I will complete this raid. I don't care what it takes.

They have this easy to understand revenge story on the surface. And then they go full tin foil hat with the end game. I'm loving it. I don't have skin in the game in regards to raid, but I have raided in WoW/FFXIV, do you guys like this structure of a super hard normal raid? This difficulty seems like it'd be more along the lines of a Prestige/Mythic/Savage difficulty.

WoW and FFXIV even have some Mythic (equivalent of Prestige) only mechanics which are story canon. Like lets say normal mode Riven (I haven't seen any raid footage yet so excuse my ignorance), can push you out of the raid last second when you defeat her on normal, then maybe in Prestige you actually get to kill her. stuff like that.

I respect that decision and think they should keep the full raid that hard. Few game designers would make it and I think it makes the raids something special that people really enjoy. I just wish they would design a less mechanically complex version of the raid for release down the line so I didn’t have to watch it on youtube. But they have a hard enough time getting these current raids out, so it is a minor complain. I might go crazy and try to this one now that I got Forsaken on the cheap. I was always raid ready for the last one, just never found a team. But I say that every time.

Like I said, I'm ignorant so I could be wrong, but that was told to me by one friend of mine who does do the content.

Usually video game stories are about as subtle as a WWE feud. However, Bungie gave us the "Doink The Clown" of WWE storylines. i'm very pleasantly surprised by how good the story arc is in Forsaken.

Like I said, I'm ignorant so I could be wrong, but that was told to me by one friend of mine who does do the content. The DPS requirements are legit, but nothing that can’t be solved by just grinding your face against the game until your light is high enough to dump enough DPS. Mechanically there are a lot of mechanics that will wipe a team unless everyone is working together, communicating and able to execute in a tight window. And those mechanics often need to be repeated several times before the raid creates a checkpoint. Those mechanics are the puzzle as well. A puzzle in the middle of a gun fight. For example, the last raid would teleport haft the team into an alternative plane, where 3 of the players would see three of four different symbols. The other three players would need wait until each of the three teleported players called out their symbol and melee the symbol that they didn’t call out. They would need to do this three/four times and then they could DPS the boss. They also need to do all of this while sliding down a ramp in the alternative plane and fighting off hordes of dogs in the boss fight. Screw this up even once, the team wipes. The first part doesn’t require a full team. It is just a level check. The second part requires a team that knows what they are doing, which makes match making not viable.

if you get a wide variety of weapons all around a certain level, say 503, sooner or later a few of them will roll with just the right setup that you prefer. Then once you start moving up and your prime engram drops give you a 520 weapon you can use it to infuse the 503 weapon ... and it will only cost you Glimmer. You do have to keep a wide variety of weapons stocked up and have to get a bit lucky. its a nice way to keep your weapons the way you like them and not have to spend precious Masterworks Cores infusing them to the highest level possible.

Right, but you already do a lot of grinding just to get into the raid. There's obviously a HUGE disparity between the difficulty of this raid and wrath of the machine. I have to wonder if thats appropriate for "Normal" difficulty.

The main hurdle for LFG groups will be getting people at a high enough level and overcoming repeated failure, because the level recommendation is still probably too low. I think you need to be like 560+ to do this raid properly.

our clan has done the 1st 2 encounters at ~530 average and ~540 average respectively and that's still pretty rough
