I think you sacrifice a bit of truth in favour of a better effect. I think it is true that a more attractive person can say the same thigns as a less attractive person and have them embraced in a much better way. I think the main difference between flirty and creepy, however, is the flirty person has playfulness and a good sense of what amount of contact is too close. Honest versus rude, i would say it is simpler than charisma. A rude person does not take into account what the person he's talking to might feel like or what he might be insecure about. If you are adequately thoughtful you can tell someone the truth. I will call it tact mixed with sympathy. social and loud... yeah.. it also depends on the situation. Someone who knows the mood of the group. Anyways... cool stuff.

No one knows why he did this, even the day after he got caught and put in handcuffs he came back the next day so the manager could talk to him and he tried to steal another 100$. No one has any idea why he would even do this, he did use drugs but he never came into work smelling like weed or completely doped out of his mind. I think a lot of people at my work already sort of just labeled him as a big pothead or something. But i think of him as a young man who's life will be defined because of a few youthful mistakes.

It's something I've been thinking about for a while, but it's not exactly cynical. It's just self-critical. For the last few years I've been the type of person who is worse off than many other people(worse hygiene, weaker, uglier, worse clothes, etc.) and yet still manages to look down upon other people. For the last year it's been something I've thought about a lot. Some of the posts that StateOfReverie made in his blog yesterday provided a nuclei for it to crystallize around. Someone who knows the mood of the group. Anyways... cool stuff. I really like both of these responses. Pangpootata makes some pretty good improvements, and meteor you make some good points, too. Particularly about honest vs. rude contrast. One thing that really stood out to me throughout the years was the ability of some people to really dance around dangerous points and still come not only getting the point across but making the other person feel all right about the point. It's a skill that many of us here(us being, for the most part, gamers lacking in social experience) are particularly poor at. I think a lot of people at my work already sort of just labeled him as a big pothead or something. But i think of him as a young man who's life will be defined because of a few youthful mistakes. There are always people like that. I had one friend in elementary school who was killing it. I think he was the only kid to ever get 100% in a course in that elementary school(second best ever being 95%) and generally pulling in 85-95s. We drifted apart through the years. When I met up with him again in high school he had turned into a pothead, been kicked out of his house for it and was homeless, sleeping on friends couches. He got a job where I worked(a grocery store/super market) and missed 5 of the first 6 shifts. The same thing happened with every job he tried to get, so he couldn't earn any money and has a horrible track record. He managed to scrape into University by the slimmest of margins into the weakest faculty of the weakest academic University in Ontario(and maybe Canada, at that rate) purely off of his natural skills and the momentum of elementary school. And you can only wonder what on Earth happened to him.
