Dana White is a great promoter. He lies a lot. Some people make a big deal out of lying but i don't think that it is a big deal. Dana's willingness to introduce independent USADA testing makes the UFC more legit than the big 4 sports .. NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL. Dana's willingness to swallow the loss of a guy like Jon Jones to give the sport some semblance of being clean is commendable. independent USADA testing doesn't make the UFC 100% clean but it makes the sport as clean as it can possibly be. i'll prolly remember UFC 129 'til the day i die. what a great event ... and the UFC spent big big big money to make it an amazing experience in a giant domed stadium.
i sense he respects every $ every single customer spends on the UFC . Overall, i rate Dana 9/10.
Valeri Shevchenko even though my dad taught me that the only russian i should trust is smirnoff...... i luv valeri shevchenko and i hope she wins tonight... she is so classy and so tough.

I guess you could argue first round was close, so if they went the other way on the first round, would be 30-26, but yeah, probably a Canadian lol.
Usually I'm not for stopping fights early, but that one should've been stopped. Whenever the ref was about to step in and open his mouth I'm like k finally, and then he just tells him to keep fighting. Poor guy.
For sure it should have been stopped, he had no chance to win and was getting beat up super bad. I mean close int he sense tucker wasn't murdered like the last two rounds but he did get dropped by a punch!

I just have it running in the background, while watching some TV, so if anything interested happens, I'll post about it, however no promises.
If it's not an exciting one, I just don't buy it, but I have all of them at least running in the background.
edit: Also the arm triangle that Ketlen Vieira won with was super impressive, no idea how you can get that kind of leverage with just 1 arm being in such an awkward position.
Indeed, looks like USADA/WADA is still just getting it figured out... I think stuff like Turinabol has been in Jon's system for a long time, but the first time he got caught. I imagine there's a few more obscure anabolics that don't alter test and estrogen levels too much in micro doses, and if they're not tested for very specifically you don't see them.
the first time JJ was caught with clomiphene his brother, an NFL player, was nailed for the same substance.
about cheating: i suspect its a constant war of advanced biochemistry on both sides. you've got the designer steroid makers creating new steroids that can't be detected combined with new "stacks" constantly being invented by DRs for athletes. Then, USADA is constantly improving their testing to try to catch up with the newly invented cheating methods.
the olympics now retest samples years later with newly invented detection methods and catch new cheaters.

Were you not super mad about ufc 206 because of the lack of star power? And the main event was great in that one.
I like to see you coming around to the quality of fights mattering, but I do think they should have thrown a cerrone or lawler or some other guaranteed action guy to make me want to buy it. Dj falling out was a huge downer, at least those who did pay got a good show.

Yeah, not big names, but the fights turned out to be exciting. Pretty frequent occurrence... But if that's all that mattered, we'd all be watching bellator or some even smaller circuit promotions. There's plenty of funky stuff that goes on there.

i said a lot of stuff about UFC 206 over the course of its ill fated promotion.
i got into UFC 206 for free and i was satisfied with that. the UFC 206 main event was "meh". it featured a fake belt and 1 participant who couldn't get to within 3 lbs of 145. Pettis clearly was not 100%; he claimed he broke his hand on the first punch as an excuse for his clearly compromised physical state. The UFC 206 main event was "meh". The other fights were great for the price i paid.
The original price of the tickets i wanted was $400/each. Due to dynamic pricing and lack of star power on the card the price for those tickets fell to ~$125 over 10 weeks. Then, the day before the fight UFC started giving away tickets on Queen's Quay. i snapped up a pair.
i was totally satisfied with UFC 206. if i had to pay $400 i don't think i would've been happy.. but at this point that is pure speculation.
stick guys like GSP and Lesnar on a PPV along with a real belt or two and the UFC will have no problem selling out the ACC at the original prices they offered for UFC 206. Give Toronto a Fight Night Card and they'll have to charge Fight Night prices to sell out. Hence, the prices fell fast and the UFC ended up giving away tickets.
i'm ur typical Toronto UFC fan reflecting the general attitudes of most of the fan-base.
