Hello, i tried doing a search to see if anyone has discussed this.. and i could not find anything.
I was wondering if someone could show what it looks like to get nuked in starcraft 2(screen shot and use your best photoshop skills!). Do they see the huge red effect that the nuker does? or does the nukee just see a faint red blur?
Also for the sounds... does the nukee hear, "Nuclear launch detected"? or a beep sound?
Lets also discuss how we could put nukes into standard play... they seem cheaper than starcraft 1 and much easier to get. Do you think nukes are underused? Could this be the reason why terran players have a much less Win% than zerg and protoss players?
So far i've been getting ghosts against protoss and zerg, but never against terran. For protoss it destroys shields + sentry mana. For zerg it can remove infestor mana... making fights easier and more balanced. Should I be using nukes in TvT? If the enemy has seige tanks i find it extremely hard to push in or push out of hisi hold! Otherwise i generally win by doing economy harrassment and upgraded mmm/hellions/banshee and maybe 1 raven if game goes a little more into mid-late, which works really well if they player doesnt have defensive seige tanks and excessive turrets.
It's good to see the explosion, but like the OP asked, could we get a screenshot, or something showing the red dot that the one being nuked sees as a warning?
I tried to turtle inside my base against a Terran AI the other day to see it, but I ended up waiting almost an hour without getting nuked, so I got bored, raped him then left.
If I play a game as Terran and nuke someone, then watch the replay from the opponent PoV, will I be able to see the effect of the nuke, the way the one being nuked would see it?
Edit: NVM, someone posted a video of it just before my post, thx
The red dot is noticeable. I have been nuked ~4 times by now, and always managed to retreat my drones just in time, even when I had to check 3 bases. But the timing window isn't exactly huge, you have to react quickly.
awesome... so for 100m/100g you can destroy supply depots, pylons, or overlords? 2nukes would kill any standard buildings.. and 3-4 for a command center? i think 2 nukes can be used in a real game.. but 3-4 would be too costly and start tapping into your ability to surive any attack
You see the red dot getting bigger and bigger as the nuke approaches, but you also here "Nuclear launch detected" which makes it easier to deal with. After you hear that, you basically have to search all your expands and such for the red dot and retreat any units you have there as fast as hell =D
