A rivalry in any sport makes it a bigger spectacle. Even more so when both players are evenly matched and have had a lot of back and forth battles. Alas, in a game such as BW, a tiny skill difference can be a chasm of epic proportions and what might feel even, might infact be anything but. Now, sit down kids and let me tell you a story about the day I finally bested an opponent like none other on my own terms.
Preface: Years had passed since we were first locked into combat. It was the days of ASL2 and Flash returning to seize the BW throne for himself. A time where I was deeply immersed in maintaining BW coverage and gave no regard to my BW skills (I still don't!). A time when the scene was blossoming before Blizzard decided to stop ignoring a vibrant scene that was growing on its own and injected their own...
A time when, well, you get the drift so let's just get started already:
Game 1: A fairly normal macro game with a 1 rax opener to start things up. I ended up roaming the map like a boss and killed his fourth plus pressured his third, but that was it. Despite some good holds, a combination of bad macro and some cows in the late game ended up being the final nail in the coffin as I was pushed back and eventually lost the game.
v1 1-0 Bigfan Game 2: Another normal macro game, a 1 rax FE. A better start though his muta flock slowly withered down my eco despite my best attempts at defense. A large attack of mine was the turning point in this game as my forces were defeated outside his exp as shown below. With a smaller army at home and my exp besieged by unexpected guardians, I lost my exp. Once his final attack arrived, I only had so much to defend with. Did I mention that my opponent infested my cc? (what BM!)
v1 2-0 Bigfan Game 3: 14CC from yours truly to spice things up. On top of that, I even caught 4 lurkers in the open and lost several units at best. Uber micro at its finest. Unfortunately, that's as good as this game got haha. I searched for his third for a bit before finding it, however, he had already fortified it by then while I had to defend his lurker attack at my exp. I defended another attack as shown below and even killed his third. Alas, I missed the lurker drops which snuck into my main and exp devastating my eco. I gg'd shortly after cleaning them up.
v1 3-0 Bigfan Game 4: Yet another macro game... See the pattern? Some good lurker defense early on. My opponent goes for a contain then go for mass expansions, a strategy that only the best of the best Zerg pros can pull of! I feel proud to be playing someone of his caliber. A 5 base economy to a paltry 2 base one was quite the travesty. My defeat was sealed 10s of mins later as his ultralisks barred their tusks at my army.
v1 4-0 Bigfan Game 5: It was finally time to bust out my best moves, to become one with the cheese. A proxy 8 rax was planted behind his mineral only. 3 marines took out some drones, but were moped up afterwards. I would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for dem pesky lings! Despite a decent start, his mutas contained me as I teched up. Going for a drop, my base was left more vulnerable than usual and a large lurker+muta counter came knocking at my expansion just in time for a quick gg.
v1 5-0 Bigfan Game 6: It was time to try other races. If I can't win with Terran, then I'll do with toss! Blocking his exp with a pylon and getting a nexus before cannon was the way to go. I felt good about myself! Well, did until he just ran past my cannons into my main, killed probes and almost the nexus itself while expanding to a third and saturating behind it! The humanity! Even my inner Bisu was of no help once the hydras came rolling in...
v1 6-0 Bigfan Game 7: Having won no games so far today, I finally decided to play the most OP race in existence as demonstrated by my kind opponent. I rolled Zerg while he rolled Terran. In order to get him to sympathize with my plight and introduce him to the hall of losers, I also decided to try one of the most famous strategies in SC history, the zergling rush. 4 pool it was! The rest was history...
v1 6-1 Bigfan
"And so it came to pass that the player, who once bathed in the limelight of so many victories, lost... And his legacy upon which so many of those crushing victories was built fell into ruin. In the ashes of defeat, all that remains is nothing."

How unsurprising :D I wouldn't say crushing it. I was just bad at dealing with lurker openings at the time since my TvZs were mostly vs mutas with the rare lurker opening. This allowed him to contain me more than usual leading to him taking an eco lead due to grabbing bases behind it.
lol well, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade

Yes. It was my first attempt at playing online (on a 56k), the opponent asked "rush or no rush" in the chat, but I had no idea what it meant. A few minutes later I understood
Starcraft is just a brutal game, lol

This is like the most textbook tragedy of any iccup terran
And good karma when the offracer doesn't make a ling-tight wall, which any self-respecting terran would instinctively do if possible when facing Z.
I will try and install some kind of BW

It's ok, from the description of the game, you had to go and try to kill him right there and then anyways.
