Poppy and Alistar are very strong, but require more experience, and Soraka, Janna and Sivir are all very powerful but reward defensive play. I'd recommend trying the free ones from this post and seeing if any click with you.

However, if you want a steady character, I advise Ashe. She's good for starters, and besides hawk-eye all of her abilities are fairly agressive. I also recommend Fiddlesticks (1350), because he can do a lot of fun stuff like drain the shit out of other people, and piss them off beyond belief :D. Lastly is Tryndamere... not much to say about him... but he is a great starter character... just search him up on google. use the words "tryndamere", "how", and "broken" and you can find great ways to play him. GL ^^ Tryndamere is bad and actually really difficult to play, Evelynn is easily shut down after you get past the meganoobs etc. and it's difficult as well. Ashe imo is too squishy to be reliable in the lower level games. I'd suggest Sion actually since he can play any role that's needed. Master Yi is awesome for carrying and easy to lasthit and farm with. Non-mana champions tend to be stronger in lower level games in general because of the mana issues. Mundo can stomp like crazy, but imo the best champion to get would be Mordekaiser if you can save up 3150.

Easy to use and good staring characters: - Ashe (range ad carry) - 450 IP you will see ashe throughout every lvl range and ranked matches because she adds so much utility to the team. Range AOE nuke that can poke very far away, slow effect to catch fleeing heros, a scout ability and a good ultimate. - Nunu (jungler/melee mage tank) - 450 IP If you ever try to jungle, nunu is one of the best junglers/ganker of the game and very cheap just like ashe, both are use in competitive play. His best asset to a team is him jungle speed and utility to a team with a slow spell and a haste aspd/move spd buff for yourself and a team member. Also his devastating AOE ultimate is game changing if you can land it (it hits really really hard). - Ryze (mage/ap carry) - 1350 IP Good dmg and survivability for a mage, i haven't tried him yet since the recent changes but some ppl like him more now because he is more tanky than before. Really easy itemize just build tanky items with mana, starting with catalyst and/or tear of the goddess. - Sion (tanky/mage) - 1350 IP Hes a beast, you only need to spam 2 skills to be good with him and he can farm gold really easy. With 1:1 ap ratios he can burst ppl instanly and kill ppl with just 1 combo of his q+w (stun + aoe dmg shield). - Fiddlesticks (mage) - 1350 IP His combo can kill anyone .. with his game changing ultimate followed by his sick CC moves like silence+fear into casting "Drain" one of the most damaging starting spell in the game, you can turn any fight into your team favor. These are 1350 IP but a little more difficult to use but they are also really good. - Janna (support) - Zilean (support) - Annie (mage carry). There are many more good champs on the 1350 range like Mundo, Amumu, Singed but like I'm recommending you the easiest champions to learn and start owning scrubs.

I'd also reccomend Cho'Gath, he costs 3150, but he is extremely aggresive and very strong as well; arguably top tank at the moment. MUNDO IS VIABLE WHERE HE PLEASES Fiddle will crush anyone who tries to outdamage drain in lane, can jungle without runes, has lots of cc, has an ult that just curbstomps disorganized players (i.e. solo queue)... basically fiddle is one of the best solo queue champions. Oh you can also solo dragon, which is nice.

If you learn ashe now you'll pretty much learn to be pro with every other ranged carry and carry bads in solo queue when you hit lvl 30.

I think Ryze or Sion are great choices, Sion is tanky and has a stun so you can afford to be a bit more careless with him and you can also gank pretty well. Ryze is good and helps if you want to play AP carry. Really it depends on what your friends play and what role you need to fill. If they're willing to play whatever then it depends on whether or not you want to solomid, jungle, dual lane, etc. For just in general though I'd probably say Annie, Ryze, or Sion as you can get kills with these three and play fairly aggressive (though you have to be careful with Annie as she's pretty squishy).

As for her being boring... I know a lot of people find her very boring but I also know people that enjoy playing her, like I. Just try her out and see!

She is a ranged carry that gets punished for making one bad move (unlike other ranged carries that have a blink.) She also requires a lot of game sense because most of the time you'll be the one initiating and knowing when to initiate is a hard and important game skill. As for her being boring... I know a lot of people find her very boring but I also know people that enjoy playing her, like I. Just try her out and see! Just play defensive. You can't lose your lane vs. almost anyone and it's hard as dick to be ganked. Yeah, it requires game sense but once you have a basic understanding of the game she's way easier than most other ranged carries in my opinion. And as soon as you hit 6 you can kill the person in your lane so much better than any other DPS ranged carry.

And hard to gank? You gank once and make her blow ghost or flash. You then gank again and she is dead. dunno whats hard about that.
