I've been playing ICCUP more recently in hopes to get to D+. I was very encouraged and I was doing well on a good streak. But then I started losing, and losing, and losing. I went from over 1800 points to now about 1200 points because of this losing streak.
It's so discouraging. I keep clearing my head and playing more but it's to no avail as I can't seem to win anymore. It's so frustrating.
I uploaded a couple of replays if you wanna check them out. They were randomly chosen so I don't remember the outcome. It just shows my play level currently. Any help is appreciated however I merely made this blog to vent.

600 pts is not a losing streak... try droping a full rank.. then tell me what is fustarting
|
once i start losing, i lose alot, not a whole rank though, the best way is stop playing the more you play the more you lose not because you suck, its because your emotion and mentality are not optimal. take a break do something else come back play refreshed.

I watched your reps~
In the first game I think you should of used alot more mines at your natural just outside the bridges. He didnt have overlords close by, and he constantly was trying to backdoor you when you pushed.
The other main thing was your macro slipped a few times which I think costed you the game. If you would of mined up outside your choke and then pushed with your first initial tank / goliath push, he would of lost alot of troops on his way to your natural. Or he would of waited for an overlord, and that would buy you time to macro.
Combine that with not forgetting to make tanks vults and goliaths at home, and his backdoor rush would of failed horribly, and you would not of needed to return to your main with your army. Instead you could of pushed his 3rd and possibly ended the game.

i have not watched your replays, i assume you are a zerg player?(from icon) Well i am a zerg users too. Don't get discouraged. maybe my lame story will help. I used to play starcraft back in the brood war ladder challenges days. I just returned too starcraft about 2 years ago. I imediatly started playing iccup cause i love the challenge. When i first started i struggled at D level i could maintain but not get too d+ after a few months i was able to make D+ with ease and hold it. Then some time later i made C- but could not hold it just make it. And now almost 2 years later since that D I have made it to C 2 times recently i have not had enough time 2 play last season i almost made C again i was 1 win away but due to time constraints i missed it cause the season ended. This year i have been playing far better then any year and i feel very confident i have the ability to make C+ no questions asked. (If i can just find the time)
I also want to point out not that it matters that much but when i started my apm was about 100 and eapm about 60 now my apm averages 225 and eapm 120. So the point of all this is not the get discouraged. you need to focus on your game and make sure your build orders that you use are working effecently. Most importantly i think the thing that holds alot of lower level players back (D-C- ish) is there ability to macro. Never stop building units. Every idle larva you have hurts you really bad because it is units you could have had but now lost once you have 3 idle larva.
On a final note also iccup has gotten much harder in my opinion. The skill level on starcraft players as a whole has gone up tremendously plus there are more and more players returning to the game due to sc2. when i first started iccup players online averaged about 400-500. This saturday i checked to site 2 see over 2000 players. So once again the point is stick with it don't give up watch all your replays and analyze what you did wrong. and don't froget to macro macro macro, almost every game i win vs a lesser player is simply because i just way out produce them. Even if i fucked up in every other way at the very least i just had sooooooo many more units and expansions then him.
Good luck improving if your not a zerg then i guess ignore the zerg stuff but at the same time alot of the stuff i said still applies. There are many things you can do 2 improve your game but i think mostly focus on macro. If you want to practice game with me some time msg me on iccup msg me my id is Hooktits. GLGGLLGLGLGLGLG GGGGGGGGg don't give up!

I remember I've had days where I play 20 games in a day and lose 18-19
General losing doesn't make me all that mad, it's when I make some stupid error that I get really raged and start punching things.

freedom.. thats why i have a smurf account. Its mainly an account i dont care about (if i win or loose) and i am actually doing better with it than on my main account :D... perhaps its your mental stress of your name going under that is damning you, as it has damned me in the past.

Sounds like a terrible idea if you actually want to get better at the game. Being insecure of your losses by smurfing and/or fooling around is a great way to stagnate in mediocrity.

starcraft is one game where losing is acceptable since it happens so damn much. on the bright side, you are slowly getting better as you learn from your mistakes and we all have those losing streaks every once in awhile anyway so don't worry about it.

Good point, but at least it helps you like the game for what it is, instead of quitting like some of my friends did since they lose so much

I lost about 10 games in a row at C vs foreigners when i was about to reach C+ some weeks ago, i dropped to C-. I wanted to reset stats, but theres really no point to it, now i just reached B-.
