The Starcraft 2 forums are very busy places, and there are great posts from experienced pros that get too easily buried and ignored/forgotten. I've decided to start collecting all the pro posts I come across and showcase them in a single thread once a week.
I don't post everything they say; I try to stick with the most interesting things that are still related to SC2. If there's something great a pro has said that you think should be part of this thread, PM me or post it here and I'll try to add it to the OP.
Again, please note that this isn't for the purpose of arguing with pros or stirring up controversy. This whole idea comes from wanting to know people with better perspectives have to say. I want to draw attention to their posts so we can give their opinions more respect, not less.

It's a sad day for protoss. Today naniwa showed how to play protoss in a perfect way with solid builds. Killing 12 queens, 20 overlords with 4 fenix and 1 voidray just to die 2 minutes later. How is it possible blizzard? How did the game turn out this way?
Second game it was over when naniwa didn't spot the mutas but in some amazing way he held it off. Playing the best starcraft I have ever seen he even got his forth up. Best control that has ever been showed was used to force the first attack back. He crushed it. Second attack was just too much, blizzard had taken another victim. It is time you guys open your eyes and listen to players. I have spent one and a half month here now and many of the top players fistpump when they see they play a toss at the ladder. Just because the game seems balanced in rest of the world it is far from the truth. You could probably send any top200 player here to europe and he would consistantly win weeklys. Korea is the only place you can consider when balancing the game if you want it to be balanced on the highest level.
Good job patching the game. But patching was the only thing you did good since all the changes was bad and wrong. You guys solved brood war, you solved wc3, you can solve sc2 aswell. The NP change was the worst ever. Now you remove even more micro from the game. It was a skill to lift/target infestors with colo and it was a skill to be able to NP without dying. Now range is shorter so it will be more luck for the spell to use. The right change who everyone says is to make units move when fungled with a reduced movement speed. Damage wasn't the problem before and it wont be now aswell. In my honest opinion have a emergancy meeting asap and have the top players in korea give them their opinion on the game. You will see how far away you are from what should have been done. The truth is out there!
Would also be nice to get a point of view from blizzard how they think toss should play in certain matchups because obviously none of us can do it. They must have some ideas they don't share with us since they keep making the game worse and worse for us. One base mother ship hello?

You can be faster than your opponent and still lose, as long as his decision making and game sense is better, speed is not that important (as long as you don't sit around at like 10 apm) When speed really matters is when both players are of equal skill when it comes to decisionmaking/gamesense. Because then you need other variables to seperate them.

This is kinda the dilemma with e-sports now though. I can only think of rare occassions, if any, where it'd actually be worth sueing a player for an e-sport organsiation. But on the other hand, if you never set down the foot and show the community that this is not tolerated, what stops contracts from being utterly pointless from the beginning? In the end you're left with teams who can't be sure they have their players left next week, which is going to do nothing but kill one team after another.
Point being, teams need to make a stand and can't let stuff like this slip away IMO. As long as it's not too costly I'd love to see legal action being taken, or at least attempted. Might even consider taking legal action even if it hurts economically or eventually more players might feel inclined to just spit on their current contracts and just go to whoever bids the highest this week.

Mech play rewards players with good decision making/patience/game sense though so I guess it's all about how you like to play the game, what I didn't like was that bio became such a bad option in the end. Bio to me is also including tanks, pure bio was never really in my taste either. At least bio feels like a more valid option to mech now which is great, I think the mech-oriented play in TvT made it a lot more about coinflipping the right BO and whoever could do the most damage with his hellions won.

It is true that i have been unmotivated a bit which has shown in my results because of protoss insane downfall the last couple of weeks / months. But with a new patch and new possibilitys and especially with many other protoss players here to talk to about the game im sure my motivation will rise through the roof. I am much better now than when i placed high in homestory cup etc, I just need to play alot more and adjust perfectly to their style here to be more consistent and win more games, Also balance affects quite a lot atm i think we can clearly say that protoss is by far the worst race at the moment.

I strongly disagree. In Broodwar there was Protoss Bulldog against Terran fast expansion. It was 3 gates + a robotics for shuttle to drop zealots on the high ground. It was INSANELY hard to defend and very basic to execute for a good player.
Ofcourse I agree with you, that the 1-1-1 or any variation of the build is 'easy' but not as easy to execute as a lot of people might think. Ofcourse its still easier than the defence (far easier I'd even say).
The thing is, that there is NOTHING TO NERF. Marines are not overpowered in itself, neither are tanks, medivacs or banshees. The combination of all those things make it very hard for Protoss. Barracks build time got nerfed and immortal range got buffed, I think this will lead to a more solid defence which could help out a lot, we will see.
But "people like me" would still play and work on the game instead of wasting time complaining.

ZvP from the statistics looks much more broken than PvT with Zerg winning 59% while Terran 'only' wins 53%. Those 53% are within the variation of winning percentages that Blizzard accepts so for them there's no nerf needed.
Actually I don't know where or when, but I think Blizzard made a statement that as long as a match up is within 50-54 or 55% winrate they won't change it as it is totally possible and reasonable that the match up is not 50/50.
I agree that some adjustments have to be made (I don't know if the immortal change will be 'enough' to beat 1-1-1) but you have to be careful about it. TvZ looks very good right now and I think the game is on the right way.
We still have to keep in mind that the games changes monthly or weekly with builds and strategies, but as long as a 1-1-1 allin is as powerful it might develop slower since there's no need to try out other builds.

That being said, yes, I do agree - you should be able to play a straight and solid game as well as a tricky / cheesy game to be less predictable.

It actually doesn't matter how strong one race is in some stages of the game. If Zerg can't reach lategame because of imbalance or disadvantages there's no point in not adjusting the game. Ofcourse you have to take into account the Korean players.
Ofcourse NesTea with his individual skill makes for good games, but most Zergs for example still suffer and die easily. You have to take a look into the proscene, but do not take a few examples out of there that are probably outstanding.
If both races have even chances of reaching all stages of the game you can begin adjusting the strength of different units and aspects which will lead to hopefully - just the lategame. As in nerf broodlords in damage output etc.
I understand what you mean I think, but I still don't think I agree with what you are saying. And I do also hate TvZ Lategame. :o! I can imagine on absolute highest level TvZ 25+ will lead in insanely close games, as Zerg is sick powerful, but Terran with good control and upgrades as well as bases can make good use of the ghost.

It's a fun style, but you are definitely overestimating it. A good zerg w/ turtle infestor play (or, honestly, mutas work too to stop drops...) will rarely lose to this. It really doesn't work well unless you can get an advantage with a timing push before he gets any mutas or infestors/bane speed finished. You can tell me it does all you want, but the fact is that you are wrong if you are playing someone good. I used to use this style allllll the time.
Making marauders makes it a bit more durable vs Infestor play though. Your claim that Infestor play loses straight up to drops is simply untrue - it does not take many infestors to turtle, he will only have problems if he tries to move out too much.

Don't do it.. it leads PERFECTLY into an expansion -> bio style. You have a lot of extra minerals but no gas because of the reapers, and can quickly get stim + combat shields with your two tech labs.
Just expo, add 2 rax / stim / combat shields and tech to medivac.
If you insist, you might as well just add 2 more rax and get stim for marine marauder allin, but that kinda sucks lol.

Awesome, now blink allin might actually not be a free win vs 1 rax cc on this map.
Any zerg in this day and age who loses to a drop in that location is awful beyond belief. Sunkens can reach everything there even when you dont have mutas (and you should always have mutas unless you are going infestors... in which case you fungal everything thats stuck in a tiny little blob and throw down a couple of infested terran eggs).

Whaaaaaaaaat? Unless Lucifron had gotten extremely good without making any waves that reach me, which has not happened yet and would be very odd, then that tells me all I need to know about DRG playing a ZvT. You are focusing too much on Lucifron when my job isn't to evaluate Lucifron, it's to evaluate the matchup DRG vs Lucifron. Of course, part of that is evaluating Lucifron. But because DRG ZvT is such an extreme, I only need to ask myself, do I think it's probable that Lucifron is top 5 TvZ player in the world (including Koreans)? No? Then DRG gonna win ezpz (as he said in his own words).

We've always said stacking (since storm in sc1), not clipping. The damage gets clipped but the spells stack. It's misleading to talk about fungal and clipping directly. If you stack fungals, you clip damage. If you chain fungals, you don't clip damage.

I think this is an interesting topic because it's proof that there's money in the community that wants to get out to make the industry better. There's a bit of failure on the business side of things to properly get things rolling. Fans' money and attention could be used more efficiently to make a better product for them to enjoy and to put money/benefits in the pockets of people who deserve it (like MKP). As it is, fans have to resort to deciding for themselves and giving the money directly haha. Which is awesome, it really shows the passion and support of our community, but hopefully the industry can find a way to use business and economics to automate this process efficiently.
