I'm a food and fitness-enthusiast, I do some bodybuilding in my spare time. I used to be underweight as a kid (not anorexic or anything like that, just general lack of appetite and hard to put on weight), due to not eating enough, so as soon as I picked up bodybuilding it was pretty clear to me that I had to start eating a lot more than I was at first comfortable with, as well as make some changes to my general eating habits.
Because I find food so fascinating and am always looking for new and tasty ways to improve my diet, I thought it would be a good idea to get an idea of what other gamers eat. Do you buy a lot of easy-to-prepare stuff (i.e. pizza), do you use the microwave a lot, how many warm meals do you have a day, etc.
All these questions I would like to somewhat circumvent, and instead ask you this: imagine all the food and fluid in your house has vanished. You're off the to grocery store (which has everything you need inside - a butcher, a lady selling all the nuts and seeds you could think of, a supermarket, Fruitdealer himself and so forth). What does your grocery list look like (assuming you're gonna stock your lockers and fridge because you won't be going to the store again anytime soon)?
Here is mine:
Fruits/Vegetables - Broccoli - Pineapple - Strawberries - Blueberries - Avocado - Tomatoes - Lettuce - Mushrooms - Pepperbells (paprika) - Aubergines (eggplant) - Cucumber
Dairy/Grains - Whole milk - Eggs - Cottage cheese - 40+ cheese - Butter - Whole-grain bread - Oatmeal - Rice
Meat/Fish - Herring - Eel - Tuna (canned, water - don't like the ones with oil) - Chicken breast (only type of meat I really like)
Spices/Dressings/Oils/Sauces - Cinnamon - Basilica - (black) pepper - Curry - Garlic - Natural dressing - Powdered paprika - Olive oil
Supplements - Whey Protein (isolate) - Omega 3 fish-oil caps - Multivitamin
Misc. and 'arguable food choices' - Soup (I love all kinds of soup, especially the standard tomato soup) - Chocolate milk - Pizza - Probably a few cans of energy drink
I probably forgot something, this was from the top of my head but this should do for now.
The reason I create this thread is to get a general idea of what fellow gamers and forum-goers eat, and perhaps we can get inspiration from each other's lists. I have this thread running on another forum and this guy had mushrooms in his list, which totally blew my mind because I had not eaten them in ages even though I enjoy them a lot, I simply forgot about them lol.

=( Im in college, college students don't have grocery lists.
When I'm able to go to Walmart I buy: A few crates of water, chips, milk, and cereal.
I love your well balanced diet though. I wish I could be dedicated to my health enough to do that.

Hi, can you post your age/weight/height before and now? I am kind of underweight as well.
I pretty much eat everything you eat except the supplements, but I also eat beef, sausages, ham, yogurt, and ice cream.
|
Beer, milk, captain crunch, celery (with ranch), lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ham/turkey/roast beef, bread, mustard, assorted hot spices and sauces, bananas (green > yellow), PB+J, Clementine, tuna (albacore)
|
I try to eat somewhat healthy, but I'm not really a fitness enthusiast. That said, I go for:
Meat: Steak, chicken, hotdogs, hamburgers, turkey sub sandwiches, bacon, beef jerky
Spices/sauces: Ketchup, honey mustard, salt, pepper, various spices that sound tasty
Misc: Stouffurs chicken and rice, lasagna, pickles, cheerios
Veggies: Carrots, broccoli, corn
Dairy: Milk, eggs, cheese
Drinks: Water, milk
That about covers it. I'm really heavy on meat, I guess, but I do try to add in some veggies. Carrots in particular I think I eat a fair amount of. I stay away from pizza products and chips, because while tasty they're not too good for you. I think I eat moderately well.

I'm 186cm (which is just slightly above 6'1) and weigh 85kg right now (you'll have to convert that one yourself), I used to weigh 54kg at 186cm back when I was 14. I grew relatively fast, but also stopped growing when I hit 186cm. I'm 21yo right now, and have a fairly low bodyfat % (abs visible, but not 'cut' or 'ripped').

I'm in college too. When you live in an apartment rather than a dorm, it'll become important to make good food choices without spending a lot of money. organizing the grocery list then becomes a real challenge.
Meats Bacon Chicken Breast Salmon/Haddock/some kind of fish filet Tuna (canned in water) Steak for special occasions. Nice and thick ones.
vegetables Broccoli Carrots (both of these fresh) Corn Green Beans (frozen) Occasionally lettuce for salad Cucumber Do mushrooms go Here?
fruit Bananas Oranges Allergic to most other fruits.
Dairy Extra sharp cheddar cheese whole milk (usually drink ~3 gallons/2 weeks)
Other beverages Green Tea Tonic Water Lemon/Lime Juice Occasionally a bottle of coke
misc Eggs Honey Almonds Various meat seasonings Bleu Cheese Dressing Chips + salsa (occasionally)
Typically I'll eat two large Hot meals that I prepare myself - something on the order of 1000 calories in a meal, in the early afternoon and late evening (2 pm eggs + baccon and 10 pm chicken + broccoli) with snacks (almonds, cheese, fruit, carrots) spread through the day in between. I don't usually eat before noon though.
