Some of you noticed my comment in the "Ladder Map Changes" article (EU) and showed support and interest in this spreadsheet. So I decided to publish it. This is what it's about:

Introduction
Since there is no easy way to see how well you perform on each map, for each different match-up, I decided to create a spreadsheet to keep track of those statistics myself. The result looks like this:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll200/Gulzt/Starcraft II/SC2stats.jpg

Overview
It shows you 3 tables and a chart:
*Match History:
This is where you add your matches. It's the database-table, containing all the specific data of each match you played.

*Matches Played:
Using some smart formula's this table will collect the data from the Match History automatically, and show you how many games you played in each match-up on each map.

*Win-Loss Ratio:
This is what the sheet is really about. Using the data from the Match History, this table shows you exactly how many wins and losses you had on each map, in each match-up, as well as how many percent of your games you won.

*The chart shows your the progress of your rating.

I'll explain how it works, but I guess you first want to know:

Where to download
I created this spreadsheet in Numbers, a Mac-only spreadsheet application. For those of you in luck of owning a Mac, download this version:

NUMBERS
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BztRlVZs1rI1ZDAwYzZjNTgtYTJlNC00ZTQ1LTg3ZTAtZDQxMGNmMGRmODVj&hl=en&authkey=CMDepAw

I exported my sheet to Excel, using Number's build-in export function. It doesn't look as fancy, but it works the same. I can't guarantee everything works as intended, but let me know if you find some issues and I’ll see what I can do.

EXCEL
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BztRlVZs1rI1YjI5MjY0OWUtMDcxZS00NDAxLTk1NmQtOWQyZDJiMTZkZTZm&hl=en&authkey=CNLgiYcO

Data input
It works really simple. Everytime you finish a match, you add a row to the match history table and fill in the details:
Matchup, map, win/loss, patch, rating change. Copy-paste a "rating" cell, to have it automatically calculate your new rating. All the other data is handled automatically!

I play zerg, so the spreadsheet operates for my match ups: ZvZ, ZvT & ZvP. If you play another race you can change it:
*In the "Matches Played"-table simply edit the text boxes: ZvZ, ZvT & ZvP. So for example if you play protoss, you can change it to:
PvP, PvT & PvZ

*In the "Match History"-table, the field "Match-up" & "Map" correspond with the "Matches Played"-table & the "WLR"-table. So as long as you make no spelling errors in your Match-up and Map-names, the table will display exactly how many Matches you played in each match-up, per map. I recommend using copy-paste for the map names.

*You can freely change the map names to another language or abbreviate, as long as you use those same names in the "Match History"-table. Make sure you use the same names for both the "Matches Played" and the “WLR”-table.

*The tables do support random, but it’s not implemented. If you happen to play random, you could extend the columns in the Matches Played & WLR to display all the different match-ups. Add new Columns, drag the formula’s to the correct fields, it should automatically change to required references. You only need to adjust the range of the “total”-formulas. I’m not supporting this currently, so I’m sorry if you have trouble with this.

*The rating-chart automatically updates, but not to newly added rows in the match history. I don’t know if this is supported by the application, I couldn’t figure out how to do it. In Numbers, I simply select the chart, and it will highlight the corresponding rows in the “match history”-table. I drag the down-right corner downwards until it covers my new rows.

Back tracking of data
You might wish to have your data displayed from the very first match you played. This can take a lot of work if you already played hundreds of matches. You could consider to just start keeping track of it from now on, but in case you’re willing to go back all the way to your first match, here is how:
-Login to your starcraft account.
-Click on your portrait and find the tab that shows “Match History”
-Filter 1v1 (or whatever data you like to keep track of)
-Scroll all the way down. The lowest row mights show “Show more entries”. you have to keep scrolling and clicking the “show more entries” until you reached the bottom.
-Now the obnoxious part is that you have to click each individual game to be able to see the match-up. Worse yet, if you use the “back” option, the filter is gone, and it’s back on top of the list. So the process of getting all your matches gathered is quiet a chore, mainly because of that “reset”.
-Another thing I encountered is that you lose/gain points if you are demoted/promoted to another league. This can make it hard to backtrack your exact rating. Just add all the “rating-changes” for each match and it will output a rating. Compare it with your actual rating and decrease one of the values in a “rating”-field in the “Match History”-table to even it out.
-A specific issue: One of my games went missing, but I noticed the moment it happened and saved the replay. The points were detracted, and it counted as a loss. If you backtrack your list and you miss a match, (your profile shows how many matches it registered) you could have faced the same issue.

Some unimportant things
*The pink bars in row 11 & 22 highlight when I was promoted to a higher league. This was added manually, you can simply remove it.

*One of the fields is grey, that’s the game I was referring to earlier. Just change the background, forget about it

*I wrote down the patch numbers, but it’s not doing anything. I just fill it in, never know if it’s useful at some point.

*You can add columns, it won’t harm the formulas. If you like to write down the date/time, what you had for dinner that day etc, that’s up to you.

updates
The mappool changes from time to time. I’ll update it for myself, so if you require a more up to date version, you can just let me know and I’ll update the files on the server. It’s fairly easy to make the changes yourself though.
Just add a few rows in the “matches played” & “WLR”-table. Write down the map name, copy-paste every other cell from a row above it, (should show only zeros when you did it correctly) and you’re done. Add a match to the match history as if you played on that “map” and see if the numbers change to make sure you did it right.
note: The order of the maps is important! It has to have the same order in the “Matches Played” & “WLR”-table. That’s because the formulas in the “WLR”-table refer to cells in the “Matches-Played” table, where they assume to point to the same map. I could use a more complex formula to have them seek for the exact map-name, but it’s not worth the trouble, since the mappool is so small. Just sort it alphabetically in both tables and you should be fine.

I already added Shakuras Plateau & Jungle Basin to the list.

Well that’s it. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!

Thanks, this is very useful stuff. Awesome.

I added some new graphs to my edit. For example the percentages of different opponent's races I've faced as a pie graphic. Seems so that 54% of opponents I've faced are Terran while Zerg and Protoss getting a lesser share. Almost one third of matches I've played 1v1 are set on Xel'Naga Caverns. Very easy to do even if one isn't familiar with excel as I.

Hey, that's a great idea! Only problem I have with numbers® is when I start using more than 1 chart it's slowing down my machine immensely. Do you use Numbers or Excel? Must be a bug, I have the fastest Mac there is with 8GB RAM and still it uses 100% CPU power when you edit a chart

If you somehow made it so that the sc2gears program inserted the data automatically, that would be great :D

Great job, I find this really useful.

Maybe blizzard should consider to add these type of stats in game I mean if you are a competitive player and want to get better yo want to know which is your worst match up.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I realize it would be great if sc2gears information could be inserted in my spreadsheet (automatically) or vica versa. But it would involve some programming skills I don't have. If the creator of sc2gears would consider the option to allow "manual" input, for games that have no replay (since they already got erased) they could offer the same functionality that is now unique to my spreadsheet.

I agree with BishopOne, it would be awesome if blizzard would keep track of these statistics automatically. This was present in Warcraft III after all, so we know they are very much capable of doing it.

Luckily once you have the first data in, it hardly takes any time to add new games to the data-table, the formulas take care of the rest.

You said that you did not know how to add new rows and have them show up in the other charts? Is there any experimental way to do this?

I hope to start using this application (in Excel), however, I play A LOT, and will will the 77 available match numbers in no time.

Well, I don't know how to have it automatically update the chart if you add new rows. Doing it manually is very easy though. I'll try and figure out how it's done in Excel and update the post, going to sleep now, so it'll take a while, but I'll get to it somewhere tomorrow.

Gulzt, thank you for this, it's inspired me to do my own spreadsheet. I couldn't use yours because I play random, so I took the liberty of reverse-engineering your inputs to add cross-matchups. I've found that I'm good with PvT and PvZ (75% win rate!) and atrocious at ZvP (30% win rate). It's helpful to have this data at a glance to see my progression and which matchups I need to work hardest on.

You're welcome Dogchow, and it's great you turned it into a random version. Would you be so kind to share your file as well?

isn't it possible to just pull this data from sc2ranks.com or similar website and then have a new website to log this data? Or perhps talk to sc2ranks.com or similar website people to add this feature to their existing site.

Seems great, nd I would love this information, but having to manually input stuff is too much wrk for me (though not for some people).

Looks great though and I'm sure a lot of people will benefit.

I don't mind inputting the data myself, but I wish that it came in a clean form, because after deleting all the information that was already there, it bugged out and now it isn't keeping track of the map stats or WLR. I'm using the excel version at the moment because the Numbers version link doesn't work aslo

I've tried uploading my Excel spreadsheet to Google docs but it broke all my formulas. Is there an alternate site to share the file in its original form?

Would it not be possible to import data from your profile via your battle.net profile instead of having to manually enter all the data it?

@Cade
I corrected the Numbers link, should work now. I don't know why it didn't work, but it appears Google Docs gives another link, depending on the page I'm viewing. One requires log-in, the other doesn't, but it doesn't make since, because it links to the exact same page.
I can download the file now when I'm not logged in, so it should work as intended now.

I'll make a clean version. I never intended to publish this file, it's that people showed so much interest, that I did. That's why it's not as user friendly as could be. You should be allowed to empty the cells without any damage, unless you actually "removed" all the rows rather than cleared them If you want you could share your file and I'll see what went wrong..

@DogChow
That's because the google spreadsheet differs from Excel & Numbers. To solve it, upload it again and in the upload screen, uncheck the box that reads: "Convert documents, presentations, and spreadsheets to the corresponding Google Docs formats"

@Slidd & mlbrandow
Well the thing is, the online profile doesn't show your match-ups, not even the name of your opponents. That limits the possibilities by a great deal. To data required to feed my spreadsheet is only accessible when you log into starcraft.

Hey, I've been inactive for quite a while but came back end of season 5.

Since my return I improved the spreadsheet a lot. In case somebody cares to use it let me know and I'll upload the new files.
It currently looks like this.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll200/Gulzt/ScreenShot2012-03-07at172141.jpg

Statistics are kept of all matches across all seasons. I also integrated the option to track your SQ.
All maps of previous seasons are hidden. I manually hide the bulk of my matches so that you quickly see the last 30 matches played.

I've seen a few people upload spreadsheets. Some show more detail, but the current map pool & used map pool seem to be unique for my sheet.
