During Blizzard's Q4 conference call they basically stated they don't plan on releasing HOTS until 2013 at the earliest. As quoted from the call,
"The company's first quarter 2012 outlook does not incorporate a new release from Blizzard Entertainment, but its calendar year 2012 outlook anticipates two releases from Blizzard Entertainment".
These two anticipated releases would be Diablo III and Mists of Pandaria for WoW, down from the three anticipated releases mentioned in their last conference call. Full link here: http://investor.activision.com/results.cfm
What are peoples thoughts about this? A year is a long time to wait for this and hopefully that means they have plenty of time to integrate features and make BNet 2.0 less bad.

Actually I think Diablo 3 is the one delayed to 2013.
They recently said they were redesigning the entire skill system for Diablo 3.
|
I bet its diablo that is delayed as well.... in all honesty, I wouldnt be surprised if they both got delayed to 2013. It's just a trend with many video games these days, especially ones from Blizz.
|
First of all this is no confirmation it is still speculation, also I'm sure they talked about atleast two release from blizz.
If it's true I'm quiet happy with it, I hope that means they redesing some of those terrible units they showed at blizzcon (especially the new protoss units are just terrible).

There's a thread to discuss the conference call already. No need to open another one.

Oh snap... well, can we please get an exact, direct quote as to which game (HotS or D3) is definitely delayed and which one may still come out in 2012?
|
It will almost certainly be HotS in 2013, not Diablo 3.
And i guess WoW/Diablo are more important from a business standing, as they regularly earn money from those games (Subscriptions, Real money auction house cut, etc).
Will probably see HotS beta in Q3 or Q4 this year though.
Edit: There is also already a thread discussing the conference call
|
I think HOTS will come sooner then Mists, tbh.
|
Misleading title, they did not say that.
|
i think i heard on the call they said they will release d3 release info in Q2 this year.
|
I guess blizzard is one of the few companies who can easily delay their products but on the other hand the wait for it becomes unbearable. It has it's positives and it's negatives. Do people like it? I don't think so. But it is better than releasing a halfassed product.

I could see HotS being delayed till 2013. Beta would come in Q3, this way pro's could play the Beta over the off season and, release in Q1 of 2013. Bring out HotS for the new tournament season

when in its history has blizzard not delayed ANY release? lol
|
Long life to the Carriers!!

For people confused about the call... Diablo 3 has been confirmed for this year, aiming for a Q2 release. Of the remaining two titles, Mists of Pandaria will either come out this year or Blizzard will lose millions more WoW players. Anyone who has played WoW before knows it's simply not possible to run the same raid for over a year (which is what would happen if Mists of Pandaria isn't released in Q2/Q3 of this year).
So yes, while they don't specifically say "HOTS won't be out this year" it's very obvious that HOTS is the third wheel here. It could be released in 2012 but as of today they don't anticipate it.
|
3 years to release an expansion? Talk about slow. And to think that some idiots were whining that Blizzard is charging full price for 1/3 of a game because it only had Terran campaign
|
Wait... The release of the full game or the release of the BETA?
Because if it's the full game then I'm happy for the delay since balance is a very important issue.
|
So we have to wait that long until they fix the Zergs? Alright.
