+ Show Spoiler + It starts at around 3:20. You can see how Jaedong places his hand on the keyboard. I would just like to ask you guys on how do you do this. For me, I used to use 5-0 for hatcheries and I hit them with my left index finger. Mine: + Show Spoiler +Drones:
5 - left index finger (though sometimes I take my right hand off my mouse and use my right index finger) s - middle finger d - index finger
Lings:
s - middle finger z - ring finger
Muta:
s - ring finger m - index finger
Ultra:
s - middle finger u - index finger
Defiler:
s - middle finger f - index finger
Hydra:
s - middle finger h - index finger
Overlord:
s - middle finger o - index finger
Scourge:
s - middle finger s - middle finger
I saw Jaedong's hand placement on that video and I was like "dang, new hotkeys babeh"
I think his goes like this.
+ Show Spoiler + Left Index - Numbers (I think) Left Middle - Numbers too (I think) Left Ring - s, a Left Pink - ctrl, z (maybe, but it's kinda hard for me. I don't know for him) Thumb - space bar, m
I don't know about how he places his hand on other keys. Can you guys help me figure it out?

pretty interesting, i guess i will take a look after i finish eating and watching the gom matches

This is how like every Zerg plays hand position wise
|
they show his Lhand on one of the shows and it's totally standard, if he's based on 4 he's got his ring on S and works and if he's based on 1 he's got unit stuff going
he also has his pinkie bent very far (like pretty much every top korean zerg) so that he can keep his ring and pinkie locked into position, his index and middle are hooked at medium tension and he moves his arm not his wrist
he also mashes the hell out of his mouse and keyboard and never doubleissues
|
Uh thats pretty much all standard I think.
I use that but use pinky for not only ctrl but also a, s and other keys located there. Well actually I don't even use pinky for ctrl anymore but the part of my hand that is under the pinky.
|
how do you normally type with your left hand?
|
for mine, this is how it goes:
4sd5sd6sd(drone production during micro with mutas) 4-middle finger s-pinkie finger d-ring finger 5~0-index finger
4sh5sh6sh7sh8sh(5hatch hydra) 4~5-middle finger s-pinkie finger h-index finger 6~0-index finger
4sm5sm6sm(3hatch mutas) 4-middle finger 5~6-index finger s-pinkie finger m-thumb
I usually hotkey 1-3 for lings/hydras, 4-9 for hatcheries, 0 for lurkers (cos i can afford to reach for U and Ctrl and Shift buttons)
My F2 is towards main to upgrade/research/building, F3 for rallied area, F4 is anywhere if i wanted to do a flank, so i use F3 and F4 for that..

These threads always turn into a "Post your hotkeys!" thread :p
I really don't have anything to add on Jaedong's handposition except that it seems pretty standard for Zerg players with regards to their hotkeys (unless you're me and do 1sh2s3sh4sh5sh6sh7sh :p)
I'm just shocked at how fucking fast he is. Jesus.

Lol! Pardon me.. But i guess that's kinda standard for all zergs, probably a little in the way pinkie finger may not be used rather than ring finger..

i think he uses alt+# a lot so his pinky is on alt? i thinkkkkk never mind. thought i saw that in the video

ForGG had the wierdest hand placement ive ever seen
I don't know how he hotkeys but his hands just looked rly wierdly placed / crooked (sort of) when i saw him live
|
Yeah I hotkey the same way as the OP. It's the type of hand-positionning you have to unlearn from playing FPSs (or any other game that requires that type of navigation): + Show Spoiler + middle finger on W index on D ring finger on A thumb on space bar pinky on shift and ctrl
I'm still doing it this way because i'm more comfortable, but i may be switching some time soon since i'm back to SC for the long run

I think I have to study how to do en masse hydras using 5~0 with one hand because I used the style of Day[9], I think. I take my right hand from my mouse to press 5~0. But, atm, I use F2 for my main filled with hatcheries and 6~0 are my expos.

Can someone direct me to a thread that expands on this? I haven't found any so far..

I'm nodding over here with what red.venom said, only middle finger S/index finger O for overlord?? That is a huuuge stretch.
I go pinky on S and index finger on O

I don't play that way hand position wise. And I am a zerg.

just wait till sc2, where every importnat hotkey will be on F, D, S, or A, like it is now in wc3.
|
Because that is so relevant to SC:BW.

i think most of the important hotkeys in SC are positioned on or around w, a, s, and m. (atleast, unit upgrades)
