Just a suggestion xD I swear I'd play it like 100 hours a week and give you lots and lots of helpful feedback. Haha, hello. I can't be helpful at all about beta information. I know that our community team is aware of the most active SC community sites still in existence, though. Can you tell us anything about Blizzards current plan on changing any of the unit looks / attacks regarding the communities responses and suggestions? (such as the tanks appearance?) Edit: Also I'd like to ask, do you think from pre-alpha - the game release, there will be as many changes as starcraft's pre alpha - release?
We'll definitely take into consideration feedback from the community.
Given that I wasn't involved in the original SC project, I can't really speak towards your second question.

Some of the folks who were involved in the old-school competitive scene will remember me as an active high-level player. I've been on the SC2 project for the past year or so as a designer.
I'm also very interested in acting as a conduit of information from the community to the dev team as the project moves forward...although I make no promises about how actively I'll post here.
Also, no screenshots. Sorry. Do you have any comments on the unlimited unit selection/building selection? Feels good to know there's competent people on the job at least =] (although I never really doubted this) Not old school enough to 'remember' you but obsessed enough about starcraft progaming history to know who you are! EDIT: I actually think I remember trying to play a 2v2 with you and NTT in AoX.. but I was on a shitty computer and I lagged :D Hihi. See, this is part of the fun of sticking your head out. *Everyone* has a question and if you don't field them all someone feels sad! I'm not comfortable providing 'official' answers about game specifics like the one's you've outlined. I can say, however, that we're very aware of the impact which unit / building selection UI has on how an RTS is played, and we carefully weigh any decision we make. Hehe, was just a joke, I assumed it hadn't been answered because of either an oversight or because you can't answer game specifics this early on =]
Just wanted to bump it, thanks for the answer tho.

Omg, I think it can NOT be overstated how elated our community is, to have someone actually working on SC2 to read our forums... We have a renewed passion to do whatever we can to help make the game as legendary as it deserves to be...
That said, I'm sure you're going to get a flood of information, useful or not, from this site... Do you think that it would be better if we did weekly polls on important issues with the game on this site, so we can together send a unified opinion on a subject to you guys at Blizzard? Would you be more willing to share the information with the team if that were to happen? Thank you!

I'm not Zileas, I'm Pillars. Two different people.
Glad to hear that Zileas helped you out though =]. He maintained a really comprehensive and well-written strategy site back in the day.

I feel kinda guilty about asking a question... but im really interested int he answer;
Considering the fact you were rather good at sc, and made a name for yourself (so it seems ) im wondering how does the alpha play feel? Is it fluid and natural? Similar to sc?

Zileas! The man with no name Reaver Cooldown!
:D
My opinions echo most other TL.netters.
One thing though:
Do you have a general idea when Zerg and Terran units will be demonstrated? or is it still hush-hush?

Just a little tip for you guys...
Blizzard runs a very tight ship on PR. Every last scrap of information is carefully leveraged by PR between the various media outlets and Blizzard's own websites. In other words, employees on here won't really be able to tell you anything that isn't already public.
That much said there's plenty of guys at that company who do read this (and other) fansites, and there's always a lot of great things to be learned by browsing the threads that I'm sure they're considering when making design trade-offs.

Pillar,
I have an extremely high respect for the Blizzard development team...Blizzard is brilliant when it comes to PR and building hype. Blizzard is unlike any other gaming company I have encountered...they care about the fanbase and (apparently!!!) read and care about what the fans are saying. This really sets them apart from other big time developers such as EA (vomits in mouth) which are primarily concerned about profit over quality.
There are extremely high expectations for Starcraft 2...and many people are already frustrated and jumping to conclusions from what they have seen. However, I would like to say that I know (and many other people here know) that the developers such as yourself at Blizzard understand the intricacies of what made Starcraft a great game and I know that you are committed to creating an awesome game. Blizzard has yet to release a bad game, and I doubt that they will if they continue this standard of quality that many of your fans have observed.
Just a friendly little message saying "THANKS!!!!" for Starcraft 2 and "THANKS!!!!" for caring about the fans who actually are going to play the game!

Thanks a lot for your input Pillar, it's glad to see you active in the community. I suggest we all stop asking so many questions as I'm sure he's overwhelmed with work recently and we don't want to scare him away .

Hello.
-Chris Can you encourage your team to improve Blizzard publicity? Also, how much time have you guys spent watching Korean sc matches? As for the rude remarks to your post, it's hard to confirm that you're actually a Blizzard employee rather than a troll. I'm sure none of them would have responded that way had we known for sure. Yeah, I remember this complaint about Blizzard from when I used to be actively part of the community. Public relations and publicity stuff is always tough since anything that Blizzard publicly states will be scrutinized to the nth degree. They have to be very sure about any information they do provide. What sorts of things in particular are you hoping to get from our PR people? Understood about the rude remarks, hah. I just forgot how forums work, how people can't be taken at their word due to the anonymous nature of the internet, etc, etc. ;P.
Sorry, I forgot to congratulate you on the great job at WWI. I'm deeply impressed with the showing, and I thought it was much better than last year's performance. I expressed my concerns in another thread, but it basically included increasing hype with Blizzard through possible commercials or advertisements online (sort of like television commercials, but anything that will reach out to a tremendous fan base, not necessarily just the gaming community). The Blizzard announcement for sc2 was huge, and yet very few of my gaming friends even knew about it. I think that's something that shouldn't be an issue (people are much more familiar that Halo 3 is coming out, for instance). I feel that increasing PR in that respects would not only expand your fanbase tremendously, but would make the game more exciting (larger audience) and raise you guys some nice moola.
In addition, I was wondering how much time Blizzard put in to watching Korean starcraft games. Most people here at TL have watched hours and hours of games on end, so we have a really good feel for the game in general and what needs to be fixed. Listening to some of the executive people talk during WWI made it seem as though they hadn't put enough time into seeing how the game plays out today. However, I am probably completely wrong about this. Another slightly related topic is the hype involved at events like WWI. As you probably know, Korean shoutcasters and announcers are incredibly enthusiastic about the game, and you can easily tell while watching, even if you can't understand a thing they're saying. I just didn't as excited about the game as the speaker talked during the gameplay footage at WWI.

first post, signed up just to say something!
Pillar,
Why does the tank look like a toy? It's suppose to be metal!
And that menu up in the left corner seems annoying, it wasnt there in the first game and seems to be better fit to put down in the Menu area of the screen, (over the map?) Or atleast there should be a way to maybe disable it.
Also, the terran buildings look very toy-like, with the extremely exagerated shapes. I dont want to play with toys when i play terran!

Point taken about PR.
So then, just one suggestion.
Zealots need to be MANLIER. MANLIER SOUNDS. MANLIER ATTACK ANIMATIONS. MANLIER DEATH SCENE. MANLIER LOOKS.
I suggest you consult Park Jung-Suk of the KTF MagicN's for more specifics.
