After losing our first encounter with the nefarious Zerg JieXian, we managed to win the second one in true boxer fashion. It was an epic showdown of pure micro and aggressive against a resilient Zerg who showed no signs of giving up. It was thought that this was the last time we'll meet but it seemed that our destinies are forever intertwined. We had to face JieXian and his troops yet again on the map known as Circuit Breaker. What follows below is a diary of our last encounter, one that contains valuable information which can be used to change the tides of battle in our favour in future battles:
May 9, 2015 @ 0:00 Having landed on Circuit Breaker, our strategy was to all-in the hell out of the Zerg until he is wiped out or has fled the area.
May 9, 2015 @ 3:09 With good blockage of our base opening, the plan was set in motion. 3 rax were added for a total of 4 rax. The plan was to overwhelm the Zerg early on. It seems that the Zerg was planning on going for a 3 hatch build but that was all our worker scout managed to relay to us before he succumbed to his injuries in the field. Your sacrifice will not be in vain!
What's better than a 3 rax all-in? 4 rax all-in! May 9, 2015 @ 5:18 Mustering up a small sizable force, it was time to engage the Zerg and hit him where it hurts the most, his expansion. Our advanced technology detected no signs of Zerg activity at the 6 o'clock thus it was the most ideal area to move through. We thought that we had the upper hand but the Zerg was ready. Our forces were wrecked by the impenetrable sunken defense!
Sunkens 1 and Terran 0 May 9, 2015 @ 8:12 Realizing the drastic situation, our commander made the strategic choice to go for a precarious expansion. It was the best way to try and increase our income in the hopes of regaining lost ground after the failed all-in. Luckily, the Zerg was going to expand as well and had a paltry army consisting of mutalisks. The commander also ordered a large army of marines, firebats and medics to be trained and assembled for a follow-up assault. This time, the Zerg must be broken!
May 9, 2015 @ 10:49 Though the upcoming fight was going to be tough, I hear that morale was quite high among the troops. Many were ready to lay down their lives for the good of Terrans everywhere. Things looked like they could go in our favour as well but reports from the field state that the Zerg was ready once again. My comrades' blood was spilled despite all of the preparations. Just what are we dealing with here? I keep asking myself this question.
Sunkens 2 and Terran 0 May 9, 2015 @ 15:25 After the last disgraceful battle, it was time for the big guns; tanks and vessels. Our engineers have finished buildings factories and starports to provide us with these war machines. No doubt that the Zerg will be shaking in terror once he sees them. During the attack, our commander planned for us to take another expansion to supplement our current income and stay on par with the Zerg. The plan seemed to work, that is, until our frontline leader rammed our first vessel into scourge and directed our troops and tank to attack a field of burrowed lurkers. I don't even want to imagine what it feels like to be skewed to death by 4-5 spikes at a time.
Remains of a great army Things were only made worse by the Zerg counter-attacking our barely defended newly established expansion. As this was getting cleaned up, we saw an opportunity to strike the Zerg's fourth base but that came to a complete halt due to lurkers. Of course, we are terrans! We take pride in our own resilience on the battlefield, thus, it was decided that the whole army will march towards that base and take it down before its up and running!
May 9, 2015 @ 18:00 This was it, the deciding battle. If we manage to take down the Zerg's fourth base and keep our third mining, we could take the upper hand, otherwise, this whole encounter will only end in defeat. As we attacked the fourth base of the Zerg, it seemed that he had a similar idea. Before we knew it, our third was flooded with zerglings and lurkers. Our troops were unable to handle the large force and had to retreat to the expansion while our main army was struggling with the Zerg at the fourth:
Expansion lost!
Heavy casualties It was at this point that I started to wonder what went wrong. Each single engagement ended in a failure. Did we underestimate the Zerg? Possibly. Did we not have enough troops? More likely considering our experience. No doubt though, that the greatest contributing factor was our commander's decision-making skills. Alas, it was too late. Once the Zerg managed to make his way to our expansion with accursed defilers and their darkswarm spell, we got the hell out of there so that we can live to fight another day.
This is just the middle!

When you move into late game tvz (as terran) you need either mass vessels, a coordinated mass drop, or heavy tanks (2-3factories). you cant just remain on a bunch of rax. There's a reason most terrans switch to mech late game vs zerg. kool BR though, fun to see something not sc2.

This is excellent! We hadn't had a BW battle report in many months if I'm not mistaken. It is always fresh to see one in TL Blog section! I look forward to the sequel!

I had two port there for SK Terran but my control needs work and my APM isn't good enough to maintain production and put pressure on the Zerg at the same time. Mass drops is not my usual playstyle though I have incorporated drops here and there (including a drop in the second game which I won) so it's a future goal once I can keep up with everything. As for tanks and mech, I've opened up with mech and also transitioned to it in many games before. It's a fun style of play but bio, more specifically, SK Terran is still my preference in TvZ so I rarely use tanks. Thanks for the compliment
