NOTICE 2015-12-03: we are ACTIVE thanks based REBOOT yes we are all starting fresh/new on the REBOOT server. #TLMS
Game website: http://maplestory.nexon.net
ACTIVE ON REBOOT SERVER
Server: Reboot / Demethos (Global MapleStory)
+ Show Spoiler [(if required) Proxy:] +
If you are new to MS, the game is a 2D platformer/sidescrolling class-based MMORPG. Like all F2P MMOs,
Keep in mind that the new Reboot server has taken out majority of P2W elements in the hopes of attracting old players back... which we are definitely trying out.
If you have not played MS in the past 5+ years, know that the game has changed a lot. The most important thing you need to know is that the old EXP curve, which used to be insane amounts of grinding, has been reduced by up to 90%. It is now very easy to level to 100 (fourth job) with just a moderate amount of activity.
[Reboot - ACTIVE]
Guild is up and running. TLMS (main) / Strugglers (alt)
1) Please post your IGN (in-game name) in this thread.
2) Search "TLMS" in the guild tab.
3) Apply / request to join - please apply to the main guild for your active character.
4) One of us will verify and accept.
[Demethos - INACTIVE]
TeamLiquid (main) / Liquid_D (alt 1) / Team8 (alt 2)
Leave your IGN here so that we can verify you + complete the guild invite.:
HAPPY REBOOT
Mostly Outdated FAQ
+ Show Spoiler +
- Who do I whisper to join?
A: Post your IGN and I'll notice you soon or later.
- How can I play with you guys if I don't live in North America?
A: Use the proxy listed in the General Info. If you have an account from 3-4 years ago (before the region split), it will still be usable for you to log in to. If you do not, there may be some errors in creating an account - you can PM a guild member here to create an account for you with the specified information. Using the proxy is known to have some lag issues, in general things like picking up items, so be aware of this (although this is easily solved by getting a pet).
- What class should I roll? Is there any job that the guild particularly wants to have more of?
A: It doesn't matter.
Even if you do want to play to help the guild we would rather you choose a job you enjoy playing instead of just picking whatever we have the least of . Basically, pick whatever class you'll enjoy the most.
- How do I join you guys on TeamSpeak?
A: Here. We are under TL MapleStory. Ask us in-game if you can't figure out the channel password.
- Answer my game-specific question! Where do I train blah blah blah
A: Check the "Useful Resources / Self-Help" section below (especially Kyuukyuu's MS101, or Google it. Just remember that Google'd information prior to December 2013 may not be accurate. Alternately you can also ask us in-game, but we prefer not to answer questions that have been already explained in detail (read that MS101) in the resources section.

Zakum Prequest Guide
Zakum
Level requirement: 50 (prequest), 110 (attacking)
HP requirement: 3000
Notes: Zakum is the most easily accessible boss for the guild, as pretty much all of us can solo him without much difficulty. It is also bad exp, so it is rare for us to run it for no reason - if you need a skill book or a zak helm, just ask in-game.
Scar/Targa Prequest Guide
Scarlion
Targa
Level requirement: 85 (prequest) 90 (looting) 140 (attacking)
HP requirement: 3500
Notes: Scar/Targa is the least accessible boss for the guild, as it requires all members to be in Malaysia, where nobody ever goes. It is recommended to just go for a Chaos Zakum Helm instead, as we almost never run these bosses.
Papulatus Quest Guide
Papulatus Clock
Level requirement: 120
HP requirement: 3500
Notes: Decent exp from 120 to 130, can be easily solo'd twice a day. If you wish to repeat this daily, do not complete the last quest of the quest line - forfeit it then restart it to obtain free entry key (piece of dimension).
Von Leon
Von Leon Video
Level requirement: 120
HP requirement: 6000 (melee) 4000 (ranged)
Notes: Von Leon is doable but not worth the time. Additionally, the reward for completing it is not useful any more.
Chaos Zakum
Level requirement: 140
HP requirement: 14000 (melee) 6000 (ranged)
Skill recommendation: least 1 into Hero's Will
Notes: Due to the combination of skills czak uses, a wheel of destiny (map-revival nx item) may be needed for survival. Czak helm is generally a decent helm on any character.
Bodyguard A
Bodyguard B
Grampa
Level requirement: 155
HP requirement: 5500
Notes: Great exp for higher level players to solo. Drops are insignificant in value so most runs are solo, however if you are collecting monster cards we can make an exception.
Horntail Prequest Guide
Horntail
Level requirement: 160
HP requirement: 14000 (melee) 6500 (ranged)
Skill recommendation: at least 1 into Hero's Will
Notes: Similar to Czak. HT pendant is one of the easiest pendants to obtain in this game, so ask us if you need one.
Crimsonwood Keep PQ
Level requirement: 90
Notes: Two of each class grouping (Warrior/Mage/Thief/Bowman/Pirate) are required to run this PQ, with at least one Explorer-type of each.
Hilla
Level requirement: 120
Notes: Great for leeching and looting certain 4th job skill books. If you are level 120-130, have one of the Lvl200 people carry you for some (quick and easy) EXP.
Pink Bean
Level requirement: 120 (minimum expedition) 180 (recommended)
Notes: Read the guide and ask for directions from expedition leaders. Does not drop anything notable as of this update.
Cygnus Empress
Level requirement: 170 (minimum expedition) 190 (recommended)
Notes: Empress drops are considered affordable top-tier gear. Ask for specific directions from expedition leaders - this is a difficult boss and if you f*** it up then we won't be happy.

[Free Market]
This is obvious, but if you played back in beta or perhaps early Scania you probably still think Perion is where you go to buy or sell items. FM channel 1 entrance for spam buying (a la beta Perion), actual market areas themselves to set up shop (permits and vendors purchased from cash shop). TeamLiquid is generally heavily invested into merchanting, players will usually be on hand to help you with any price checks and the like.
[Professions/Crafting]
Once you reach level 30, you will be able to pick your profession. There are two basic professions (mining, herbalism) and three crafting professions (smithing, accessories, alchemy). You may choose one basic profession and one crafting profession. Mining goes with smithing and accessories, herbalism goes with alchemy. Do keep in mind that profession-related trait experience will give you different bonuses. More details are explained in the next section.
[Traits]
Beyond the traditional HP/MP and STR/DEX/INT/LUK that we all know of, MS introduced another set of "traits" that give you various (permanent) bonuses to your character.
Ambition - raise by killing boss monsters - gives ignore DEF and decreases death EXP penalty.
Empathy - raise by collecting herbs - increases max MP and quest completion experience.
Insight - raise by mining ores - increases accuracy and avoidability.
Willpower - raise by doing party quests - increases max HP, DEF, and status resistance
Diligence - raise by crafting - increases double mastery chance and scroll success rate
Charm - raise by gaining fame or wearing certain equipment - grants a "pocket slot" at level 30 charm
[Family System]
The family system allows characters to be linked to other characters via a Junior/Senior relationship. A tree of these relationships forms the family tree. When a Junior gains experience or levels up, reputation ("reps") are recorded to their Senior. Reps may be used for a variety of things, such as teleporting to or summoning a fellow family member, or using 1.2x drop or 1.2x EXP buffs on yourself. Note that only the Senior gains reps, if you are the Junior you must find a Junior of your own to gain reps. Juniors must be at most 20 levels lower than their Senior in order to join the family. After joining, the level gap does not matter, the family tie will not disconnect if you surpass or drop below this threshold.
[Potentials]
The "pro-ness" of gear has changed wildly since the first editions of Maplestory. Now, outside of scrolling, Potentials exist to boost the effectiveness of your equips. Potentials are additional effects stated at the bottom of the item description, such as "+6% DEX, +15% Ignore Defense", etc. They are either found on the item when it is picked up, or added to an item via Potential Scrolls or Advanced Potential Scrolls, and are revealed by purchasing a Magnifying Glass from nearly all potion/general vendors.
There are three tiers of Potentials, and four levels of Potentials. The tier of the potential limits how good the potential can be, and is determined by the level of the item. A level 25 item will not have the same possible potentials as a level 90 item. The tiers are separated at level 30 and 70 (i.e. tier 1 = 1-30, tier 2 = 31-70, tier 3 = 71+). Levels are Rare, Epic, Unique, and Legendary, and determine how strong the potential is, within its tier range. For example, a Rare, 3rd-tier item might have something like +3% DEX, while a Unique 3rd-tier item might have +9% DEX.
Potentials are referred by their tier, their level, and the number of lines - either two or three. The number of lines is simply how many effects are stated.
Still confused? Here's a D2 analogy to help you out. Think of older day MS as only having items crude / normal / superior. Now MS has magic/rare/unique items!
[Item Sets]
You may have wondered why I left out the "sets" from the previous D2 analogy. Well, set items and bonuses exist in MS as well. Like in D2, the set pieces give you additional bonuses as you wear more of them, and of course, a full set will give you awesome powers. There are few sets in MS but most of them are super high-tier items.
