This morning has been a shit show of a nightmare for me. I recently purchased a short term stake in JC Penny last week, a week before it's quarterly financial results (which were released around 9:30am this morning).
I was up at 9:40 because I have had difficulty sleeping longer than 10 (always seem to wake up before 10 no matter when I go to sleep). Anyways, I eat breakfast at 9:50 and I read the news, cool JC penny is up 5% premarket (stock market opens at 10:00am).
About 10:10, I start up starcraft2. I plan on playing ladder for a couple hours, WRONG. There is a patch today. In fact, for such a minuet patch, the whole fricken battlenet is DOWN. Ofcourse, it is a tuesday, I want to play starcraft, and this is not the first time I have been surprised with a pie in my face that blizzard is doing "server maintenance" or whatever bullshit they call it.
SO, it's about 10:20 now, I go to check JCP stock and lo and behold, it is down almost 2%. Taking a moment to recap where I have been left, I am now forced to divert all my attention to watching a stock symbol tick up and down every 10 minutes. I had nothing to do today except to play sc2 before going to work in the afternoon.
Nothing to take my mind off about my seemingly inevitable erosion of my stake in JC Penny. I watched 2 episodes of Modern Family (20 mins an episode), checked the stock symbol 4-5 times within that period. I can't help it. Cal it OCD, ADD, or whatever but there was NOTHING that I could do, short of laddering, that would take my mind off of this shit of a mess.
Waiting out the clock while checking every 10 mins, I saw the symbol tick to even, go up to 1.5%, go back down .8%, go down some more, then go back up again, it was a rollar coaster ride and my stomach just could NOT handle it. SO, as soon as I got the chance at about 11:30am, I sold my stake in JC penny at a 6% gain, with the overall stock going up about 1.6% currently. I said to myself, the anxiety I am feeling right now is not worth the fkin 10$ increase that a couple % would have later in the day.
It is later in the day, about half an hour later at 12pm, and lo and fkin behold, JC penny is up 3.5-4% right now, that is just great. just just great. If I waited 2 hours, about the length of a ladder session, I could have sold it now for about 2% more than I did half an hour ago.
It really makes my blood boil that of course, of fucking course, today would be the day that they would have the server offline, completely blindsiding what I was going to do today. So now with a mushroom imprint of a dick slapped onto my cheek from blizzard, I sit here at my desk in utter astonishment as the rug beneath my feet was pulled out from beneath me and god chuckles to himself after pulling this prank and seeing the look on my face.

Yeah, you could have waited two hours and sold it at a higher price. Or you could have waited two hours and it went down from the initial 6% you sold it at.
Why cry about something you have literally no control over? I sold my BTC for $15 a piece, and a week or two after that they went to $150+ a piece. My GF was flipping out because "we could have waited". But I just laughed because its funny, I had no control over it, and it could have went either way you know?

I was qqing at the fact that I made an impulsive decision based off of my emotions to sell a stock. Playing starcraft would have allowed me to regain some composure by taking my mind off of what was going on and give me a fresh perspective. Instead, I was denied that by blizzard.
I dont like that I made a decision like this so blindly based completely off of my emotional feelings of the stock, that is not how I should be trading or handling my money for that matter

So you got emotional for no good reason, made a seemingly good trade and missed a better one due to the whims of the stock market and then... blamed Blizzard.

I guess in hindsight, I was being too hard on myself. impossible to realize that beforehand though

or you could have gotten sucked into ladder and not realized as your stock plummeted

While I understand your frustration, I don't see how it's Blizzard's fault. Ya, they should've mentioned about the maintenance but you still made the choice to sell the stock now instead of waiting. Since we don't know the future, I think that even though your decision was made in the heat of the moment, it wasn't necessary a bad one.

Blizzard owes you compensation for this. Don't listen to these other people telling you it is your fault. If blizzard delivered like they should have, you would be a much richer man, have a healthier body, and probably a more attractive wife/mistress. I recommend writing a draft letter to blizzard entertainment, documenting in detail what has occurred, hide it, and then mail it in 14 months.

I can't claim any liability against them in court. I'm emotional, not stupid.

They are a good company, far better than eletronic arts
BUT if shit must be said about blizzard, than I will leave it at this : they need to do something to make it easier to repair bunkers that are not full. it is impossible to surround a bunker unelss it is full because the scvs will just go inside the bunker instead of repairng it -.- so many times i want my scvs to surround the bunker and get ready to repair but then they just go inside of it and leave my marines/mauraders to die against all ins

Playing short-short term shares isn't a wise game... You may make money. You WILL lose your mind from stress!
And you'll also chuck a lot of good laddering time in the bin...

And you'll also chuck a lot of good laddering time in the bin... I knew a week in advance that JC penny would increase today. I dared to look at it today after the markets close....6% increase. And I sold it at 1.6%. I knew it would be at least 5% increase, I already told myself ahead of time that was what my target would be today.
Instead, i imploded on myself and made a shit show of what would have otherwise been a sucessful (in my standards) short term gain.
idk, in hindsight, my predictions match exactly what I thought was going to happen yet I didn't trust myself and instead let my emotions get the best of me and sold way too early in the day. The worst part about it is I feel like a complete fucking failure for fucking this up, I just can't shake that off no matter what I think.
I feel like an underlying problem is beating myself up way too hard for things that I really shouldn't be, but I just can't help it. And I don't know where to start to fix this habit of mine

m + left-click
It's slightly more strenuous than right-clicking, I understand.
