, I mean I'd agree with you if all you got was Rubberized Hull and Reverse Thrust or something, but half my planes are outfitted with Heavy Armor and all of them have either Ultra or Turbo, so it's hard to say that level capped players are seriously disadvantaged perk-wise.

I apologize for what seems like a sudden release -- I could have done a much better job communicating to the community exactly where we're going and how we plan to get there. I hope this post will allay your suspicions that we are trying to "cash in" on the league. We have been focused on nothing but release for at least the last 4 months: stress testing our update infrastructure, optimizing our master servers for concurrent user load, and expanding and streamlining the tutorial to help new users pick up the game. We've been telling everyone that we're "just a couple weeks away from launch" for so long that I figured an official announcement would be redundant -- in retrospect I should have made -this- post two weeks ago. So -- why release now? Because all the infrastructure is finally ready. Releasing allows us to pivot towards promotion (getting mainstream reviews, etc) which will hopefully grow the user base substantially. We simply could not afford to start mass media publicity pre-release -- the bandwidth costs alone would kill us. Altitude development has not stopped and I am very interested in seeing competitive play succeed. We will add features based on real needs identified by this league. We deliberately scheduled our free weekends around this league's schedule (Friday-Sunday, you can practice Friday and play Sat/Sun with no restrictions), and will continue to do our best to support the league -- but we can't afford to delay release another month. Note on demo restrictions: during the weekdays, and once the free weekends are over, demo users will be limited to the following planes/perks: Loopy-Tracker Bomber-Suppressor Green-Rubberized Hull Blue-Turbocharger Thanks again for your support! We will spend the next two weeks promoting Altitude far and wide, doing our best to increase the player base. For those who want to wait and see whether we can achieve critical mass--I don't blame you. Make the best of the free weekends and hopefully we will win you over with an active, growing community soon!

I for one have already bought game, I've definitely put enough time in for it to be worth $20 to me Now I just hope we'll see a nice increase in the player base.

If there's anything that's a testament of good gameplay, it's a smoothly runnign competitive scene. I'm afraid that they're rather gonna lose money (through their image) than make more by demanding this payment from league players. Not to mention a lot of league players aren't gonna buy it just 'cause they know alot of other people won't buy it either and the league will suffer from big problems. I'm pretty sure ~80% of the league players would buy the game if they were certain 80% of the league players would buy it and they would be able to have a good league, but that's just not how it works. Uncertainty will probably make the league collapse I don't know if chobopeon is planning any changes to the league to make sure players can always show up. I hope they extend the free weekends till the end of the league personally. Motivated, competitive people will certainly buy the game so they can practice during weekdays, people will be alot more secure about the league not collapsing so more will buy it too. The more casual players will maybe not buy it, but they probably wouldn't buy it without the extension either. I think thats probably the best thing they could do. There aren't many indie games with balanced competitive play that actually involves a strategic aspect. The game could lose a lot of its potential if the league collapses. I'm a casual player myself, and will probably not buy the game, but I'm not saying this out of personal interest. I even like observing the scrims, and would not like seeing this game die on a competitive level.

Less competition isn't a good thing in a competitive league -_-
