Jinro Vs TargA NASL Division 5 Match 4
After a decidedly very rough series against SKMC, we find Mindfreak’s TargA in a very precarious position in his Division 5 NASL brackets. The series against the Korean Protoss was discouraging to say the least. Game one the victor seemed to be lag as the game passed in a crawling slide show from the first Drone split to the last few Roaches whelps as death overcame them. It was painful to watch. From there the situation was dire as TargA, already down a game went for a rather all in Roach Ling pressure attack which MC patiently warded off from behind his wall. Now 1-2 overall in the group, this Sunday’s match against Liquid’s Jinro is sure to be a pivotal one.
With the season now well underway and the Division already polarizing between the winners and victors, Jinro sits at the bottom rung on the group. After dropping his series’ to MC, Morrow, and White-Ra(all 1-2, and heavy favorites of Division 5); Jinro without question is hungry for a win. With both players yearning to climb to the top half of the standings, Sunday’s match will surely be a cutthroat one.
True to form and consistent with the way of the newcomer, TargA is again the underdog in the Match Up. While Jinro has been relatively quiet lately on the tournament scene, he can still be found on the Korean ladder grinding out games while streaming. He may not be making waves publicly, but make no mistake he is still practicing. Jinro is a beast, and a experienced one at that. He’s been cutting his teeth in the game since the open seasons of GSL. A competitor at heart and holding true passion for competition and the game, Jinro will not be an easy obstacle to overcome for the fresh faced TargA.
Jinro’s style can really only be described with two words, technical and diverse. We’ve seen everything out of him from the super standard Marine Tank play, to Banshee openings with a quick third base into Mech play. One thing consistent with all aspects of his style is this, strong macro. He will play to the late game, and TargA needs to be ready for that if he hopes to win. It’s impossible to say if Jinro has prepared his strategies for Sunday in a manner to dissect our hero Zerg, but if TargA is not ready to macro against the Gorilla Terran himself, he may as well not show up to the games.
The question worth speculating on then becomes, just what will TargA do to win? We saw Jinro fall in his series against Morrow against a very simple style. The tried and tested Ling/Bling/Muta strategy with heavy Droning was enough to allow a 2-1 victory over the Terran in a convincing fashion. Will we see something like this from TargA? Or will he favor a more Ling/Infestor/Ultralisk style “A La Stephano”. Maybe it will be a mix of both. He could rely on heavy Roach and Ling pressure as well, but I don’t see a more micro based aggressive approach working against this tested Terran.
If TargA hopes to beat Jinro this Sunday, he will need to be patient, and he will need to expand. He will have to shut down the relentless pushes of Jinro, and dismantle his technical play one brick at a time.
Both Jinro and TargA are badly in need of a win this Sunday. In a group where the competition is this stiff, there is no room for more losses for either player. Jinro has the edge of experience on his side, but perhaps TargA feels the void of still lacking a major win strongly enough to be more hungry than the primal Jinro. We shall see. Best of luck to both Jinro and TargA this Sunday in their match 4 series of NASL Division 5

Never heard of TargA before this NASL. I like to see underdogs win, but its Jinro...

Great write up! Posts like these always gives more zest to matches that seem more trivial. Really showing what is on the line. Even better when its a fan, and not some one that represents an organization. Good work!
Edit: I almost forgot. TargA FIGHTING!!

Expected some kind of drama.
Fantastic post man we need more posts like this.

I dont know who targa is, but I hope he smashes Jinro. After the stories ive heard (from jinro himself, they are public interviews) about Jinro dropping out of highschool to play sc2, I never wanted him to win another game. I hope he never wins a single game ever again, I hope he gets dropped from TL and is either forced to go back to school or become homeless. That, and I want more "new" faces in high level sc2.

Wtf is wrong with you? Wishing homelessness on a player? Damn that's some strong hate...

Whoa there, don't get too crazy. He hasn't done anything wrong, and although he doesn't conform to what you would consider a perfect human being, that doesn't mean he should lose his job, and be HOMELESS. Seriously, what he is doing with his life has no affect on you. He is happy, that doesn't have to make you sad.
Why don't you let Nazgul decide if weather the fact that he chose to do something he loved for his career should prevent him from being on TL... oh wait, all progamers are doing something they love.

Uhh so awesome
I suddenly got very pumped for this mu ^^

You would need some seriously strong reasoning behind that. If he wasn't learning anything in high school, then he might as well have dropped out to follow his passion. He did not make any wrong decision.

Nice writeup, I am pulling for Jinro in this one, by the way, is it true TargA only has 1 arm? If so that would be pretty impressive, but I guess it is just in that picture he looks like he only has 1 arm. ^^

enjoyed the writeup. thanks!
