Okay so lately i have just been raped. I lost my last 6 games, and now my record is 34-31. 5th-2nd in my platinum division.
usually it ends up like mid-late game and i just can't keep up. If anyone has any tips on how i can step up my game so i can start winning and get in the diamond league? 'Cause right now i can't seem to beat any of the players i face.

Can't watch the reps ATM but all I'm going to say is don't
let the streak get to you. Watch the reps see what you did wrong(which I guess you've done already) and just play some, if it oersists take a bit of a break from SC. I've been on much worse loosing streaks =/

If you've been winning the game will put you up against better players

It's good that you posted a replay but 1 more step is needed in a strategy OP. You should analyze your own replay and post what you think you did wrong. It's ok if it is wrong but it will allow us to help you more thoroughly then just a simple what can I do better?

well i think a lot of is was fail micro, and not getting the right tech. I couldn't get any expansions, i just didn't know what to do late game. I just tried to pump units out of what i had to try and do something.

I watched your replays and noted a few things. I can understand what you mean by a 'slump'... it seems perhaps that your play lacks a certain confidence or decisiveness. Game 1 and 2 you lost for the same reason, which was not building the right units despite scouting.

In the first game, I think that if you had just made for certain that those void rays had been dealt with you would have been free to attack and I think you could have done so successfully because the starport/voidrays and the forge/photon cannons are an investment you could have countered. Stimming marines for void rays which can just fly away weakened them unnecessarily.

In game 2 you were kind of unlucky, but again, your opponent teched to battlecruisers on 1 base so that investment should have put him behind of you if you had the right units. This was simply a matter of unit composition. You and your opponent went for pretty similar builds, but where you invested in a needless tank, whilst he got the vikings which complement the banshees so much better. If you were insistent on getting the tank and less vikings, I would have got way more rines to compensate and basically used them as base defence.

In the last game you scouted the 1 base carriers and decided to double expand as a reaction. What I think this did, is gave your opponent time not to be punished for such a huge investment early on. Instead, my thoughts on seeing 1 base carriers would have been either:

"Ok, I'll make a MM mix and just attack once I've got stim/a reasonably sized force with stim."

or the more passive option of:

"I'll make a buttload of marines with stim/shield and get a starport with vikings and slowly but steadily start expanding, and maybe even attack eventually."

You almost did the second option, but without the right resolve, things like the siege tank in my opinion were a distraction from the units you needed to be building.

Apart from these things, I'd say your play seems pretty good. I just think you need to remember to adapt your build to what your opponent is doing without compromises (unnecessary siege tanks for example) and always bear in mind that you opponent has inherent limits governed by his race and available resources. For example: If they go 1 base carriers/battlecruisers and you manage to fend them of, they're not gonna have jack shit units compared to you if you went something a little more standard.

Oh yeah, and you should hotkey your buildings more but other than that keep it up, it seems you've got a pretty good grasp of things, you just need to not slack on things like adapting your build to your opponent imo.

omg thanks a lot. The siege tanks i really just made them for a defense against ground. I thought i wouldn't have enough units to kill his stalkers so just got tanks to defend. Thanks a lot for your input, i really appreciate it and hopefully i can start getting betters. BTW i have been trying to use hotkeys but i just fail at remembering them and just decide to click.

While i am probably a worse player than you, regarding the hotkeys, the best tip i have heard so far is that if you are tempted to click something, don´t. Instead, hover your mouse over it, look what the hotkey is, and press that hotkey. This will make you learn the keys insanely fast.

I think there is a option to disable being able to click, forcing you to use hot keys. I'm considering to do this, but it might slow me down at first.

I'd say don't worry about losing. Your rank is a result of your skill, not vice versa. It's easy to rage when you lose like 5 games in a row, but just remember that losses are infinitely more valuable than wins for learning what your weaknesses are, and how to improve.

i lost 18 games in a row today ^___^ but then again i also went 21-20 so it wasnt that bad in the long run ^___^ but losing streaks tend to screw with your mentality BIGTIME

Bisu's 6 proleague game losing streak is a huge example he went from playing amazingly to just being TERRIBLE for a while

edit:

never forget CONFIDENCE is one of the most useful things in starcraft ^___^ when you lose your confidence in your abilities...you will lose more games! which is why there are streaky players like me...because our confidence comes from our ability to win and when we dont win...well we lose our confidence and must fight to restore it

Unit I like what you said. I lost 4 games in a row..I need to take a break and be focused again. I agree that confidence is key.

I watched the last replay because I've never actually seen an opponent go carriers There were a lot of things you could've done like scouting earlier, an early MM or a few reapers w/nitro would have steamrolled that dude. He literally played in the dark for a long time.

Your unit composition was great because you knew exactly what he was doing, the biggest hole in the your game was unit control. In his initial attack, your tank got picked off for free and the vikings should've been pulled back, then you could've stiffled that attack; his one carrier granted him the uphill vision.

In your counter attack I guess you forgot to pull back two vikings and you didn't have that uphill vision when your ground forces arrived so a ton of those got picked off and focus firing the carriers earlier w/the vikings would've helped.

Your build was absolutely fine. In all of the big battles, your unit comp was superior every time, you just need to watch them. Especially the one where his DTs took all of your marauders while you had an orbital with 200 energy. Lack of unit control is the reason you lost that last game IMHO.

Anyone else get particularly frustrated during a slump because your play is starting to get...sloppy? Like, little basic things such as screwing up build orders, getting supply blocked, having too much money etc. That seems to be the case for me, so I don't even need to check my replays to know where I went wrong.

You need to put a lot more effort into your OP, maybe not as much as Panoptic's awesome post but at least try to do some analysis on your own and post your thoughts, instead of just feeding us replays and expecting help.
