So it is another birthday for TL. Last year we celebrated with style, as pachi helped put together an awesome TL magazine. This year we may have out done ourselves again. Your presents are below but just like in real life old sour ass Mani has to give a long winded speech first...
Formed in 2002 by a couple nutty Dutch kids, it is hard to believe that TL is what it is today. In seven years we have gone from a basic news page to the premiere destination for professional StarCraft fans. I very much doubt that Meat, Nazgul, Waxangel, Drone, and the rest of the original crew thought we would be hosting progamers in a hotel lobby in 2009, but that is just one of the many great things that happened this year on TL.
With the increased attention on SC2, prolonged by the inevitable delays, TL has continued to grow and expand. Visits in January 09 averaged 20,000 per day and we are now at 24,000. Membership continues to increase, and we had our 50,000th registered member, and our 100,000th thread. The original post in that thread was by Hot_Bid with an edit by another staff member that I feel captures the essence of what it is like to work on TL+ Show Spoiler +

TL coverage continued to be strong with a plethora of new writers and staff members picking up the torch from the hollow, worn out, spiritless shells of the former staff laying on the ground (except Plexa who is invincible). Not only did we continue our news of the Korean scene, but we were also able to cover various Blizzard events by sending staff members to Blizzcon and Irvine. Here are our new staff members since our last candle blowing day:
- Tadzio - who wrote our GOM coverage for 2009, and has a bigger vocabulary that you or I.
- JWD - who took over the Power Rank, and also wrote OSL work. His name is an acronym, guess what it means!
- riptide - If Plexa is the T1000, riptide is the hot chick from the lousy third movie who can pour herself through a key hole and has a flamethrower.
- LosingID8 - who's Korean is better than ANYONE WHO WORKS AT BLIZZARD.
- MasterofChaos - Our self esteem was suffering because he found so many problems with the site that we staffed him so he would shut up. It didn't work, and TL is better for it.
- Abydos1 - He turns fantasy proleague into reality (but hasn't replied to my PMs regarding my specific fantasies
)
- p4NDemik - Pre-p4NDemik TLPD: about 15,000 games. Post-p4NDemik TLPD: 26,921 and counting. He has, and I say this with a straight face, added over 9000 games. Hell, even
Rekrul is in there now.
In addition to these fine folk, many others have stepped up to fill the growing needs of the site. To everyone who wrote a battle report, made an awesome live report, maintained a thread of results and standings, or generally made TL a great place to be a BW fan, I salute you. We salute you. The reason TL keeps doing well is because of you.

One of our goals at TL is to make following progaming easier. TLPD and Power Ranks help do that, but video is one of our most important resources. With that in mind, we are happy to launch our new VOD page.
Thought of by Daigomi, this was created by zatic and Bockit in a very non-TL like way. Normally our method is to discuss a change for 6-500 pages in the admin lounge, and once a mountain range or two has eroded, something might get done. Not this time. These two boys took this project and ran with it, going from start to finish in less than 4 weeks.
Compared to how closed Korea was to the outside fan a few short years ago, this page represents a jump from peering through a crack in the wall to having front row seats. Our mission is to make this connection even stronger in the future.

Seven years ago, around this time, TL first graced the Internet, and in celebration of this occasion we've brought together some of its original members. This weekend, you're going to get the chance to see and talk to Liquid`Nazgul, Liquid`Meat, Manifesto7, Beyonder, Liquid`Drone, Waxangel and Smorrie on IRC as they take you back in time to an era of Team Liquid that only a handful of its current members remember.
EST Saturday 9/26 - 10:00 10AM
UTC Saturday 9/26 - 15:00 3PM
CEST Saturday 9/26 - 20:00 5PM
KST Sunday 9/27 - 0:00 12 Midnight
TL Chat: Wayback Edition has been cancelled.
Location - #tl-chat and #teamliquid on irc.quakenet.org. While the panel discussion will take place in #tl-chat, general banter will continue as always in #teamliquid. In order to join the chat live you will need an IRC client. The Liquipedia IRC Howto lists a number of popular clients and includes instructions on how to use each of them.
Questions - As usual, we will be compiling questions beforehand and passing them on to the panel, so feel free to post them in this thread. While some live questions may be allowed, quality queries that are posted in this thread will have precedence over them.

Finally, riptide has torn a hole in time itself and peered back into the murky history of TL. Did dinosaurs and man live together? Was mensrea really a girl? What does a Waxangel eat for breakfast? Find out in his Final Edit...
That is all for this year. It is our sincere hope that you enjoy the time you spend at TL. It is just one tiny corner of the internet, but it has personally brought me a lot of joy, laughter, satisfaction, and friendship. I genuinely hope that is has done the same for you.
All the best from everyone at TeamLiquid.net
