Dunno why but no one seemed to translate the entire thing and only got the sad parts out.
Woongjin's Manager Lee: "Only the players with a passion are left"
"There are no longer any players left in Woongjin that have different goals. The only players left are the players who have the goal of winning the Proleague"
Woongjin Stars, after finishing their 09-10 season have cleaned out their players. They let go of DaezanG, who wanted to become a commentator [T/N: he is supposed to commentate for GSL], and they have allowed GanZi to enter the military. Woongjin also let go of other players such as Special has shown wished to continue with their education, and MVP has said that it is difficult for his circumstances to remain as a progamer, and GuemChi, who grew tired of life as a progamer and wanted to go on a vacation to India. Kwanro has been traded to SKT. There are only 15 players left in Woongjin, who started with a 23 man team when they started in 2008.
Manager Lee said that "This season, many players announced that they will go their separate ways. We didn't really consider trying to hold onto them. We respected their decision, and we also believed the will of all the players who said they would remain. We are thinking of entering the 2010~11 season with a small but elite team"
"Since the creation of the team in 2008, Woongjin Stars never made it into the top 6. You may call it unfortunate but results are results. The responsibility of why we didn't get to the post season lies with me. This season, I am planning on giving it my all with the players and run as far as we can"
When pointed out that Woongjin doesn't have any good Terran players, Manager Lee said that they would try to bolster their lineup through trades and by raising players. They will try and buy or trade players, while also bringing in a Terran coaching staff in order to raise their Terran line.
Manager Lee said that "If we manage to overcome our Terran line's slump, then we will be able to show a more grown up Woongjin Stars in the 2010 ~ 11 season"

GuemChi wants to come to India eh?He should come to chennai, good Korean community.
for what its worth they let go of the less motivated ones....

Woongjin took a body blow there. Lost 6 players, 2 of them sometimes getting starts in PL seasons too.
Not to be obvious, but, that's definitely going to hurt.

Oh man, this is some good news. I was getting really worried that there would now be two less teams this season.
Man I remember when I first started watching NaDa and Savior who were both in the Lost Saga MSl and it looked like they would meet again in the finals. I never thought the proscene would ever hit the situation they are in now.

Thanks for translating the entire point of view. Most of these guys aren't big losses and they still have their core swapping soulkey with kwanro. MvP got a decent streak going for 2 weeks and that was about the high point of his career and guemchi got an All Kill.
If they can acquisition a solid T (a la Really) they will be in a pretty good spot.

GuemChi to India O_o? Is this a common thing in Korea?
Wasn't MVP the only Terran that ever played for them in PL other than Piano? This is pretty sad.
|
If they knew this was happen8ng why the fuck do you trade Kwanro? Especially now with no race rule Kwanro and Zero don't have to split if Woongjin went double toss. They are probably calling Fox non stop for a Terran

just pick up everyone from estro!

I can't really say that it's common but Koreans and Japanese have an attachment to India for some odd reason.
Also I think they need more than just Really to Fix their lineup.....They will probably need to use their fresh blood right off the bat

Probably because he sad parts are the really important bits? The article would actually have been more accurate as "Mass player exodus from Woongjin," DES is sugar coating it too much
|
Losing Guemchi, MVP, and Ganzi must hurt. Now stars have no terran and they lost their 2nd option protoss. Daezang used to be awesome too. =( =( =( =(
Hell, 2008 and 2009 were two great years of starcraft and once 2010 rolled around, blizzard announced SC2 and all went downhill from there.

It could be important, but the team's statement in response to the "mass exodus" would also be helpful so that "Woongjin is gonna disband" fearmongering doesn't go on imo
DES is sugar coating a bit, same with the coach, but at least the resolve imo, is just as important as the news bit itself especially right now when we're only looking at "bad" news.

Ouch... would like to see the now former eStro players join Woongjin. Together they would form quite a team.

Woongjin went from having a deep lineup to
ZerO

Dont they know you need at least four players to be good in Pl and six if you want to succeed in post-season.
The sale of Kwanro makes even less sense now.

This sounds a lot like damage control, and is in fact a pretty typical PR argument -- "oh half the team left but we're super focused now"; "we're lean and mean"; "quality over quantity baby."

Guemchi and MVP were midtier players and I do think it's a sizeable loss, especially in terms of practice partners. Even Special was one of their stronger backbenchers. You can't have a team with only two-three good players as a "core" and nothing else, especially when your core is pretty inconsistent.

This could all be due to the sponsor granting them a reduced budget, or some other financial problem. Maybe Kwanro would've been among these players if SKT hadn't been willing to buy him.

Thanks for the translation! It is a big loss, but hopefully we can get a good terran make the playoffs this season.

This does put it in a slightly different light. KT filtered the non-passionate players out last season too and ended up with 15 players too (if I remember that translated HOT-Forever interview right).
Of course KT didn't drop any PL regulars like Stars did with MVP and Guemchi but it's not like those two ever got any important results (other than Guemchi's WL shenanigans)
basically I'm saying that it might not be that bleak

Woonjing fighting!
I hope Soulkey finally reaches its true potential as a progamer.
