I guess it could be just rumor based on another, but Chelsea seem to be ready to sell Tammy Abraham to Atalanta. That would probably indicate another striker moving in Chelsea. Seems to click together quite nicely. Same with Grealish saga, Villa confirmed Danny Ings deal from Southampton. Villa probably has the Ings budget anyway though and it doesn't seem like a direct 1-1 replacement with Grealish, but who knows... Some stuff should be confirmed today, I think.
Plus some rumors about Duvan Sapata moving from Atalanta to Inter to replace Lukaku - it all makes sense

Incredible what's going on with Harry Kane. Absolute shitshow and I feel like he won't get what he wants in the end

Hope he wont! Such behaviour is inacceptable imo.

I don’t think Kane signs that last contract extension without promises of Spurs being competitive and the gentleman’s agreement he can go at a reasonable price if they aren’t.
Kane’s lived up to his side of the deal, and is relatively underpaid too compared to some of his contemporaries.
I’m not a huge fan of going on strikes and forcing moves by any means, I don’t massively begrudge Kane on the other hand.
Also whoop, got Supercup tickets!

Generally speaking gentleman's agreements are a really, really bad idea. I think part of it falls down to Kane's brother being his agent and not necessarily being the most qualified professional around.
Once there are no details on paper, it comes down to what was said, what is considered reasonable compensation and so on and that's always going to be a massive mess.

I honestly don't know what has happened but its a surprise to me as the one thing I heard about Kane (long before this issue) is that he has an impeccable professional attitude.

That, plus I think it also comes down to Kane being a Spurs fan. That desire to win something at Spurs, presumably wanting to do right by the club and not fuck them over, or disappoint the fans probably comes into play more than most high profile deals these days,
Besides the pay rise, it’s a pretty damn beneficial deal for the club, Kane’s on a long term deal that preserves his value and is far enough away from his contract’s end that he can’t play hardball approaching the last year.
One should insist on things in writing, absolutely but plenty of gentleman’s agreements work out because of professional courtesy, or a general personal understanding. I’d imagine it’s rather difficult to negotiate with someone who’s previously done you right, with the slant ‘put it in writing i don’t want you screwing me’. Which as you say is why having a more ruthless agent is probably helpful.
Different calibre of player, good as Kane is but Ferguson handled Ronaldo’s exit pretty masterfully to get another good year out of him, and then let him depart to Madrid on good terms.

kane should only blame himself for the mess hes in. he signed a SIX year extension. if he wanted to give tottenham a chance before deciding to move then 2-3 years is enough. signing six is just stupidity

This.
I wouldn't sign a 6 year contract if I know I dont wanna stay there 100% next season. Might be greed or false promises, kicking out managers, not stable work environment but you commit to 6 years still. The contract has to be fullfulled from both sides.

Tension skyrocketing between #Messi and the #Barcellona after La Liga denied the ok to register the new contract.#Laporta asked the Argentine to consider a new reduction in his salary. We work to resolve but these are hot hours @tvdellosport #Barca
|
Messi's actually going to lave Barca at this rate. I can barely believe it. Can't wait for him to come to Arsenal
|
what a mistake. he should be staying at barca even if he had to cut his salary by half. the wages he was on was ridiculous and he was absolutely a huge contributing factor to barca's financial issues. not even messi deserves 1m/week.
|
I think Messi will take that Mess will take that massive paycut, but he has reserved that for his return to childhood club Newell's old boys. Hope he goes there, and not for even more money in China or MLS
|
Messi did agree to a 50% wage cut. It's just that they can't do anything due to the wage cap. Strictly enforcing the wage cap based on last year's revenue seems like a very poor decision by La Liga. United alone has already spent more on transfer fees than the whole primera division iirc and now they're also losing the best player in the world.
|
It's on Barca's official website now that he will not be continuing at the club.
Do man city go for him? Who can afford his wages?

Aw man, hope he doesn’t end up at a PSG or whatever. Sigh.

Pep gonna nullify Grealish's contract to get that Messi signing

Thats exactly what I thought!
Also, no one will want Kane now :D

All the summer they kept saying that Messi would renew after Copa America
I don't want to believe it... Bartomeu really fucked the club. I will miss watching him weekly with us

Yeah there have been some terrible owners in the past, shady owners ruining clubs in England with terrible decisions and false funds etc but Bartomeu has literally taken a worlds top club and put it in the shitter in the space of 3-4 years.....unbelievable really.
Aguero went to Barca on shit wages to play with Messi, he has yet to sign a formal contract supposedly...hope he bails on them cuz he deserves better money and end to his career, not fighting for top 4 in La Liga which i think even that is a struggle for Barca now lol
