One of my biggest pet peeves about War3 was the amount of visual spam which all of the spells and buffs created. It became a 'skill' to discern what was actually happening on the battlefield behind all of the buffs / de-buffs / heals / AoE spells, etc. This is something we're trying to avoid with SC2. Pillars! ! ! When I saw your nick I had to crawl out of the woodwork to say hello. Very glad to see you working at Blizzard helping make this game competitive and right. It's looking promising, but naturally there's a fair bit of trepidation of the sequel living up to the original. But if anybody can do it, it is Blizzard! -Blacklizard

I forget where I first read about you, but it was a while back (I thought you were a Korean progamer at the time :O)

It's certainly great to know that both progamers and SC legends like Pillars are involved in SC2. If anyone can help Blizzard recreate the magic of SC in its sequel, it'll be these people. The future of SC2 just got a lot brighter ![]() P.S. VERY relieved to know that Blizzard is aware of the "problem" WC3 had with all the effects, animations, etc. that made it hard for players to discern what was going on. This is a concern that I and many people I know have for SC2 with the switch to 3D graphics of such detail.

These glittering costumes ; D I thin we guys have to accept, that things just HAVE TO change. But i hope that some things and the most important things are kept the same in the game. Like not being able to select all units u control. Not too much and too fancy effects, a good size of the maps. Ect.. but what are im even talking.. : D One thing id like to say : The zealots are looking amazing and it looks soooo cule when they speed up .. = ] anyone have a pic of pillars? =]

I mean you'd have to be pretty young to not remember him from WC3. But I remember him from SC and so do a lot of old schoolers.

Played War2 in the day and beta for starcraft, etc. A few months back I got the urge to play starcraft again and started watching all the Korean pro VODs and have been loving it. Might be brushing off the rust just in time for Starcraft 2! -Blacklizard

Not that I wouldn't believe that Blizzard employees read this but I'm surprised that one of them should suddenly answer all the questions here. Blizzard employees never talked that much, not even in special Fansite-Events.

I for one won't believe that until either nvnplatypus or someone oldschool from PH or maybe IN confirms his identity. Anyone could have known all the stuff he posted so far. Not that I wouldn't believe that Blizzard employees read this but I'm surprised that one of them should suddenly answer all the questions here. Blizzard employees never talked that much, not even in special Fansite-Events. The account was created back in October of 2004, and the first post was made in regards to AoX. This suggests to me that this account wasn't created just so someone could impersonate Pillars and make false representations about SC2. It also seems that some of the other old school gamers seem to have acknowledged him as the real Pillars on these forums, for whatever reason, and they seem to all be familiar with the same history and shared experiences. There appears to be more reason to believe that it is the real Pillars than there is to doubt it's him.

I'm also glad to see that you are active within our community, and that you can be the medium between our community and Blizzard, i think this will greatly benefit Starcraft 2. So far i have no complaints on starcraft 2 from what i have seen besides the tank design (something im sure will evolve and the game is improved upon). I do however have a question for you that i think others may have as well: Will Blizzard take measures to make hacking alot harder or even impossible to do in SC2? What sort of measures are being taken? Would blizzard be interested in working alongside some of the community's own 3rd party anti hack program creators to develop a reasonable solution to this growing nuisance? Thank you Pillars, and i hope you will be able to answer my question or provide some insight on this issue. ^^ I don't know the details of Blizzard's approach to hacking / cheating in SC2, but I do know that it's considered an important issue. Competition only has meaning if the integrity of the game is intact. I'm sure as the project continue we'll distribute more specific information about this topic.
