So I had a look at the comments to see how many ppl correctly guessed and I noticed this. http://sclegacy.com/showthread.php?t=2803 If you scroll down to (OS)OmegoSquadro's comment, youll not that he says something very related to SC2 9 days before the annoucement. Anyone think he might be a blizz employee? EDIT: Acutally after reading it again, it looks like its probably just co-incidence I know of at least 3 Blizzard employees that frequent SC:L - so it's possible - but as you've already noticed, many employees have infiltrated the community. :D ~LoA

![]() There are only two BW games i remember playing that are over 2 years old. You raping me in early SC days, and then Assem raping in early BW days. I lose a lot, but those losses are on whole different planet than anything else heh. I havent seen the videos yet. (my connection is far far too slow for that right now) But i'd like to comment on what I would want in SC2 anyway. 1. Infinte skill levels. This is why BW still is not boring to me. And probably why thats so for a lot of other people aswell. You can always get better and better, there is no glass celing. So little to no features that make the game easier to play please. Like smart macro from multiple buildings like WC3 for example. The learning curve for SC2 shouldnt be curved if that makes sense. Seemingly small details like how many units can you select at one time are not small at all. Not everyone should be able to control 120 zerglings as effortlessly as Yellow seems to be able to do. Highly doubt the unforgiving nature of SC was by design in the first SC but this is definately what makes such a gem. Well, i wont comment on any other gameplay related stuff until i least the videos but other things that would be nice is AMM - Automated/Anonymous match maker Anonymous Automated Tourneys It would be really nice to be able to type say //join tourney 16 bo3 NLB And it would automatically setup a 16 man tourney in best-of-3 format, no losers bracket. And it would find players that also want to play such a tourney and automaically start the first and subsequent rounds. And the ablility to to use that command to join a specific tournament for those private tourneys. Also, a Tournament Leader Board (ala Poker Stars style) would be pretty cool too. So, yah, great B.net support!

Employees from Blizzard have assured me that there is a strong support for StarCraft within the company. Pillars, I have heard of your name before, mentioned among Blizzard employees who have ties to the community. I'd like to say thank you. We appreciate your support. ^_^ TheOvermind77: For the record, I'd like to state that Ubisoft employees also pay attention to the needs of their community via forums. Interacting and getting community opinions is part of their job =P. I am glad that Blizzard recognizes the StarCraft fansites such as Teamliquid though and takes time to pay attention to them =D.

Dunno if it was vanilla or broodwar, but it was before replays, don't remember if you were playing or commenting.. I have lost that piece of sc history in my numerous reinstall.... Ahhhh good times. Does my memory plays trick on me and if not, do you still have that vod?

My primary 2v2 partner was {PH}PEPE!, though I would sometimes play with other {PH} guys, Jester and Expo among them. Thanks for the R-E-S-P-E-C-T. -_~

I'm deeply impressed with the showing, and I thought it was much better than last year's performance. I expressed my concerns in another thread, but it basically included increasing hype with Blizzard through possible commercials or advertisements online (sort of like television commercials, but anything that will reach out to a tremendous fan base, not necessarily just the gaming community). The Blizzard announcement for sc2 was huge, and yet very few of my gaming friends even knew about it. I think that's something that shouldn't be an issue (people are much more familiar that Halo 3 is coming out, for instance). I feel that increasing PR in that respects would not only expand your fanbase tremendously, but would make the game more exciting (larger audience) and raise you guys some nice moola. In addition, I was wondering how much time Blizzard put in to watching Korean starcraft games. Most people here at TL have watched hours and hours of games on end, so we have a really good feel for the game in general and what needs to be fixed. Listening to some of the executive people talk during WWI made it seem as though they hadn't put enough time into seeing how the game plays out today. However, I am probably completely wrong about this. Another slightly related topic is the hype involved at events like WWI. As you probably know, Korean shoutcasters and announcers are incredibly enthusiastic about the game, and you can easily tell while watching, even if you can't understand a thing they're saying. I just didn't as excited about the game as the speaker talked during the gameplay footage at WWI. I have faith in our PR guys to invest intelligently in terms of advertising. I'm just not well versed enough in that whole area to provide any educated assessment, or determine what the proper course of action should be. I do know that there have been almost no PC titles in the history of PC gaming which have had television ads. That's mostly been reserved for console titles, at least in the US. In terms of watching televised tournaments: A number of individuals on the team have certainly watched some matches. To be honest, though, it's only *really* important for the individuals actually balancing the game to be *that* tuned into the current metagame. Executives are always going to speak in broad terms about the products they release. You also have to keep in mind that the player base of the original Starcraft is very varied. While it's obvious that pro gamers are at the pinnacle of that community, they only make up a fraction of the overall player pool. In fact, there are millions of individuals who purchased the original Starcraft and never even logged into Battle.net! In terms of Korean commentators, those guys are hired in part because they do such an excellent job at conveying their enthusiasm. Game designers are hired for very different reasons, and shouldn't be judged based upon their public speaking skills. =].

I just want to give the advice of keepiing that clearity when making SC2 since that would most likely keep it being a spectator sport. I think thats a large reason why other RTS games haven't made it thus far, they just aren't clear enough to understand without playing the game fully.
