Go read these great articles on the Winners League Finals:
CJ vs Hwaseung WL Finals Pre-Match Interviews by Smix
[WL] Finals HYPE!! by Fzero
Set 1:
EffOrt vs
Jaedong on Neo Harmony
This isn't the first time these two have collided, and when they met for the first time it was about as highly anticipated as any ZvZ game can be. Nevertheless Jaedong went on to maul EffOrt on Medusa, reasserting his dominance of the matchup and silencing his doubters yet again. Don't expect for this encounter to be any different, but stay wary - EffOrt has the ability to do the unexpected. In the end this is a matchup that JD will have spent all week practicing for in the OSL anyways, so I have no reason to think he won't perform here.
Prediction:
EffOrt <
Jaedong
Set 2 on Sin Chupung-Ryeong
Here is where things get interesting. CJ has made Chupung-Ryeong their own personal playground in Proleague play, going an impeccable 12-3 on the map, thanks largely to Iris' dominant play (5-0) on the traditional Terran haven. Iris is definitely the safe bet on this map in my opinion, as he's shown the best play, and the next few maps are in his favor if he wins (Andromeda wouldn't be, but luckly OZ has no good Protoss or Zerg to take him out). Can Iris tackle Jaedong though? I have a feeling he's got what it takes, despite a loss last month to the Destroyer.
Prediction:
Iris >
Jaedong
Set 3 on Andromeda
Andromeda is going to be a real crapshoot if you want to guess who you will see if A) Jaedong is coming off a 2-kill, or B) Iris beats Jaedong. The only player on CJ that has had real success on the map has been EffOrt, and he won't be an option if JD is still around. Basically, if Jaedong wins the first two games, I'd bet the house that he at least gets a 3-Kill as well, as I can't see a viable option for CJ on this map. But lets turn the tables here, seeing as I've already got Iris usurping Mr. All-Kill. OZ will try a Protoss, be it BackHo or Young. I'm hoping it's BackHo, partly because I like him more, and partly because Young got demolished by Iris last time they met. Anyways, whoever they send, Iris has this.
Prediction:
Iris >
BackHo
Set 4 on Rush Hour 3
Rush Hour is a no-brainer map for whichever team will have to pick a player - just make it a Terran. For CJ, if they need a stopper here, it will likely be sKyHigh. If OZ finds themselves down 1-2, I'd look for Dongrae. Hey, he's not much, but him and Lomo are all they got if it comes to this point. (pick your poison)
Prediction:
Iris >
Dongrae
Set 5 on Colosseum II
So, Iris has his traditional CJ 3-Kill, and we all know what is coming next from Hwaseung - HiyA. I'm not going to offer any logic or reason behind this prediction other than the superstition I have that CJ players don't all-kill. It just doesn't happen. Oh, here's some logic: HiyA is damn good.
Prediction:
Iris <
HiyA
Set 6 on Medusa
Welcome to Medusa, the map where Protoss have mutilated Terrans for ages. But wait, HiyA mutilates 'toss players regardless of the map, as evidenced by his win against Stork here earlier in the month. So instead of Movie, look for sAviOr to take the stage on Medusa, and hell, if Shine[kaL] can beat HiyA on Medusa, so can the Maestro.
Prediction:
sAviOr >
HiyA
CJ Wins 4-2, again!
