Hey guys just in case you don't browse reddit there was a FPVOD (3mins) of Bogus from the WCS Finals.

This is probably my favorite FPVOD in SC2 (despite it being only 3mins) because of just how damm efficient he is. No bullshit camera hot key spams for this cowboy.

EDIT: It switches to Bogus's FP from 0:10 onwards

Wish every tournament would show fp. So impressive and much more interesting to watch than some semi-afk observer chilling on the army.

This is impossible (?) due to the current environment of tournaments: As far as I know many many pros use custom graphic settings and for a broadcaster to switch between FPs that have graphic inconsistencies is not a wise move. If they enforced a rule where everyone has to play on one setting then this would be resolved but players would complain.

What's the big deal of switching to a diff shot? (FPView of their comp screen). It's just like splicing in another camera angle but from their computer no?

Well you could see it in this tournament, too. They switched between obs and players multiple times and they had very different graphics, but I personally don't mind that. In any case they could just put FPs on seperate streams (I think Iron Squid did this actually!) and then make those "premium" streams or whatever. I'd definitely pay for their pov.

Imagine going from Bogus's pov (high settings?) to his opponent who plays on the lowest setting. That would be really jarring and look bad on a broadcaster's perspective. Not to mention that a lot of pros actually play on low settings (Zerg players) and it looks TERRIBAD.

couldn't you just have an observer view the game through the innovation cam? this way the graphic settings are set by the observer. I'm pretty sure if there are observers in the game it is not that hard to switch between the everyone view and just one specific players view.

i think having it be an option would be a cool choice, it's fun to be able to watch players microing etc from their perspective; it makes it easier to understand their decision making when you see exactly what they see. Also, it could be worth setting up something where, between matches/games during the inevitable (and necessary) waits, we're able to see key engagements/dramatic parts of the game from a player's perspective. Obviously the casters need breaks just as the players do, but it'd be cool after you see a big dramatic engagement on screen resulting in a GG to then be able to watch it from a player's perspective

TBH I think the demand would be too low for any tournament to dedicate a stream of FPVOD (Iron Squid and MLG(?) did it and for that I praise them).

I would prefer the old OSL way where the commentators tell you "We are about to go into Flash's FPVOD" and they transition smoothly from Observer--> 20-30 seconds of Flash punishing decadents---> Observer

Pretty much the only reason I like attending MLGs is to see the first person view of the players. Watching FP view for both players at once is very difficult, but it is so much more enjoyable once you get used to it.

I think the switch from an observer (ingame) to a players point of view isn't the thing i am looking for (and i am not alone i guess). I don't think you would be able to see his mouse move and that is important too :D

What ? I am pretty sure as an observer you can switch from observing to FPV of a player while keeping your graphic setting. You do not see the player screen, you see his moves on your screen.

It's too short, it doesn't show his speed during the endgame.

All I want is for OGN or GOM to set up a "Ladder Attack"-style series with the pros.

All I want in life.

Please.

you're right most terrans don't waste a ton of resources on hellbat drops and come out of the early game at about even supply as protoss. innovation wasted a ton of resources on hellbat drops and comes out ahead.

surely that's a point for innovation being insanely good rather than terran being op.
