Aphrodite is actually quite good. Can at least take ladder games off some really good players once in awhile. Even if they are just ladder games.
Ya, saw her win a crazy micro game against Vines once. I'm sure she wins other players regularly, we just don't know about it. Regardless, I have never been so stoked for a GSTL event. For over a year now, I've been really wanting to see them play. Pretty awesome they are getting their chance finally, and what better than a face-off? w00t ^__^
well, now that i have found out she wins ladder games....against Vines of all people....i will ignore the fact that they both have done nothing of note in their entire sc2 careers. its a joke, pr stunt.
Well someone is taking GSTL preseason pretty seriously...
not really. i'll watch and enjoy (hopefully). but im just calling it like it is and am amazed at people who actually think this is serious.
People are just excited about it, why rain on their parade from your ivory tower?
i stated my opinion, and people chose to respond with bullshit ("oh, they are really good, its not a pr stunt"). i decided to call out their bullshit. i, for one, am excited to see aphrodite play on the big stage, but it still is what it is: a pr stunt to showcase the females. people can say i am negative all they want, but i choose to be honest about it.
There was a movie with a rabbit and a deer has something about saying something nice or not talking, but I can't remember exactly...I think it applies. Does it really matter if the players are top teir and can qualify for code S? As long as the game is fun and people enjoy it, it does not matter.
unless you are disagreeing with my point that the only reason they are in the booths is because they are female, dont bother to respond. you seem to want to argue a point im not even making.
Would have have the same issue if it was Scarlett vs one of them? I do agree it is a PR stunt, but then again it is just pre-season.
I understand where some people are coming from, but all I see is teams giving them a chance to play in a tournament that they don't really get a chance to play in. I think it's a great opportunity for both players. Really looking forward to it.

sounds to me like his (must be) ideal match is between two computers who are programmed to play the perfect match against each other. Because clearly you only want to see the best possible games and certainly a computer could outperform a person

Ah yes, because I forgot that women compete in competitive sports just so you can masturbate over them.
Give me a break. Aphrodite and Eve are arguably two of the best female pro gamers in the world. It'll be good to see how well they do on live GSL.

Sure it's a PR stunt to at least a moderate degree, but what does it matter? I, for one, am excited to see them play each other in the booth. Everybody wins.

Actually I guess I missed making my point more-so than who is in the booth this is the pre-season. In most every pre-season and even during old BW team leagues, some lower level pros were put out in matches to test how they would fair when the pressure was on. This is the time to test your supposedly less talented players and let them make a name for themselves. If you don't do it now, then there isn't a reason to have them on your team.

yep, they even do it during the regular season of gstl. i have no problem with that.
Unless eve is secretly really good and none of us really knew I'm quite sure Aphrodite is going to destroy this series >.< Hopefully Eve surprises us though; I love underdog story lines. :D I'm still rooting for aphrodite tho >.>

Have other girls done anything of note in their sc2 careers? Are there other girl pros who have won tournaments and made headway in the scene besides 'Scarlett'? Hmm so this is kind of a first isn't it? You should be encouraging it not demoralizing pro females in Starcraft. This community doesn't need naysayers like you guys. Since these two teams are the only teams with high level girl players...Its sort of fitting that they can open with each of them. Adds hype and it's pretty badass for me and other girls part of the GOSC.
P.S. Either of these girls would stomp any of you 1v1
This is blatantly just a PR move by GomTV and the teams to try to get people to watch GSTL more. Honestly having this kick off the match feels more like mud wrestling then professional gaming.
Not a knock against women in gaming, just that they clearly didn't earn the right to be showcased in this way by beating anyone. I can't imagine a world in which either team would consciously make this decision thinking, 'this is our best chance to win'. If anything a match like this feels counter productive to women in gaming, as they are being used as more of a novelty then serious competitors.
