This is a battle report of the first game of a BO3 series against a 1800 Bulgarian Zerg player that I played several months back on iCCup. This was quite a long game hitting around 50 minutes so the BR is quite long as well. Hope you all enjoy it!
The game starts off on fighting spirit per usual. I spawn in the top right corner of the map while my zerg opponent spawns in the bottom left corner, unknown to me at the time:
Deciding to do the Bisu build or a variation, a forge is started. A gateway is placed to help with the block and to get out the early zealot to scout around:
Upon scouting the FE, my zerg opponent grabs his natural, adds another hatchery for his own block and then grabs his third after he lays down his pool. Truly a greedy opponent Hatchery at 12 and double hatchery at 16? What is this greediness? :O
After establishing the expansion and ordering more workers to mine precious minerals and gas, the time has come to build an army. 3 gates are added with a cc. In the meantime, a manlot scouts and relays important intel on the zerg's base and army positioning. He manages to escape albeit severly wounded and gets recognized for his achievement back home. Last I heard, he was on the cover of all dem power magazines. yes, that's a 20ish cc Called manlots cause they are badass with their blades!
My Zerg opponent goes for the typical imba units, mutas. Of course, I'm all ready placing not one, but two cannons at my mineral lines. Double insurance Psychic powers?
As time passes, a couple of small engagements take place. I decide to launch the first strike on his third. Sunken colonies stand no chance against my highly trained manlots however enforcements are quickly called in to dispatch the remaining survivors: Disruption successful
Screwing up my wall in, my zerg opponent decides to take advantage of the slip up. A zergling force numbering in the 20s is mobilized and manages to penetrate into my base but casualties are very minimal: oops, my bad
Right after cleaning up the zerglings, I launched a large attack on the zerg's third base. Resistance was met from mutas but my combination of dragoons+corsairs proved to be much stronger causing them to retreat. Severe damage was inflicted on his third including the loss of many of his workers: Tear it up!
Rebuilding some of the army lost in defense of his third, my opponent decides that I'm most vulnerable now and attacks with his whole army. With no observers, I had to retreat back to my photon cannons and get contained by lurkers. Eventually, I manage to break through and met with his second force, hydras this time which I dispatch off: + Show Spoiler +
my thoughts? f!@#
Since my opponent had all his units in my contain, I use the shuttle to shuttle 4 zealots to his third decimating it and all it's workers: that's many workers dead, no?
The battle continued back home but I was able to push him back eventually and he retreated. I was able to break the contain which lasted for a while eventually marching to his restablished third and yet again removing its existance from this world: No army to defend? sweet, thanks! :D
He launches a counter attack yet again but against my 6 cannons and small army, the hydra force was easily crushed: Nothing beats hearing hydras dying as a protoss, let me tell you. truly a spectacular sight to behold
Since he had problems with multitasking, I decide to set a little trap. I attack his fourth with a small portion of my army (minimap for details) then drop his main with 2 zealots and a stalker. The results of how well it went speak for themselves:
Since I've gained the upper hand, I march my whole army and crush his third leaving him with only 2 bases, one which had major damage inflicted on it just a while back: Pop! goes the hatchery
I establish a third and continue to pressure him as much as I'm able to:
Not giving up and planning to fight to the bitter end, he decides to drop my main with overlords. Several overlords full of zerglings and hydras were dropped into my base while I'm distracted cleaning his large group of zergings, lurkers and a defiler in the bottom right: damage is overwhelming before getting cleaned up
He sees the opportunity to attack my third while I retreat to defend my main and succeeds in taking it down only once. The pictures below tell the story. He tried several times after this successful operation but never managed to do so: + Show Spoiler +
Seizing the shift of momentum to his side, he scouts and demolishes my hidden fourth base. I end up re-establishing it again but he takes down later on much to my dismay: At least my carriers got out lol
While I manage to occupy him at his third, I drop 4 zealots into his main and manage to take down his pool(hive/spire taken down by an earlier drop squad):
We end up engaging in an air battle outside his fourth as well. His combination of devourers+defiler beat my corsairs+carriers due to the OP spell of plaguuuuuuuuuu:
I could tell that he was running out of units and steam so I decide to just keep on taking down bases and only engage at the end. A 10 manlot hit squad was dispatched to attack his re-established fourth base. Despite having 3 lurkers ready, my manlots manage to tear it down with several survivors as well:
At this point, he was starving for minerals(so was I lol). I attacked his fourth unleashing psionic storms that will forever remain etched into his memories. With no army left, I stormed the base(pun intended), destroying it and getting that much closer to completely shutting down his eco:
After some more scouting, I find his final base and decide to deal the final blow: Using a shuttle to lift ht to high ground to storm
At this point, I know I've pretty much won so I end up forgetting about my workers leading to this travesty: NOT THE PROBES! ANYTHING BUT THE PROBES! :'(
With his last breath and his chances of victory close to impossible, a last ditch drop is done by my opponent. Alas, several zerglings will not stop the mighty protoss army(with templars lol): and that's the gg folks!
Hope you guys enjoyed the long read. There's another game or two that we played after this so if there is interest, I can try to BR those though I likely won't be using anywhere near the same amount of pictures for illustrations especially when you screw up narrations and captions and have to redo everything XD Since someone will point it out, I'm aware of how high my gas was getting up to (should've went more templars) and that I was zealot heavy at times in the late game but nothing in the protoss army strikes fear as much as manlots do! :D All comments are welcome!

why the BM carriers though lol
ZvP is good stuff!
There was no carrier BM I just took a fourth although I should've taken a closer one lol then decided to just go mass carriers(move out at like 5-6) and finish the game already. I didn't think he'll scout seeing this is fs and he's a D level opponent like myself

exactly! mind games although to be fair, I had the bottom third and 5k gas at one point XD I could've made carriers for the next 5-10 mins as long as I dumped everything into them from the two bases (was the plan)

shit, you're right. That slipped my mind back then >.> I shall play another game(in the near future) and mind control then win them with their respective race! How's that for BM?
is there a reason why you didnt place your gateway along the left wall at your natural? it would have left a small gap in the middle only and would co pletely block any runbys on the side.

good question, no reason really. I'm just horrible at walling off in BW. I still can't wall off as Terran and I guess as protoss if we go by this game lol. In general, I usually have units right behind the wall off (where the gap is) so that these runbys don't happen but I forgot to do that this game thanks for commenting
It's always a breath of fresh air to see a BW battlereport. Very Nice.
There used to be a show with Sayle called Chronicles of Kaspra. In one of the episode (2 maybe?) they discussed in great detail PvZ wall ins on Fighting Spirit.

True BM is to max out on drones/SCVs and use them to tank for your 200 scout army
I used to do this to my friends in BGH
let's just say I didn't ever get to play much BGH much again

thanks. I would do them more frequently but I have a habit where I need to show every bit of the action which results in 100+ screenshots that need editing(changing to jpeg and such) then after uploading, I have to come up with the narration and then captions and get the right order etc... lol. Thanks for the link!

hmm that's not a bad idea actually. I remember this one SCII game I played back when it first released against a masters friend of mine. I was silver at that time so his macro was much better than mine. I ended up rolling protoss, he rolled zerg and just mass expanded and went mass drones. When I attacked his third, I was taken back by how many drones he had. Suffice to say, I still won that match lol. I gotta try this sometime now! Well, if all you do is mind control then choo choo your way to victory, I would also be hesitant about playing you

You were caught red handed mister.
And you didn't even get blink....
It's good to read some BW.
DT's and no Dark Shrine? I call hacker
Edit: You didn't build any it seems but my joke was awsome and I'm watching you
hehe ya, I went the bisu build with no dts XD I always seem to neglect part of the protoss tech. Like if I get hts, I never get reavers. I get carriers but forget arbiters etc... It's really odd because it means I'm playing the game with a less than optimal composition against players who are using their full tech. I dunno, I guess it puts me at a disadvantage but I don't really mind. I can still manage to win games with the same combo XD

I feel for you mang. Having written BW blogs myself, I know how much of a work they are to write.

Use MS Paint. Would be a nice imagination exercise.

ya, they sure are. My last blog was > 6 months back as a result. I think this blog has underperformed viewer wise lol. Still, I doubt any blog I write will ever beat the '(Kinda) first BW game' blog XD

I had to open the files in MS paint to do the changing, editing and such so I did use it Having said that, I see your point. Maybe a future BR will focus on telling the story in MS Paint as long as it's a quick 5 min game hmm lol. Thanks for a great idea! :D
