There is nothing that makes a shiney attackt hat covers up the screen, and does nearly 0 damage.
I just want to give the advice of keepiing that clearity when making SC2 since that would most likely keep it being a spectator sport. I think thats a large reason why other RTS games haven't made it thus far, they just aren't clear enough to understand without playing the game fully.
Totally agree. This is something we're keeping a very careful eye on. Battles were very clear in Starcraft, even as army sizes ramped up to 200/200. One of my biggest pet peeves about War3 was the amount of visual spam which all of the spells and buffs created. It became a 'skill' to discern what was actually happening on the battlefield behind all of the buffs / de-buffs / heals / AoE spells, etc. This is something we're trying to avoid with SC2.

omg, I was amazed because all of this people not remembering you and then I realized that I joined this site a couple of days after it was made. I'm damn oldschool.
I offer you a trade Pillars, I'll give you your replays from the old days and you get me to the beta :D (dumb offer but I had to try)
Please, don't let them make us wait too long, if you feel they slow down, kick some asses

pls change the tankdesign

Pillars, happen to have any knowledge of if any progamers/practice partners will be involved in testing out the balance of the game? I suppose that they're the best ones to ask, as they spend a lot of time playing the game competitively, that they could help and fix whichever imbalances there are. Also, it's great to see Blizzard interacting with the community. Job well done

I actually stopped playing competitively before replays existed, so anything you might have probably isn't legitimate.

Unknown. I'd personally like to see that, though.

Pillars will there be alot of effort on players army formation? In starcraft it's just such an extremely important skill, i hope you really put effort into making it as good in starcraft 2, with the new units especially.

gogo BW showmatch pillars vs <pillars choice of tl.net opponent>, fakesteve commentary
Really nice to hear those comments about sc2 vs wc3 and the visual spam a.s.o., keep up the good work!

We love you Pillars ! ! !
We LOVE YOU BLIZZARD ! ! ! !

Wow :O Pillars as an SC2 designer? Quite nice - back in the days when I was just learning my BW, I used to read battlereports of his games :>
Pillars, can you reveal whether there are any other old-school StarCraft players in the SC2 design team? I believe I once recalled Zileas working for Blizzard...
|
lol i saw baaaack in the day a picture of Grrrr... and {PH}Pillars in some pro gaming clothes. Looked pretty neat back then lol. These glittering costumes ; D
I thin we guys have to accept, that things just HAVE TO change. But i hope that some things and the most important things are kept the same in the game. Like not being able to select all units u control. Not too much and too fancy effects, a good size of the maps. Ect.. but what are im even talking.. : D
One thing id like to say : The zealots are looking amazing and it looks soooo cule when they speed up .. = ]

I know that Zileas left to go work on his Master's or PhD a couple years ago. I imagine he is still working on those and probably has gone onto bigger things.
Pillars, you are living a dream job it seems Keep up the good work... the game looks awesome. Please do your best to ensure battle.net remains free! It's one of the reasons it's so popular for sure...
edit:
I remember playing you a few times in War3 beta and such... I remember you having a blue dragon (250 random wins) icon! That may have been retail at that point, though

Pillars: Nice to meet you. I am an old SC player, retired at this moment because of my Master's thesis which now is done. Months ago I wrote an article about the gathering (economy) system in SC. Since SC2 seems to have a similar economy system or at least one with the same emphasis, maybe this could give the team some good ideas.

I want SC2 to be as good as SC. Good luck.

Hello pillars I'd like to use my 1000th post to thank you along with the rest of Blizzard employees who are making this sequel possible. I'm also glad to see that you are active within our community, and that you can be the medium between our community and Blizzard, i think this will greatly benefit Starcraft 2. So far i have no complaints on starcraft 2 from what i have seen besides the tank design (something im sure will evolve and the game is improved upon). I do however have a question for you that i think others may have as well:
Will Blizzard take measures to make hacking alot harder or even impossible to do in SC2? What sort of measures are being taken? Would blizzard be interested in working alongside some of the community's own 3rd party anti hack program creators to develop a reasonable solution to this growing nuisance?
Thank you Pillars, and i hope you will be able to answer my question or provide some insight on this issue. ^^

wow pillars I remember you. Didn't know you work for Blizz now
No sweat y'all.. the project is only in pre alpha isn't it, and since we have great Blizz employees including Pillars working on it I'm sure it'll come out quite nice ^_^

This brings back good memories. Back when I was 14 me and my friends would talk about how good Pillars and Tillerman were at SC. I remember playing some games with Spirou too, he was a pretty well known korean player who had an impressive record on Europe.

Who are the pro-gamers helping to balance the game?
