If it had been genuinely real Hyungjun would have stayed at the team house and practiced really hard. I bet he played only when the camera was rolling and maybe like ~5 games per day on his free time if even that, him being an idol and all that and this just being a show. If I don't remember horribly wrong it was also pretty awkward sometimes when he was around with other teams because he was just so out of place and not really one of "them" because it was just for show anyway. If the show was about some marketable amateur player (aspiring progamer) who got the chance to be an in-house practice partner for the same amount of time and with Shark as his personal coach it would have been fucking awesome to see some "real" Starcraft and this guys improvement from being in the MBCGame house and really putting the opportunity up to use.

I mean it's obvious that tons of it is staged but just because it's reality tv doesn't mean people can't become friends or the idol could have a legitimate interest in the game (obviously not going to be a progamer). Plenty of korean male idols play games and starcraft specifically--some public about it, some probably hide it as it may give a nerd image; they are just 16-24 year old guys after all. But Hyungjun essentially faked all of it (interests in the game, friendliness with progamers, etc) for the show, which could be told just watching the show in the first place.
