If things like this keep happening GOM has a rough future. Yeah, I think it is purely a business decision by Kespa. If both leagues had both players, then where do the viewers go? I can still see them possibly opening it up for the future, but I think they want to make OSL top dog for this round by having the most interest, then we will see what they do next.

I mean that dates back to the Gom BW tournys where kespa also suddendly didnt alow the players to participate anymore. It seems to me there is something going on behind the scenes that we all dont know. Anyways if its just for another GSL then we wont have to wait very long, it feels like there are 3 GSLs a month XD. it wasn't KeSPA who had forbidden participation in the GOM Classics, but rather it was the several teams who decided that a third individual league was too much of a burden for their players. Thus, the GOM Classic died because too few teams were participating in it .. Proleague is king for KeSPA teams, and overrides all.

Their free stream quality already surpasses GOM's paid stream. That's a big plus to the foreign audience. The massive names have already been stateside once to participate in an MLG. Will something like that happen again, possibly time will tell. It shouldn't shock anyone, we already know they practice a crazy amount, more than likely even more since they are working on a new game. So the time issue is likely a half truth, with the other part being they don't want anything to do with GOM. The foreign audience is much greater for sc2 than it was with BW. I think they have already realized this, and are making strides to please us.

Plus, with MSL gone, there needs to be another individual league for KeSPA players to play in besides just OSL.

Kespa loses: They build on their bad image in the non-korean esports scene by essentially denying everyone else the opportunity to see the best players battle it out. Rather than take the opportunity to opening up to the foreign scene, they have once again chosen to keep themselves to themselves. Kespa players lose: its ibvious the want the opportunities to compete more, gain new fans, have more opportunites to earn prize money... Nope, denied. Gom players: have to continue getting bashed by the korean bw fans without a chance to fight it out in game on the gom turf. Gomtv: loses the chance to grow its korean and foreign audience The Fans: lose the chance to see more of the worlds best players. This is such a bad time for this to happen, right when it looked like an awesome change in the scene (osl group nominations) was in flight. Kespa killing esports all on their own.

And since there are Kespa players playing in WCS when Proleague was going on, I don't think that was the biggest issue. hmm actually I was under the impression that Code A Qualifiers would be this weekend or before it, but seems like I was mistaken. This reminds me of a bad movie. At some point you think it will get better and you won't feel like it was a total waste, but SURPRISE! Still a shitty movie.

This is not new, it's not the first time they have held players from GOM, and it will likely not be the last. Welcome to KeSPA. To be fair, the first time it made sense because KeSPA players were doing OSL, Proleague, "and" MSL "and" some were doing GOM Classic too. (Of course MSL is gone now, so that's excuse can't be used.) There were times you could defense KeSPA back then... Of course this time it doesn't make sense at all. It would be a win-win for everyone if KeSPA lets their player play in GSL. It doesn't matter who, just send someone (even if they're a B teamer) to attempt to qualify. At least try to show some collaboration or at least tell them they'll participate in the future for sure (if it was due to scheduling conflicts).
