Blizz wants control, and they know the KeSPA players bring the crowds. Blizzard is still just 1 company, if they do anything against KeSPA, they are basically running into the South Korean government + Samsung, and 3 of the biggest companies in South Korea.

I think Blizz needs to layoff and hear out why KeSPA pulled their players before they do anything. This is the problem I been finding with Blizzard recently, their ego is cashing out something they cannot control.

I am sure they will listen to Kespa's reasons, but they have no intrest in supporting or helping an exclusive league that forces players to pick which league they want to play in. They have said so and they have the ability to stop KeSPA from showing SC2 if they want. It is not going to come to that, but Blizzard it going to remind them that they hold the broadcast rights to SC2.

It's Korean nature, koreans are known to not cause a fuss over things, ESPECIALLY publicly I'm sure there are people who disagree with the decision (which they rightfully should).

I think OSL is going to learn quickly that they do not control the SC2 scene like they did the BW scene, SC2 is a world game, not just a game that's popular in Korea and barring your players from participating in leagues that cater to the world, is probably the worst idea you could ever do.

As soon as OGN purchases Artosis + Tasteless combo for their international fanbase, I think that would be the end for GOM TV. So they should get on that asap.

Both have said before that they have absolutely no interest in working for a league besides GOM in the current capacity, so there would probably have to be an obscene amount of money involved in that particular deal. Especially since Tasteless is such a good negotiator.

I wish half of you would STOP theory crafting BS.

Honestly it's a bit irritating to read when you have no facts to back it up. Have all of you forgotten already when WCS first started, KeSPA players did horrendous? Or has that been completely lost since their run through the losers bracket? Some of the KeSPA players are definitely good enough for Code S. Throwing all of them at Code A seems a huge slap in the face with some of the players, even if they want to be there or not.

KeSPA will be in GSL eventually when they are ready. We seen only a handfull of players from KeSPA in the WCS, compared how much GSL players are there, the discrepancy is way too much.

I'd much rather see great games, then once again lopsided ones. Give them time for god sakes.

Why does this matter?

>Some of the KeSPA players are definitely good enough for Code S.
I agree.

>Throwing all of them at Code A seems a huge slap in the face with some of the players, even if they want to be there or not.
Why do they all need to attempt to qualify? If they don't feel ready, then they don't need to try an qualify. Slap in the face? It seems like more of a slap in the face to the players that ARE ready to be denied the chance completely.

>I'd much rather see great games, then once again lopsided ones. Give them time for god sakes.
Qualifiers aren't even televised as far as I know. If they're good enough to qualify, then they're good enough to play games against the more seasoned SC2 players, no? I can't see how this would possibly compromise your game quality if the worse players are weeded out in qualifiers.

Haha Code A being a slap in the face for the Kespa players? I'd be willing to bet that less than half of the kespa players would even make it out of code a.

I do think it's going too far to ban all KeSPA players from trying. They don't all need to go for qualifiers, but honestly, the ones with strong showings in WCS should definitely get the chance to test their mettle. Wasted opportunity for them otherwise. :/

all of this is only making me like GOM more than KESPA. seeing the "effort" they put into foreign scene when OSL started with sc2, really sent a strong message for me personally. and now this...

it's so sad that Gom has to fight the david-goliath fight against these guys, when there is place for both.

Low blow, basically they have OSL with kespa vs gom then they bar kespa players from playing into GSL.
Then they'll be able to brag about bigger numbers.

It's a lose lose situation if you think about it.

If they do well, then they do well. If they don't then... well it'll look terrible and most everyone would say, "Well see they aren't ready just yet." KeSPA might have done the better thing and held them back for now. For the players who are in WCS whom represents both sides, they will most probably do well in GSL anyway. It's the players that aren't on that list are the concern.

But I'm not gonna bother getting into that because it's pointless to do so. Gonna wait and see how this turns out.

I guess that's the first time that Kespa's bad, monopolistic side reared its ugly head in SC2. Let's hope it's only this season the poor elephants are barred from the most prestigious league, because in the long run this would hurt SC2 pretty bad in Korea.

Goddamit, I hope Gom can still get some good numbers, I know I'll be watching. The attitude of OGN/Kespa so far when it comes to Sc2 puts a sour taste in my mouth

Yeah, but GOM is not the same as KeSPa. Kespa actually controls the teams and players under their banner as opposed to GOM who just holds a league and the teams and players are independent. The issue is that Kespa claimed to be changing and allowing their players to do more than only their sanctioned events, but so far this appears to not be true.

You forgot to mention that Kespa also does the work of finding sporsors for the teams.
