As you might remember, the TL population dropped pretty sharply after the game went out of beta, but theres still a bunch of us on every day, and there's always a few full games to join. A few people, mostly ACE and Kuja hang out in tl.altitude on quakenet irc.

and chobopeon, there's been a full league since you left, and we are currently in the midst of a third. your league unfortunately never finished (the finals were never played), but i dare say your league was the forerunner to competitive tournament play in altitude in its present form.

@Scaramanga: The game suffered an initial hit in population when they started charging for it as well as a hit in the quality of players when the apple.com store players started flooding in, but by now it's well rebounded from that. The gameplay is stable (balance changes haven't occurred for a long time and haven't been really necessary) yet the developers still release bug fixes and general polish fixes to the game every week. Every so often, new game modes are made. And as you can see, competitive Altitude is still flourishing, with leagues still occurring on a regular basis (and finishing!) This game is well worth the $20, it's no simple, easily-made flash game on the internet that can be made free. The game is completely ad-free, and Lamster has been developing this game for literally YEARS (I remember playing an earlier incarnation of this game back in 2004-2005) on his own time. Only recently has he gotten some payoff from the game. It's true that if you play this game for ~50 hours or so, its cost per hour isn't nearly as low as that of Starcraft. However, Starcraft itself is its own anomaly -- most published games you can buy at stores that have mostly a single player element (RPGs, action-adventure games) cost nearly $60 for only maybe 20-40 hours of play. I would gladly pay twice the amount I had to give in order to play this game if the developers needed it. They deserve it.

@nobodyhome: It was 4-3 for fLb, but two of the games we lost had three bomb hits on either side, but fLb's 3 hits finished the base while our three hits left theirs with a sliver of health. Ridiculously close series. Also, I was watching the old ACE vs Vapor VODs, lol. Such sloppy sloppy play, it's amazing. The good old 'no explodet' composition! Plus I had never seen that chobopeon added that bit at the end with the 'best kamikaze' 'best bomb block' etc. That was really cool.

I don't really see who can stop us. fLbSS has a decent team but they lack teamwork in neutral bomb maps. Original fLb is pretty much dead at this point, most of their players don't even play anymore.
