The Maps, but the official d/l link doesn't always work -_-
Game 1: Kos defeated Jinnam on Face Off
Jinnam started at the bottom left position, while Kos started top right. Both players went with safe, standard early build orders, Jinnam going hatchery on ramp to mutas, and Kos going 2 rax M&M. Kos flashed his first M&M's about, shooting up scout zerglings and teasing Jinnam with false pokes. Jinnam simply replaced the lings checking on terran, and took his natural expansion after his mutas were hatched.
Having scanned Jinnam's spire tech, Kos played it safe. He placed sufficient static defense in his base while building up towards 3 rax and science vessels. Jinnam stopped making mutas after he had a few, and teched to lurkers. His mutaling went around daring Kos's M&M to fight, but Kos continued to take his time, preparing another command center in his main.
Kos went on the offensive only after he had amassed a fairly large force he felt safe with. He flew his CC to his natural and set up some heavy defenses there. His troops wandered about the front of his base a little before setting their paths toward Jinnam's main. Jinnam had been waiting for some kind of attack, and he reacted fairly well. A good sized group of muta/lurker went and attacked Kos's natural expansion after his main army was considerably far away. Kos's defense was good, however, and killed enough of Jinnam's attacking forces so reinforcements from his main could take them with
out much trouble. He did suffer some considerable SCV losses and lost mining time, making the attack a moderate success for Jinnam.
On the other side of the map, things went pretty well for Jinnam. Kos's force had 20+ marines, but only 1 tank. They set up upon the high ground overlooking the area between Jinnam's main and nat. The sudden counter-attack on his natural drew Kos's attention, and Jinnam was able to use that distraction to easily kill the troops in front of his base with lurkers. Jinnam then double expanded to the two center expansions.
After clearing his natural of enemy troops, Kos soon had another sizeable army ready for action. Despite having been on the losing end of the initial fighting, Kos was still mining more than Jinnam. Kos's troops were once again, a single tank backed up by many marines and some vessels. They advanced through the middle of the map, clearing up Jinnam's expansions before they were able to start working. Jinnam's responce was to counter-attack Kos's natural again. Fresh troops from Kos's main made Jinnam's hydras turn back. Meanwhile, Kos's troops had made their way down and were setting up to attack Jinnam's nat. Joining his counter-attacking force with the other half of his troops at his main, Jinnam sandwiched Kos's attacking army and defeated it after a bloody battle. Jinnam had the land expansion near 5:00 up and running during the action, and double expanded to the center expansions after winning the battle near his main.
Kos lost another battle, but was far from losing. Jinnam had only recently taken 5:00, and didn't have the money to keep fighting Kos. Kos focused on keeping Jinnam without expansions, sending a small group of units to take down 5:00. Jinnam tried another counter-attack, but Kos's main force was still at home, forcing Jinnam to pull back. Jinnam took his retreating troops and killed Kos's small force, but not before they took down 5:00. Kos left them to buy time while he used a dropship of M&M's to take down the lower center expansion.
Having deprived Jinnam of any further expansions, Kos rolled out with his superior army. It was a game finisher this time, having many tanks mixed in. Jinnam conceded the game after losing wave after wave of hydras on Kos's overpowering army.
Though Jinnam played it well during the first few attacks, it started getting bad when he decided to give up 5:00, which would have been his first workin expansion outside his nat, in order to (uselessly) counter-attack Kos. Kos played it safe, and was never losing the game, even though he was losing troops.
Game 2: Kos defeats Jinnam on Acheron
Zerg was 5-0 vs terran, prior to the game. The long rushing distance and easily taken gas expansions had given zerg the win many times before. Kos has had some experience on this map, having been crushed by Chojja's ultra's, who's numbers were only held back by the 200/200 limit.
Jinnam started on the right, Kos started on the left. Jinnam went along with a 12 hatchery at his expansion, a staple build for zergs on Acheron. After that, his build was a little different from the norm, going for late gas and fast 3rd hatchery. Kos went 2 rax gas, and then built a command center, planning expand quickly as well.
Spire tech went up in Jinnam's main, and Kos was expecting exactly that (not to mention 2 scans). Kos built more barracks while going for science vessels. He did not skimp on base defense, making turrets and bunkers. Jinnam expanded to 12:00 and 4:00 (the expansion right below his main), while preparing to harass Kos.
At first, Jinnam failed to do much damage because of Kos's sturdy defenses. However, Jinnam didn't make lurkers, and made even more mutalisks. Kos's base wasn't made to defend against muta's numbering in the 20's, and took some minor damage. It was still only minor damage, just not absolutely no damage as in game 1. Jinnam teched to hive.
Having some vessels, and a degree of stability in his main, Kos attacked. He had some 30+ upgraded marines, and a few vessels. Jinnam had his mutalisks in the twenty's, perhaps 30's, and speedlings on the ground. The two armies clashed a short distance outside Kos's nat. After a short skirmish, Jinnam broke off after taking taking horribly cost-inefficient losses to the vessel/marine combination. Unable to touch the marines, Jinnam was forced to give up his 4:00 expansion to the marines. Instead, he tried to do some damage with a counter-attack on Kos's natural. Jinnam was forced to run from that fight as well, the static defenses and fresh marines being far too much for the mutaling to take. Kos took his min nat, while Jinnam took 11:00 to keep up.
Continuing to mass more troops at his main, Kos took the troops at 4:00 up toward Jinnam's natural. Seeing good deal of sunks there, the marines went up to test the defenses at 12:00. It looked like Jinnam would lose another expansion, but ultralisks started hatching just before the marines could go and tear up 12:00. Jinnam hastily dispatched the marines with 10 + armor upgraded ultras, not bothering to wait for the speed upgrade.
Kos revealed a crucial part of the army at his main at this point, a large group of science vessels. Without a single air attack unit in sight, the vessels flew over to where the marines had died, and went about irradiating most of the ultralisks. In a less than perfect responce, Jinnam pulled aside his irradiated ultras, in a friendly little damage trading group -_-. Kos racked up 5~6 ultra kills. A little group of marines took down 11:00, messing Jinnam up some more.
A large group of marines, some tanks, and big fucking "cloud" (strange korean terms -_-) of vessels came out of Kos's main, prepared to fuck up some zerg. The army took went around 11:00, approaching the 12:00 expansion from the left. Jinnam avoided confrontation, choosing yet again to counter-attack. A group of ultras and cracks forced the command center at Kos's mineral only expansion to lift. Back at 12:00, the marines and few tanks waited leisurely as the vessel cloud irradiated the defending ultralisks. As the ultras died off, a drop at Jinnam's main took down the greater spire, and a terran expansion completed at 6:00.
With the defenders sufficiently weakened, Kos trampled over 12:00. In a poor state, Jinnam had taken the 1:00 mineral expansion. Kos prepared to attack it by leaving his army to wait while his vessels painted Jinnam's units yellow. Ultras still managed to live up to their name (and there's also the fact Kos didn't really try to irradiate everything... yet), and took down Kos's army.
Not much of a problem for Kos, having 2~3 bases all game lets you replenish your troops quick. During his late army's tour of 12:00 and 1:00, Kos had built up an even larger force in his main. And it had more tanks, since Kos already had enough vessels at 18++. The vessel cloud paved the way for the new army, irradiating this and that, even some drones going to the rebuilt 5:00 expansion.
With severely reduced numbers, and the ones left alive with low HP, Jinnam's ultras couldn't put up much of a fight. Jinnam typed GG as Kos's troops settled in to finish off his nat and main.
The game was very similar in ways to Chojja vs Kos on River of Flame. Terran going quick exp, zerg going fast 4 bases in responce. After that mass vessels for terran, and mass ultras for zerg. However, Chojja decimated Kos, while Jinnam was stomped on by Kos. Jinnam made a very large amount of mutas early game, while Chojja kept their numbers low and went ultras rather quick. This caused Jinnam to lose one of his gas expansions somewhat early on. It also reduced the initial amount of ultras he possesed early on. Also important was that Chojja kept his irradiated ultras seperated from his other troops rather well, while Jinnam had them mixing here and there (and everywhere!).
Game 3: Jinnam defeats Kos on River of Flame
Jinnam managed to keep up his winning streak vs top Terrans on this map. He had managed to defeat Sync, Boxer, and Nada (mutant killer monster freak) on this map. Needless to say, it was his favorite map for KPGA.
Jinnam started at 8:00, while Kos started at 11:00. Early build orders were similar to game 2, Jinnam going for 12 hatch exp, while Kos went quick CC from 2 barracks. Jinnam decided to break what would be a typical pattern in KPGA t v z's, and went for a hydralisk den after lair, not a spire.
Perhaps it was that Kos had never even considered that Jinnam would go lurkers, and his scans missed the den. Maybe he was just too confident in his micro. Anyway, Jinnam's first 5 lurkers easily pushed their way up, and forced Kos to lift his CC while waiting desperately for a tank. While Kos sat around unable to do much, Jinnam built a spire while double expanding to the 3:00 isle and 5:00 main.
With the arrival of a tank, Kos managed to get the lurkers out of his nat and start mining again. Jinnam didn't give him time to rest, hitting him with a lurker drop in his main. As Kos spent his time reacting, Jinnam went towards hive tech. Not long after Kos killed the lurkers in his main, Jinnam stopped the resource flow at yet another base, forcing Kos to lift his CC (a close call for it too, going down to 1 red square) at his expansion with a large group of lurkers. And after that, 5 overlords dropped the main base minerals. Despite being attacked here and there non-stop, Kos managed to live, and not take critical damage. He even had wraiths prepared to fight the guardians that were to come.
Guardians did come, 12 of them protected by hydras on foot. It was to be the final blow. But not quite. Some bad positioning maximized irradiate damage on the guardians, and the 3 wraiths did their role. Kos took the attack with surprisingly little damage, and even went to attack. Jinnam used defilers and lurkers to take out that force, while teching to ultras and taking the 5:00 nat.
Lurkers and defilers went to attack Kos, in another attempt to give the killing blow. Kos stopped this yet again, with few losses. Kos countered again, this time fortifying himself in the middle in order to take his mineral only expansion at 3:00 safely. With ultralisks out, Jinnam attempted to dislodge Kos from the center of the map, and finish him off. Kos once again managed to stop Jinnam's choice of hive tech. Jinnam did manage to kill some of Kos's stuff this time, instead of losing most of his troops without doing much damage. It looked like Kos might have a tiny chance in what had previously been a 100% loss for him.
Jinnam dropped Kos's min nat for a little harassment, while preparing an even larger drop. A little bit later, ultras and cracks were dropped in Kos's main. As his prodution buildings went up in flames, Kos decided to give up on defending and took his troops out to attack.
Jinnam cleaned up Kos's main, nat, and min nat, leaving only his standing army and some scattered buildings left. Kos took down the 5:00 nat and 5:00 main. Jinnam threw his troops at Kos's remaining army as it held the ramp at 5:00. Jinnam took horrible losses, losing many ultras and hydras against the tanks sieged on the cliff. But the fact remained that Jinnam was mining, Kos was not. Kos decided not to prolong the game any further and conceded the game. A rather odd time to type GG, since it might be said that he had been continously dragging out a game he had lost 15 minutes earlier.
Some overconfidence and sloppy finishing attacks made this game much longer than it should have been -_-. Jinnam proves that he's invincible on river.
Game 4: Kos defeats Jinnam on Plains to Hill
Jinnam started at 11:00, Kos started at 5:00. The two players started out again, with very standard builds for the map they were playing on. Jinnam placed his 2nd hatchery at the 3 way junction protecing his main and nat, while placing his 3rd hatch at his nat. Kos went 2 rax and a quick command center before gas. A boring old spire was built in Jinnam's base, while Kos went for a 3rd rax, bay, factory~sci vessel tech yet again. As his mutas went to do the ritual harassment, Jinnam double expanded to 1:00 and 7:00. Kos turtled up and massed troops.
Jinnam was the first to do anything that wasn't boring, using lurkers to attack Kos's exps from below the cliff. Jinnam had made only a few mutalisks, and gone straight towards hydras and lurkers. Kos had his timing worked out well, however, and had a tank there very quick. He had only to pull his SCVs from mining for a short moment, and he was back to normal.
When Kos pulled together a force to attack, Jinnam responded as he had for the last 3 games. Leaving the marines and tanks to kill 7:00, Jinnam counter-attacked Kos's main. Having had to deal with Jinnam doing the same thing for the past few games, Kos had sufficient defenses to take care of Jinnam's troops without trouble. Jinnam was down an expansion, and some units.
Not to be discouraged by such setbacks, Jinnam continued to avoid confronting Kos's main force and tried another diversion attack. Having finished 7:00 off, Kos sent his army to take care of 1:00 as well. Jinnam gave Kos the expansion, and tried to drop his main. However, his landing position wasn't quite good, and Kos's base was a strange maze of buildings. Again, Jinnam lost an expansion and units. Too add insult to injury, Kos cleared the drones from Jinnam's natural with his own drop, while Jinnam tried his failed drop on Kos's main. Not to mention a small group of marines scouting out the expansion Jinnam tried to sneak in at 7:00.
With Kos's army next target being Jinnam's natural expansion, Jinnam was forced to fight Kos's army outright. Having lost his troops in ineffective attacks, and having had no money to make much more, Jinnam's meager army fell easily to Kos's. Seeing his last mining base fall, Jinnam conceded.
Kos defeats Jinnam 3-1. A continuing trend, T v Z's on TV are tending to be one sided affairs. I hope Chojja vs Nada has some good BACK AND FORTH games -_-.
