Dear Tl
I just realised one thing . I miss the Power Rank
My english is not good enough to write a nice souding (does sounding exist ?-probably not) poem why i miss the Power Rank , so i give you just some short points .
- was awesome and fun to read
- informed me a bit about the game (bw) i never really watched bw games .and i didnt really understand whats goin on. but when the autors pointed out: player a is ranked higher than palyer b this month coz he beat player c on map x with strategy y than it gave me a feeling on understanding a tiny bit about bw (because of power rank i know that u cant buit turrets on ice !)
-informed me abit about the players : so without going deep into the turnaments , nor beeing a real fan of any team (i still dont know why ppl love bisu and h8 flash same time or the other way round) i was still a bit hyped and always curious to see when or why a player got a higher / lower ranking than last month . (i know u guys call flash god - i have no clue why but he was on power rank #1 for a long time -so there shoud be some reason xD)
- i love rankings ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif) i cant get enough of stuff like who s the top dog on mlg/ipl ... so why not a overall power rank ?
in general thats it (i m not good with writing especially in a language i dont master) so when u share my view or got other reasons or just are able to write same stuff i feel with better words ,bump this topic ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
would be awesome to see a monthly sc2 power ranking . i know that you need ppl hard working for such thing but tl is the best community and there should be ton s of awesome guys that can do it

Yeah i never really understood why there was no pr for sc2. At first it was because the game was too unstable to have a relevant ranking in 1-month periods, but i think were past that now.
|
I can second that, would love to see a new Power Rank - even thoug I never really watched BroodWar, I browsed sometimes through the old Rankings to see, when was the first time Flash was no.1 or something else^^
|
There are a lot of power ranks for events. But ya, this + Fantasy + Liquibition ):
|
I feel the Power Rank was very a bit biased. However, I support ranking with solid explanation why someone has X rank. VODs would be welcome. ^^
|
+1 I support power rankings. Even though I think they are kinda meaningless I absolutely love reading them because they are entertaining. Most of the time they are subjective so you can argue in your head as to rather they are correct or not or you can take to the forums and yell about why Bisu should be number 1! I remember asking Flamewheel if they were gonna continue to do them with sc2 the way that they did them with BW and if I recall correctly he mentioned that they might. (I probably don't recall correctly)

Yeah it'd be awesome, plus give the TL Writers some chance to show their wordplay chops more frequently!
I love reading good sports journalism for the same reason as you love the power rank. Yeah you can watch the events if you want, but you really get a lot of value from reading a good expert opinion. I prefer reading about some sports like golf and cricket far more than I do from watching them
|
Been thinking about pr too and I miss it so much! It was one of the things that let me get more into the bw scene when I started watching and were always one of the biggest highlights for me when a new one was released.
Please bring it back :-)

Your English is very good, don't worry! ("sounding" is indeed the word that we use, though, just as a heads-up).
More on-topic: YES. I miss the Power Rankings so much; I also feel that we need a "final BW power-ranking" that, you know, has JangBi on top obviously.

The idea of a Final Power Rank is great! What about an all-time list? Granted that would probably be a nightmare for the writing team to agree on haha ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif)
I mean, speaking as somebody who has gone back and read old power ranks, even though I didn't follow BW they're always a good read.
|
I support a final BW power rank as well as an ongoing SC2 power rank. I know they do power ranks before events sometimes but that only pertains to the people who are actually going to those specific events.
|
even though I never watched SCBW I always read the power rankings, always interesting imo.
|
I loved the Power Rankings, too. When I was too busy to watch any games, I could still spend just a few minutes reading it and get a feel for what was going on.
|
Power Rankings are a forward looking thing, not an ELO-type ranking. The question 'who's on fire right now' doesn't really apply if they've stopped games.
|
Yesssss! I loved the Power Rankings. Even when I stopped following the BW scene so closely, I always kept up to date with the PR. I'd love to see this back.

No unified playing grounds, way too many top players avoid playing other top players in any given month because they are attending different events. With BW all you had was 2 individual leagues and 1 team league. How many leagues do we have for SC2 even if we only count the premier leagues? PR was hard enough to rate even when there was only 1 individual league and 1 team league going on at the same time because you have to qualify and quantify achievements in each league. Making up a ratings system with so many events like IPL / DH / MLG / GSL / OSL / PL is nightmarish.

power rank + fantasy proleague TL PLZ

I figured it was coming once KeSPA got more settled into SC2. Now that the Unholy Alliance is revealed (not that I knew anything beforehand), TL-EG's success vs KeSPA will serve as a pretty good measuring stick, unlike anything up til now (MvP = bad for measuring; GOM = too little; take that! Tastosis: :::: ).
|
I liked reading the individual event power ranks that occasionally were released in SC2. It's too hard to do an overall powerrank because theres so many tournaments that two players could avoid each other for a really long time.
