Hey guys,
my name is Terry and I translate sometimes.
I'm really excited for Proleague and I was waiting for the matches to start,
then I saw this post from Byung-Hun, Jun, the head of KeSPA (I don't know how else to call it lol)
(source:http://pgr21.com/pb/pb.php?id=free2&no=53117)
I'm on break, I have nothing to do, so I decided to roughly translate this for you guys.
He talks about how important for this season to be successful for KeSPA as well as some other things.
I'm sorry for the blatant grammatical errors that I made on the translation.
Anyway, here is the original,
+ Show Spoiler +

Here's the translation:
+ Show Spoiler +

Hello PGR21 readers,
I am Byung-Hun, Jun, the chairman of KeSPA.

I apologize for the late introductions.
I know the weight of importance in writing in PGR21,
so I am using the KeSPA ID to say hi.

During the last season of Proleague finals, KeSPA has invested a lot of time and money, and we were impressed by how many people showed up to the finals.
But after the disbandment of the winnning team as well as the runner up, the remaining Starcraft II teams had to go under a lot of restructuring.

We had to go through a lot to make the 2014 Proleague happen.

KeSPA had to reopen a lot of our old connections, and we were in constant communications with the remaining teams.
I requested Nexon and SPOTV to invest, and thankfully, 'Nexon Arena' and 'SPOTV Games' was born.
We constantly tried to think of the ways to involve as many players and teams to Proleague as much as possible.
Broadcast times and Proleague structure was decided after very careful considerations.
(We will try to address any tournament issues after each rounds.)

KeSPA invests the most into Proleague each year.
(That is also why KeSPA is not doing so well financially)
Since there are a lot of investments, we have also prepared a lot.

PGR21/Starcraft II community,
I humbly bring you Proleague as the chairman of KeSPA.

Please show up to the venue.
We will also try to prepare many events to encourage this.
(I hear there will be especially many gifts tonight. Show up and have fun tonight)

I will also try to show up as much as possible and cheer with you.

Looking back, I think I have worked tiredlessly over the past year.
After being appointed this January, I have tried to achieve many things.
(Opening Naver eSports page, hosting LoL World Championship, Team 8th sponsorship, solving financial issues, applying to Sports Accord etc.)

I wonder how you guys (PGR community)* will evaluate our(KeSPA) performance later on.

I want to be more open and communicate with the community in the coming year of 2014.
I believe that without your support, that none of this would have been possible.

Even though there seems to be dark times ahead politically**,
I take comfort in the fact that eSports future seem a lot brighter.

As the head of KeSPA,
I promise you that in 2014, the Korean eSports will grow,
and there will be a lot more live events for the fans to enjoy.

I want to meet you in a lot more live events in the coming year.
I hope you guys enjoy the Proleague,
and I will see you at the Proleague venue next year!
Thank you.

*When he talks about PGR community, I want you guys to take it as the SCII community as a whole.
**I think he’s talking about how the government is trying to privatize healthcare in Korea right now and that is causing a lot of unrest in Korea.
edit: Arvick Hero points out that it is due to related conservative campaign to restrict gaming and that makes a lot more sense.

Its nice of him to address the fans like he is, but the letter seems rather somber, or maybe its just the translation. i dunno, but i hope everything works out for KESPA, I like proleague, and would like to keep it.

I think the letter had a very gloomy tone in general.

Its really not looking good for the scene when we consider how horrible of a state gstl is in right now and pl isn't really doing great unless this season we see something major happened.

Korean community has the similar sentiment. From what I have seen, Korean fans are coming to realization that this Proleague might be in its last season.
It's really sad to see it go, but I think we should at least give it a farewell it deserves by giving it the attention it deserves.

I don't follow much LoL to know, but I think OGN is banking on LoL Proleague to do well, at least break even, due to its popularity. (Koreans nicknamed OGN LoLgamenet)

Jun Byunghun has done really well and achieved a lot in a short period of time. He did his best and if it doesn't work out, it certainly won't be through any fault of his.

Be prepared for an other round of community shaming if this proleague isn't a success. It will be all our fault guys, not blizzard's.

isn't the political trouble more related to conservative campaign to restrict gaming and label it as one of society's sins or smth

Its weird considering how many fans soo drawn in the gsl final but yet hardly any one turned up for their pl games
