I am curious though on what the English casters are going to be allowed to say about these kinds of situations as well once the OSL starts with Moletrap. I know that they will want to comment when Kespa pulls shit like this, but are they going to be allowed to? I wonder how restrained they will be?

Regardless what Kespa wants, their players showed interest in participating the GSL, so why would you forbid them? Plus, the recent games showed that some Kespa players can stand toe-on-toe with GSL players and those players weren't even your average Code A material.

I can only see business motivations behind this decision, and misguided ones at that.

Just like LG controlled MVP/Nestea participation in IEM and forefeiting WCS. Look thats the reality of this. Thats the sacriface you make if you get Samsung and Telecoms into industry and air it on TV. And thats how it works in every established competition/business. Some people need to get real here and understand the what stakes are in question. Some adjustements can be made, sure but some people are over dramatizing this, and its working perfectly for GOM. Because they are on foreigners mercy.

I'm torn as I love high level play no matter where it comes from but im also dissapointed i won't get to see them this coming gsl. sigh Of course that's not the reason. This is a competition between OSL and GSL. Kespa simply wants to establish OSL as a better league than GSL. Since GOM don't have any power to control players not to participate OSL, so Kespa can play this card to make OSL a better tournament.

While I'm fairly certain they can't just override KeSPA's decision like this, but maybe once their (kespa/ ogn) license to broadcast SC2 expires Blizzard could change the terms to where Kespa wouldn't be allowed to do things like this. Blizzard really isn't in the point to say anything to kespa/ogn. OGN and Kespa could just abbandon SC2 and SC2 would be dead in Korea.

Damn I'm pretty salty about this. Tough break for GSL.

Each WCS player in their interview said they would like to play in qualifiers, but it's up to their team. Always with that caveat of needing team permission. They're trained well. Because they are pros, GSL players are just semi pros. User was warned for this post

I really wish Blizzard was more involved with the development of their game as an esport, I really do. However, so far they haven't really shown much involvement (compared with Riot and LoL). I mean, they can easily put their foot down seeing as it is THEIR game. Hopefully I'm proven wrong. I really hope KeSPA's doing this because they're not confident of their players' skill levels yet, and would bring them into the GSL only after they've improved drastically. If they're doing this because they want everything for themselves (which is the more likely case), then KeSPA can go f**k themselves.

Hopefully Kespa will start competing with Gom for the foreign audience and we will at least get better streams out of it. Otherwise it's just a pointless attempt to monopolize Korean scene which will fail and give that position to Gom. It's in the spectators best interests to have competition in Korea as both organizations have a spotty record. Complete control over the scene by one of them will not lead to anything good.
