Looking good so far. The production quality was top notch, the stream quality was great (was only watching youtube), wolf and new guy did a very good job aswell. It shows that they are making a real effort to make proleague more attractive and so far it is.

Startale and the rest of eSF teams join Proleague. Proleague is run by SpoTV, broadcasted by SpoTV, casted by casters from GomTV for both English and Korean (I watched the Korean stream and seems like they don't like the new korean casters due to inexperience). GomTV runs GSL, SpoTV helps broadcast it within Korea, through both youtube, Korean websites and streaming sites like afreeca and naver, and also through TV.
Also, SpoTV running their own individual league once in a while will also help korean scene a lot more.

The only problem is I see very small chance of this happening.

They are former MBC guys + Canata. And they already did last year of SC2 Proleague. Lack of experience is the last thing you can say abou them.


Idk there were plenty of complaints on the korean stream that the commentary sucked though.


If the Korean fans are anything like the foreign fans when it comes to appreciation of casting, I don't think it matters who's casting because some people will hate it anyway


Well, netizens can be even worse (like, really bad) unless you're someone like Boxer/Flash/Faker/Madlife

No idea how he came up with that number, but it can't be very far off, since if you look at the top 10 pc bang games, the 10th placed game has 1,7% share. So, Starcraft2 has to be somewhere below that, at least at pc bangs, which of course isn't everything. No idea about the actualy number, though.

Most popular pc bang list every month. SC2 is less than 1%. Esports in korea is very advanced, they have all the polling ratings like we do for television. Lots of data available for sponsors. Surprisingly wc3 (prolly dota) and BW is still respectable 3%+ each. The big winner is ofc lol with around 35%.

Kespa is just hanging on to proleague for nostalgia sake. It is afterall the grandfather of esports. Sadly its time really seems to be fading replaced by ughhh lol leagues. These days they jokingly call ogn lolgamenet.

I'm no expert on PC Bang culture so please educate me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the games that are free to play be much more popular because you don't need to pay for an account? With SC2, you've got to buy the game (with the spawning feature I guess only one of your friends do) and it's not too far-fetched to think that more people play SC2 from home compared to the people playing WC3 or BW because they can just go to a PC Bang and play, without paying for anything else. Or am I wrong?

All I got from the letter is that KESPA invested a lot into Proleague and SC2 is dying.

Also isn't Korea looking to ban professional gaming? I swear I read that somewhere..
