Some of the folks who were involved in the old-school competitive scene will remember me as an active high-level player. I've been on the SC2 project for the past year or so as a designer.
I'm also very interested in acting as a conduit of information from the community to the dev team as the project moves forward...although I make no promises about how actively I'll post here.
Also, no screenshots. Sorry. :< try take my post lightly (no seriousness intended except the screenshots)
Kakaka yeah I was mostly kidding about the tidal wave. =].

I played some 2on2s against you on #111 Starcraft channel at Kali back in 99 or 2000, for the old Case's Ladder
Oooo Case's Ladder. Yeah. The Kali community was a good one, I wish I had found it earlier in my career actually. I played almost exclusively on b.net for my first two years.
Kali had a really strong contingent of War2 greats though, many of whom became top Starcraft players during the first few years of the game's release.

Thanks Fanta. I'll do what I can in terms of posting here.
AoX was definitely fun for a few months. The gameplay was very reminiscent of SC, actually, more so than any other RTS I've seen [until now] ;P.

you guys planning to have contests that give out closed betas like a huge starcraft tournament/league or something? possibly using WGT ladder already implemented since 1.15? hopefully big enough to give out tons of keys like Blizz did for Burning Crusade beta?
if not, and the chance ever arises then we'd be very happy if you could mention something like this to them

Actually, I am still continually amazed at Blizzard's almost 180 turn from War3 to this new SC2 concept... their philosophy and approach to this new game is all spot on. All of it, from the face-paced gameplay to the professional-level friendly goals, shows this WILL be a true sequel, not War3 in space. That is why I knew they must have some of our own in the development team.
I just want to let you know I'm deeply impressed.

Oh, and can you add me to the beta, please?
Thanks in advance ;D

Hi, I've never heard of you before this week, but awesome to have you here
I'm glad you're getting in touch with the fanbase (or at least a portion of the Korean-scene-following-international fanbase)
Anyway, for Starcraft II Beta, maybe you could give priority to certain communities/forums, such as TeamLiquid? Just a suggestion xD
I swear I'd play it like 100 hours a week and give you lots and lots of helpful feedback.

No idea. I'll mention the idea to our PR guys, though.

Haha, hello.
I can't be helpful at all about beta information. I know that our community team is aware of the most active SC community sites still in existence, though.

Omg I feel so ignored :D Is it because I asked about game details? If you can't answer questions like this, sorry, just really curious about the official answer to this one so had to ask =]
I'll try one more time!

Not old school enough to 'remember' you but obsessed enough about starcraft progaming history to know who you are!
EDIT: I actually think I remember trying to play a 2v2 with you and NTT in AoX.. but I was on a shitty computer and I lagged :D

Can you tell us anything about Blizzards current plan on changing any of the unit looks / attacks regarding the communities responses and suggestions? (such as the tanks appearance?)
Edit: Also I'd like to ask, do you think from pre-alpha - the game release, there will be as many changes as starcraft's pre alpha - release?

Interesting that you have kept a 5post account since 2004 and remembered that you had it and started to using it again. Not knowing during what time period those other post were spread out. I remember reading battle reports and such of you.
Who was that guy that used to work for blizzard? I think there were one, hmm.

Hihi.
See, this is part of the fun of sticking your head out. *Everyone* has a question and if you don't field them all someone feels sad!
I'm not comfortable providing 'official' answers about game specifics like the one's you've outlined. I can say, however, that we're very aware of the impact which unit / building selection UI has on how an RTS is played, and we carefully weigh any decision we make.

Sigs or diff. Chris?
<-- Theo here , hope all is well and congrats on the launch!
|
Yep, Zileas. He made a name for himself in the early, early days of competitive Starcraft with a very micro-oriented approach to Protoss. He worked on Frozen Throne, yes.
|
Awesome to know that there are Blizzard people actively reading and even participating in this case, in the communities around

Thanks for the congrats =].
