On the other hand, why would mapmakers do anything for leagues. Leagues certainly don't do anything for mapmakers (still use the same map pool as 1 year ago).

Edit: But then again, there are several Maps with ads on their loading screens already.

Agree w/ RF, although if they really wanted their logo(s) on there, they could get someone to edit their versions of the standard maps. But they probably don't even have anyone that can do that (even though it's incredibly easy) which is really sad. Mapmaking is so undervalued by the tournaments.

I am planning out season 2 and want to add 3 maps cause the map pool is getting stagnant. I really liked what dota 2 has done with adding the team logo or league logo in it at least. If you don't feel comfortable choosing from the many available worthy community maps, you could easily put together a committee of qualified mappers/critics who could translate your goals into 3 good maps by hearing your wants and sorting through the options.

If a map was to become popular while having ingame ads in it, Blizzard would probably take action against you. Edit: But then again, there are several Maps with ads on their loading screens already. Blizzard owns every map you upload, according to the EULA, so we should feel free to do whatever we want until they themselves do something about it (they being the supposed owners). According to the logic of the EULA creators are completely divorced from the creation, so how can they be responsible for it? + Show Spoiler [Btw this is absurd] +

2. Additional License Limitations. The license granted to you in Section 1 above is subject to the limitations set forth in Sections 1 and 2 (collectively, the “License Limitations”). Any use of the Game in violation of the License Limitations will be regarded as an infringement of Blizzard’s copyrights in and to the Game. You agree that you will not, under any circumstances: ... C. Exploit the Game or any of its parts for any commercial purpose without Blizzard’s express permission, with the sole exception that you may use the Game, or copies of the Game, on the Service at a cyber cafe, computer gaming center or any other location based site; Pretty much means no advertising. In fact, in the german version of the EULA, it explicitly says so 2. (b) um Werbeanzeigen oder sonstige Werbung zu verbreiten oder zu ermöglichen; Rough translation of the last part: " (b) to display ads or any other advertising"

What I meant was, as usual with EULAs, the internal logic is contradictory. And the EULA has little to do with legality. If no one but Blizzard has rights to a map, how can it be infringing Blizzard's rights? =\

Even if they enforced it, it's not like you're taking a risk doing it. They would just be like "take the logo off" and you would have to take it off, it wouldn't be like you'd get in actual legal trouble.

It's entirely possible, and not particularly hard to do so either.

Am I the only one who feels that the decals on buildings not being commercial for a team or their sponsor is a missed opportunity?
