I’ m curious why your boycotting the Qatar Grand Prix?

0.5s ahead in qualy, pfff. Checo 11th on softs, Leclerc 13th on softs, what a weird qualifier. Mazepin 4 seconds behind Ham in Q1 while the rest of the field is all within 1.5s lmao. Hoping for a clean race tomorrow, no shenanigans in T1 pls.

And with just hours to go before the start of the race, the stewards handed Verstappen a five place grid drop and two penalty points - despite having "sympathy" with the Dutchman because of the "lack of display of the yellow light panels, no dash warning lights and no audio signal to the driver" to warn him of the issue.
Their statement said: "notwithstanding the fact the team argued that the turning off of the yellow sector on the FIA marshalling system some 34 second prior to the driver reaching the yellow flag, signified that it was 'play on', it was the driver’s responsibility to take the appropriate action when entering what was a double yellow flag area. Exceptionally harsh with these discribed circumstances. However the team should really know better, why take any risk in such a matter; Verstappen was enough behind Bottas on the track to have the time to back off after the Finn didn't improve. Sigh..
|
Also apparently Bottas had single yellow for 3 places but Verstappen double yellow for 5 places penalty even though he didn't really have a way to know that. Damn.

An eternity later Alonso back on the podium, happy to see him there again. Poor Bottas though ...
Besides the tire problems of those with 1 pit strategies, pretty mediocre race.

Not exactly known for their great human rights record Qatar. Workers are dying by the thousands as slaves to create the stadiums for the World Cup right now.
The other middle eastern countries aren't great either, but Qatar is (to my knowledge) currently one of the worst

Q1 is a "yoke" with everyone cluster fucking after T25.
Bottas still cant catch a break...
AM 17,18th. lol?

The last corner

He was miles clear, pretty big fuck up then but he won't have known how far ahead he was.
As MB said, he needs to hope that's not a new gearbox.
|
yep, sucks to be Max; for sure.
|
In the ff-ing final corner. This sport is bad for my health.
|
That might have been the moment Max lost the championship, when it could have been the moment where he won it
|
If Max manages to recover to 3rd, it'll be a hard fight in Abu Dhabi for the championship. Whoever finishes ahead, wins. There's been a couple times Max could've won the championship this season with a bit more luck. The blowout in Baku, the contact in Silverstone, the qualifying today.
I'm pretty sure he has his delta on the dash, and he is a good enough driver that he knows even without the delta that he's on a scorcher. If he braked just 3m earlier for the final corner, he would've been in pole by a hefty margin with how hard he sent it on that lap.

This circuit gives me bad vibes for some reason, not sure if its because of all the concrete barriers or the narrow track, or perhaps both.

There's some fairly blind corners as well. I'm not sure if you've seen the onboard of Hamilton impeding Mazepin from FP3, but it was kind of crazy how late Mazepin was able to see Hamilton. They're extremely lucky he had a bit of track to dodge around him there.

Doesn't he have a target time on his wheel dash ? I am certain that they know their deltas to whatever reference they put on , he knows the target time he needs to hit for sure , he knew he was up BIG , he didnt have tires left for the end of the lap which cost him the lock up , its not a "mistake" in a pure driving kind of way ,it was a mistake in the lap strategy in regards to tire perseveration , also this time around Bottas will get clear instructions of "DONT LET HIM PASS" so not sure he can be 2nd or first by T1 , but F2 race showed that the run for T1 will be crazy and if he can go side by side with Lewis he will push him and risk taking them both out , for Max 2 DNF`s for him and lewis means he is champion , so he will risk everything whenever he can , I have no doubt.
|
He knows his time relative to his last lap but unless he was told before starting it what time Lewis and Bottas did he wouldn't have known.

Yeah also Bottas got tagged from behind by an Alpha Romeo overtaking him. The barriers are blocking much of what they can see in front of them. Most drivers said its a fun track, and I hope Im wrong but I kinda expect quite a few incidents tonight in those blind corners.
