Businesses should not have to voice a certain opinion in order to win government contracts. This is not, however, removing anyone's right to boycott. They are still fine to say whatever they want. They just won't win contracts in Arkansas. Not everything has to be hyperbolized to the nth degree. So they are still fine to say whatever they want as long as they're willing to suffer the consequences?
Wasn't that always the idea of free speech? You can shout racist bullshit all day. Many people do in fact. That language is constitutionally protected, as in the government cannot stop them from saying that, but they do get fired and lose contracts. It's a bit questionable since this time it's the government that is doing this, but the idea behind it is classic free speech.

Free speech worked the same in Soviet Union. You could say whatever You like, as long as You were willing to suffer the consequences

Uh, if you work for the government and the government says you’re not allowed to boycott then yes people are being prevented from being allowed to boycott.

This stuff is public information and it would really baffle me to see what problems people have with a operation investing more onto job growth and subsidizing their property taxes.
The law hasn't gone into effect because de santis saw it was really really dumb and is hoping people forget about it now. He got his headline, and because the Reps do not hold their own people accountable that it was dumb does not matter as long as pwned the libs publicly they consider it a win.
Generally people get mad about billions spent on useless breaking down infrastructure, but no Rep would dare point how useless and expensive the wall was.

So the gun control bill, such as it is, has passed the Senate with the support of 15 Republicans. Probably tells you how much it actually does. It almost feels worse than getting nothing at all, because when this bill passes and we still have a shitload of gun violence in America now we can't say we're doing nothing anymore.
But also, now the ULTRA MAGA gang has put those 15 Republicans on their shit list. Including Mitch McConnell, who gave them the 6-3 SCOTUS majority that's literally passing all their wet dream rulings right now.
Not the brightest bunch.

Speaking of Scotus, hard to believe but they actually just did overturn Roe.
|
Nah, not hard to believe. They told us exactly who they were, and who they were working for. They told us already, the problem was that their draft was leaked, not that they slipped and accidentally wrote the wrong opinion on the case. Everyone saw it coming.
This is so fucked.

I don't hear any Republicans crying about political activism from the bench now. Weird.
Glad that millions of lives were just ruined so that Republicans can have their little warm-and-fuzzy feelings in fantasy land. That's worth a little sexual subjugation.

Well this summer start wasn't too bad in the US all things considered. But now I feel we're going to have a repeat, if not worse, of last year's Summer of Unrest.

I always knew time machines were real, we now can make the world a better place as we have been transported back 50 years.

What a depressing week this has been as an American
|
Very depressing. So odd that almost 50% of the population what a emperor/theocracy. And to pick such an embarrassing figure to run it. You would think you would at least want someone remotely impressive.

I have to say I feel less and less that the US and Europe share the same destiny, and in a way, I care less about the US internal politics than I used to. I am just sorry for the decent and reasonable people living there. I would try to gtfo to a better place if I lived in the US.

And just like that America has regressed 50 years. Just absolutely horrible.

I can believe somehow that we're behind the Taliban in women rights in some states now.

Attempted revolutions, and revolutions through the courts are not as fun as they were made out to be.

I for one enjoy my toxic, abusive relationships, and my temperament has cooled down quite a bit now that the aggressor making unilateral demands has gotten what they wanted at my expense.

Guess I'll buy stock in condom and Rx companies. There's bound to be an explosion for those.
