Form Spreadsheet If a moderator could add this as a moderator note at the top it'd be appreciated.

The whole site is an undisclosed Blizzard ad.

We need a serious alternative to wowhead and mmo champ that isn't abusing its users for every cent they can get and blizzard should be on board with that rather than propping up those two sites

Granted I hardly frequent these sites but I see no issues here, Wowhead is mostly malware and CPU bombing that's been going on forever (pay us premium and we'll stop attacking you, hahaha), MMO champ is worse: They knowingly and regularly serve malware 'cause the unreliable & unvetted ad networks with it pay more per view Advertisements specifically for amazon without disclosing their business relationship Corrupt forum mods and offtopic forums filled with trash which pushes the WoW news off the page - their general offtopic has 2.5x more users than their WoW forum at the moment. They have power users which are known to everyone to run multiple accounts and post 10 threads a day on politically charged or generally controversial topics without mod action Blizzard's promotion of these sites over others is an endorsement of such behavior and prevents fair competition from better services

Wowhead is a bloated mess and I'm surprised it hasn't gone the way of Thottbot.

Yeah, and it's not like they do investigative journalism or reviews, Most of the shit on MMO-Champion is word-for-word blue posts, tweets, etc about certain topics or guides about stuff happening in WoW. There is not really a narrative they're spinning. No one is going to MMOC for critique. Anyway, while the Amazon disclosure thing might be considered problematic, I'm pretty sure they've been linking to Amazon for that kind of stuff for YEARS before the Amazon buyout. I don't think its malicious but its probably negligent.

Same, I just use it as a news aggregator once a week or so and I guess my adblockers hide all the malware or whatever. So I am hard time sympathizing aswell.

Wowhead on the other hand is a sluggish poorly optimized disaster no matter how you try to remedy it. Awful site.

Take WowDB as an example. It has most of what I would consider Wowhead's core features, but you really, really noticed the ones it's missing (such as the map showing where NPC/drops/nodes are located). You also really notice that it has no community worth mentioning, and lacks the years and years of comments Wowhead has built up. So everyone would love a better Wowhead, but good luck making one.

Everyone on my server's gonna have it on because they outnumber horde like 30 to 1 and have their own continent, why not? You'd level 20% faster. I think its supposed to be cross server? I'd imagine they'd just put you versus a server thats biased ally
