I started ICCUP recently. A few seasons ago I made it to C as a protoss.
Now I made a new account, because I want to start new as a fresh Terran, since I'm working on TvP at the moment, and I've been able to beat C-/C players with it. 2-0 - looking good.
Then I bump into a D- person and decided to play him, considering my T isn't that good. I'm pretty confident I'll win and play on. BUT he went double gate, then went fast dt's and I lost.
I then go on to check his record, and he was 6-36.
I hate when you lose to players you should DEFINITELY win against!

sometimes the best strategies are the cheesiest. Don't sweat it, you would win him in macro war like most good players do. This type of stuff used to piss me off, but I've gotten to the point where I feel calm knowing I could win a best of 3 with them.

If you care so much about winning, you should play safer when playing against people you think are much worse than you.
|
I hate messing around on West and getting cheesed by an FPM player on LT or something like that. Everyone who's watching doesn't understand the concept of cheese (since they all play fpm) and thus believes the other guy is the best player ever (even though he must be below D- iCCup)
That gets pretty irritating because no matter how many wins you get, as long as someone beats you with any sort of strategy, they like the automatically think that person is better.
Shit sucks.

I think it just shows you how bad your T is and how incapable us Protoss players are of using T

that's why my T can win against AT LEAST C- players, right?
|
Eh. You lost to this guy. You've beaten guys who would beat this guy easily. Maybe you would beat this guy if you played him again.
Maybe you really are more skilled, and he just got lucky.
But keep in mind that the perfect strategy accounts for everything, and maybe you can refine your play to deal with (considering D-, probably poorly executed) cheese.
Oh, and to respond to OP title... yes, it's happened to me before, and I didn't like it.

Standard TvP is easy though, macro macro macro, oh he made a mistake, push, win. If you don't want to lose to this, just TvP a lot and you will notice low unit count and timings etc etc. Its my honest opinion that c- toss players are probably around d+ terran level (not using terran, but skill wise) because they seem to have it easier at low levels with use of cheese and the terrans and zergs not yet having the mechanics and micro required to be good at TvP and such.

Yep =) TvP is all about timing but as I keep playing, I'm learning more and more about this matchup. It's fun though and definitely my favorite

Yes! Someone else who shares my love of TvP. Everyone tells me that Terrans should focus on TvZ because everyone hates people who are only good at TvP and no good at TvZ. Well, FUCK YOU ALL. HAH. I NOW HAVE MORAL SUPPORT.

Fuck yeah~ All I can win is TvP lol. But I used to be a Protoss so that would kind of explain why I can play it -_-;

share your secrets with me! I can't win a TvP to save my life. Maybe its because I've been playing zerg for a while, but winning with Terran has become harder than ever before.

2 fac. Build an engineering bay and float it over their minerals. 3 tanks + 5 marines + 15 stacked scvs > EVERYTHING. MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHA

Well if you really want me to help you can msg me NrG.Bamboo @ iCCup whenever and I'd be glad to critique a replay or something :p

Sometimes I wonder if there are a few individuals who lose like 30 games on purpose, then absolutely destroy someone to make them feel horrible.
|
Yeah there are, but its usually found in 2v2.
People will get D- on purpose and then play normally so that their partner gets bonus points to rank up faster.
|
ive never seen that happen on iccup...someone getting on a D- rank to give their ally a few extra points...it wouldn't be that helpful anyway - most likely they will still be a D rank team o_O
