I wonder why Kespa and Gom dont get along. I mean that dates back to the Gom BW tournys where kespa also suddendly didnt alow the players to participate anymore. It seems to me there is something going on behind the scenes that we all dont know.

GOM and Blizzard were friends back in BW, with Blizz fronting a ton of money for the GOMTV Classic 3, which is the one KeSPA shut down by having a bunch of their players suddenly be busy.

Crying shame, because Savior had made the business look dirty and scared off sponsors. Having a big company like Blizzard, the original makers of the game, sponsor BW tournaments could maybe have saved BW. But nope. KeSPA wants it all, and they killed BW through their stupidity and greed. They'll do the same to SC2, if we let them.

This wording makes it seem like there's still a chance they can be seeded into Code A/S. GOM could have easily just said "not participate in GSL Season 4", but they specify the Code A Qualifiers. I wouldn't rule them out completely until we get more clarification.

The last paragraph put the nail in the coffin.

Its a straw to grasp at for some type of hope sure. However I don't think GOM would release a depression bomb if that was the case.

If Kespa was worried about their players image why would they allow them to compete in WCS, but not GSL?

Because they dont want to fuck things up with blizzard

Ok if that's going to be the out for that argument. Then why are they allowing them to compete with GSL code S players in the OSL?

I'd really like Kespa and their whole "we tell our players what to do" control freak mentality to disappear. So the teams and players could decide for themselves.

Because that attracts viewers for OGN, with whom they work together more closely and who they prefer over GOM.

Is kespa trying to establish an enclave of starcraft or what? The players face SC2 players in OSL and WCS anyway, so it's not like they want to save their image. I don't get it, they're doing it backwards.

Kespa just doesn't want their players to potentially get embarassed, which is silly because hte players themselves want to play :/

I am pretty sure that competing in Code A is just a waste of time. I mean in korea even Code S doesn't get near as many viewers than OSL.
Code A to OSL is most probably similar to Playhem Daily to MLG, viewer and exposure wise.

what is kespa's problem!

They want to kill the GSL, same way they killed the GOMTV Classic back in the BW days. KeSPA is fairly notorious for this shit, after all.

- KeSPA kills GOM TV Classic.
- GOM tries to retaliate by getting into the IP rights bullshit, buys all broadcasting rights from Blizzard for all Blizzard games.
- GOM fails miserably as KeSPA doesn't give a fuck to them.
- GOM now is trying to attract KeSPA players in just to get some PR shit.
- KeSPA shows the middle finger again.

I don't know if KeSPA wants to kill GOM once more or not, but I won't be surprised if the answer is yes. After all, GOM tried to kill KeSPA once and failed. KeSPA probably won't take the risk of GOM trying again and being more successful than the last time.

We will see. I think that if Kespa does not open up, they will end up closing themselves off from the world. They may still get viewers and everything, but we will just have to see. I think that they are smart enough to know that they will not maintain their closed culture in the long run, I don't think, with the current environment of SC2. I hope this is just a ploy for early viewer numbers and then they get off their high horse, but hell, you know, it is Kespa so they could pull any kind of crazy shit out of their ass.

Kespa players in GSL gives them more foreigner exposure because when the foreign audience likes what they see they will go and watch OSL/Proleague.

The prize pool for winning Code S is no joke, the players themselves would love to get in on that.

If they want to get an international audience, they will go to MLG, or other international tournaments.

Sure the price pool is big, but only one player can win it. But OSL/PL gives exposure to every player, so that even players who don't win can more money, than they would in GSL.

If this is true it will be our duty to support GOM which has done so much for us, great stream, good casters, good events, listens to feedback, comes over and plays for American crowds. I will continue to support GOM. It could be also that maybe Kespa just wants to rule Korean broadcasting still, but does not mind giving GOM the foreign scene. I am just trying to keep my hopes up...I know it is not likely, but I have hope.

My korean friend said to me that KESPA is biggest game cooperation in Korea. So they have controlled all KESPA progamer arbitrarily. All SC2 fan must voycott KESPA. We want to see KESPA gamer GSL,MLG and other leagues.

well kespa is teams

Well, my problem with Kespa is that I don't think one association should decide for all the teams (which is what's happening now). If you look at the "Gom" teams, they each decide on their own if they want to do partnership with foreign teams, participate in tournaments and such.

So I think it's something in the structure of Kespa that's encouraging this "we decide for all our members" policy. I don't think that's very good for esports. So yeah, I think it would be better for the scene if the BW team regained their independence.
