My name is BigFan and I'm a Terran player. Wait wait, put down your pitchforks, let me finish first I have played other rts games in the past such as RA, BW and FT but never competitively. It was always with friends/complete strangers against the AI on maps such as fastest map possible and BGH. It was a blast going mass dark archons and mind control like 20 carriers from the AI or mass bcs, hydras, 20-30 hatcheries per base, etc....
My only recollection of 1vs1 in BW is a faint image in a TvsT match where I lined up my forces of marines/firebats at the only entrance to my base and my opponent went cloaked wraiths. Having no clue what they were, all I can think of at the time was "something is in my mineral field sniping my SCVs" XD It's only until later did I find out about the wraith, but, I don't think I was playing 1vs1 at that point. Eventually, I got busy with studies and had to stop playing BW as a result but all the games I've played were awesome.
With SCII's release, I started to wonder about what race to pick considering that I would ladder this time around. All the three races intrigued me. From the amazing marine and tanks to wrapping units, sentries and phoenixes to slings, roaches and mutas. All had potential and a lot of micro from the looks of it. Considering that Zerg was considered UP at the time and I loved the idea of swarming your opponent, I start playing the race and kept on getting crushed due to lack of understanding of macro but I caught on eventually. I started becoming more comfortable with the race and winning more games as Season 1 was drawing to a close.
Towards the end of Season 1, I decided that as much as I loved Zerg, I was also missing out on using T/P units so I switched to random. As Season 2 began, I started laddering heavily and went on a 10 game win streak harassing in a lot of my games and double dropping my opponents in others. Suffice to say, at Silver level that was more than enough to help me win my games and I was promoted to Gold after a ZvsP on Plateau where I barely managed to hold my opponent's push and countered with a slings/roach/muta force that caused him to gg.
With Season 3 upon us, I decided to switch to Terran. I wanted to play more micro intensive games and wanted a lot more of my favourite MU, TvsZ. I've been having a blast playing T and have even base traded with a T in a recent game, something that I thought wouldn't happen. I still haven't even incorporated BFH/ghosts/banshees into my game so kinda excited to see how that goes. All in all, can't wait to see how the metagame changes once all the units for each race are used
